    I'm so glad the customer was willing to put on the coat for the camera. I was really wishing I could see that. Btw, you know that upper back curve? Well, after many years of ballet, I don't have much at all. If a fitted dress has a high neck in back, it will gap on me. There's just too much fabric. So it's necessary for me to sew. I love how well you explain all the techniques. Just right, not too fast or too slow, and the filming is so clear. P.S. I also have a full set of curves, and have fixed lots of t-shirts, but usually I buy Asian market ones for girls. It's too much work to alter t-shirts because they're so cheap anyway.

    Thank you. I have never been totally satisfied when I modify a piece of clothing. I will get close to a fit but something is off. Now I know. Thank you for unlocking the secrets.❤❤❤

    I got the Lutterloh pattern book which is based off of proportions. Most designs are based off of the bust or hips and so far it has been pretty accurate from the projects I have completed. I think the most difficult parts are 1) getting used to working in centimeters and 2) knowing what each pattern piece is and how to sew it because it doesn't give you that part.

    • @DowntownTailoring

      Oh! Yes... Proportions 💕

      This is very interesting. I haven't heard of this book A. Tyler. 1) I learned at a time when centimeters were introduced to Canada in school so I find I switch back and forth a lot lol 2) how to recognize pattern pieces will become easier in time and in which order you sew them in. 👍

      @A. Tyler :: Well, then you'd find MARFY patterns just hilarious ! You get the pieces (metric) & the cover photo. Period. They're made for advanced-moderate, to advanced sewists. Lutterloh is a good system; you can derive virtually any design from the principles, although some complain that there's a limit to it's usability...? I find that interesting, since clothing is really just made up of a handful of fundamental pieces, with some variation due to darts/gathers, etc, to control contouring & ease; followed by some type of slit/keyhole to permit entry & facilitate movement -- including zippers, cuffs, vents/kickpleats ( walking...in pencil skirts). And of course, you have to put your head, arms & legs somewhere...The rest is really just decorative type stuff like ruching, ties, etc. So if you have the main parts to hang on your body, treated with those methods to make them fit, how can you be limited? All that's left at that point is that other stuff to make it pretty. I always wonder what the thought process was that led from 🤔 😵‍💫 to their method...? Had to be some engineer - husband. 🥸
      ★ My sincerest apologies for the length of all that prattle...I need sleep. 😵‍💫🤐

      @@DowntownTailoring love your attitude and you videos. Thank you for all the information. Do you have another channel in another language? Also will you be doing videos on how to do patterns with the 2 measurements. 🤞 I've been wanting to learn. I have also heard about Lutterloh system but I would like to know how to make my own patterns just from the 2 measurements.

    Thank you! I got rid of a lot of weight as my Covid sanity project (~100 lbs depending on the day) and so now that y weight has settled I have a lot of alterations to make on my existing wardrobe, and obviously a lot of new clothes to make. I have the curved rulers and other tools to help, but this video helped me to understand how to properly use them to create the clothes I will be making. So again thank you. Always enjoy your videos.

    That coat! You're a goddess, lol. The proportion I am struggled with recently is where the patch pockets go on a bath robe for a guy that is 6'4". I know that the elbow is the same level as the waist, and I learned this week that the wrist is the same level a the crotch. Both helpful guidelines. So what's the rule for pocket placement, distance down from the waist?

    • @DowntownTailoring
      @DowntownTailoring  Год назад +1

      Hi! This distance is around 8 cms from the waist down. Sorry, I have in my mind some measurements in inches and others in centimeters. Keep in mind that what men call waist is very low. Good luck with your project 😊

    Some jobs are too much work. The customer would be paying more in hours of labour to complete the job than to perhaps purchase another garment that actually fits. I am sure to inform my customers of the options available. Few people know how much work is involved in tailoring.
