- I have finally done a My Bloody Valentine riffs video. I put this off for a while as I found the 'glider' guitar technique a bit awkward to play, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I'm not entirely sure how to play most of these properly, so don't take this as an exact demonstration of how to play them!

"Sugar" is a favorite that uses a strange tuning. Were you in standard for all of these songs (except the last "Sometimes" with capo)?

This was sick dude! I honestly forgot about MBV, but Loveless is one of my all time favorite albums. You've inspired me to try and figure some of these out after work today, I cannot wait! At first glance I'd have to say MBVs guitarist seems to be very innovative, kind of sad you dont see him appreciated very often.

Thanks. Yes it's all from the Katana. I'm using distortion and some delay. Not using any reverse reverbs or anything.

If the glider technique is awkward is may be due to the fact Kevin Shields puts tape at the base of his which leads to it being easier to do. Pretty sure i remember seeing him say this either in the Fender vids about him or elsewhere. Still sounds great all round tho.

That’s interesting I’ll check that out. To be fair, the tremolo on this guitar is not great. It would probably be better with a Fender one

Great stuff, dude! Would like to have heard 'I Only Said'. Apparently you can get M.B.V effects pedal now, endorsed by Kevin Shields himself. Saw them live about 25yrs ago. Fantastic but I had to go outside for about 5 cigs as it was eardrum-shreddingly loud. Never heard volume like it - people were vomiting!

It's a V65 by Vintage. As for the tunings, I just used standard gauge strings. 9s I think they were. I can never be bothered to change them for alt. tunings unless I really have to.

Thanks. I used a Boss Katana amp and a foot switch to change the settings on the amp. All sounds were from the amp.

do you only use the preset effects on your amp? or do you adjust them somehow? and how highly would you reccomend the boss katana?
I adjust the settings. You can do that on the amp itself or in the tone studio software. It's a good amp and there are a lot of sounds on it. I would recommend it sure.
Glider technique to do is possible with Harley Benton ms 60 or Harley Benton ja OW?
The Harley Benton JA looks like a hardtail bridge so you won't be able to do it. You need one with a whammy bar. MS 60 looks like you would be able to do it as it has a jazzmaster style whammy.

I don't actually know to be exact. I used the 'lead' channel for a lot of them with some extra boost on top.

how did you manage to get such a accurate tone for the lead on when you sleep?
I put a lot of reverb on it and delay. Also there is a tiny bit of octave on it (octave above) but you can barely hear it.
