Nice wee vid I still love the classic GH 😊 Hope you've invested in a good variable temp soldering iron since making this though, it makes all the difference and getting enough heat into a joint quickly (in and out as fast as possible before heat starts transferring to everything else) is essential to good soldering 🙂
Uhh, yeah, and I didn’t manage at all to keep it in a straight line. So go to the parking place and turn the dual rate down. Looking forward to the next.
I think that it may be possible. My Aqroshot went 39mph on 2s and 3500kv brushless but we had a nice long flat road. The Grasshopper is less stable though and also the tyres are a bit crap so might be difficult. Good luck !
Back in the day, Me and ny brother did 56 kmph GH2 with mechanical speed controll and 12 cell battery. Believe it was a stock silver can with plastic endbell and hot timing. Remember the plastic melted around the bronse bushing 😂 Happy days😍
Ahh the ole Grasshopper love these cars! Me and my bro put stupid amount of power in the Hornet (I think it’s very similar but with spiked tyres) and that thing just wouldn’t break wish we had footage of that back in the day haha.
That's thing is nippy! I enjoy watching these Tamiya models being hopped up. I really want to build a hot Avante with a big brushless motor and put it on a 2s or 3s lipo and see what it can do. Anyway keep up the good work.
I bought the Tamiya 18,19t pinion gear set but they are to small to reach the mesh?? They suggested a 19t in upgrade videos?? Which pinion for a 540 motor please.. I have a hobbywing Quicrun 3650 10t combo and a 27t Trail master 550 motor I would like to try in the grasshopper v1 any advice please.. I have tried to mount them directly to the gearbox without the plastic motor mount..
Great vid brother I love fast hoppers they are a fun chassis to mess around with so cheep to fix I have a 19t trinity chameleon with a traxxas esc in mine it does around 30 on 4000mah 2s fun buggy 👍😁
haha i put a brushless system in my grasshopper had to put a sway bar on it as it wouldnt stay in a straight line also put oil shocks in aluminum bumpers also put led lights on to goes well sets the village speed warning signs off really need to gps it lol
Hello I'm just getting back into the hobby and have a Rising fighter I just finished building and next up is a dual ridge. I've noticed that my dad seems somewhat interested in my buggy. I'd like to get him a 1/10 scale rtr buggy for Christmas. Looking to speed around $200 usd. Any suggestions on a pretty robust 1/10 scale buggy? He's never driven a rc so I have a hunch he's gonna be bashing into stuff in the beginning. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated 👍
got my madbull same diff butt ballraced on 17t pinoin I balloon all tyes had fit armour 1/18 wheels rims also 1/8 back wheel conversion.dont use grease Teflon oil with homemade gaskets.im on 8.4v 5000nimh
Cam row drone It sounds like you have a grasshopper 2 which came with spiked rear tyres, this is a grasshopper 1 which came with paddle tyres. Both kits are still available and are not expensive.
40 mph is achievable. You just need a motor with high enough KV rating as you are limited on pinion size. I set mine up with an MM7700 on 2S then finally 3S many years back. I had no way to check it back in the day but I can tell you that I was able to run down the road beside cars going at least 40 mph. Hardest part was keeping tires on it. The tires needed to be in really good shape or the would explode.
Not sure on the motor your putting in, but I put a trinity 15 turn triple motor with the timing fully advanced in my hornet and cracked the gearbox in half on 7.2v nimh. Good luck!
29 years ago at a hobby shop I was looking at a blackfoot and lunchbox. The salesman said in stock form the lunchox is faster. I bought the lunchbox and was baddest truck in the world to a 15 year old and have one again waiting for a traxxas brushless set up, a billet 4 link kit that im going to use longer links and I think their grp onroad pan car rubber slicks and a hornet pinion. Im also going to get a set of hornet wheels and tires for it
Damn...I love the grasshopper.......such good memories...feel like 12 years old again.

Excellent that’s what the channel is all about my friend 😊👊🏻
Man back in 1986 I put two 7.2 batteries in my Rockbuster . It was fun while it lasted.
😲 That things screaming .. your going to have fun trying to keep that sucker under control on a 2S and 3S kaboom! Can't wait to see this one go!

Yeah it was good fun lol, thanks for watching as always buddy 👊🏻
I use brushless motor with esc speed controller so so much fun. I have done this to my Grasshopper, super hornet and a grasshopper ii.

Yeah! Go for it. I got +40 kph on a stock (ball raced) Hornet on 3S. So with a 3S and this motor it might get +60 kph. Nice gift you got!

lol 😂 🚗💨💨💨
I love stories like that 😊👊🏻
I think you will do it, the gearbox should hold up as almost bulletproof. Tyres will always be a issue and the right surface required.
Bas Boy RC
Thanks buddy, fingers crossed I can keep it in a straight line 👊🏻
brilliant channel best on youtube always a pleasure to watch

Thanks Mark, much appreciated buddy 👊🏻
cant wait to see the different between nimh 2&3s lipo and how fast that bush motor is. keep up the good work

Building a grasshopper at the moment. Fitting a 5200kv brushless and esc.
Should be interesting. 😁
stampy cat
Excellent that should be fun 🤩👊🏻
Also suggest fitting brat tyres, on the rear. As they provide more grip.

Glen buy another soldering iron do they have a Lows out there they even have battery operated soldering irons.

Lol 😂. This one might as well of been solar powered 👊🏻
I have a 2017 edition ,but has the off road tires , do you know the number of those tires they look better for on road 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

pls open the gauge in the front, then the grasshopper is more stable at top speed.
Cut off the front shock mounts screw on two little L brackets and put oil filled shocks the stability is a 100 times better ...I've done it

Yeah it’s a good mod to do buddy 😊. However this was to see what it could do in standard form 👊🏻
