They're pretty much the same, except that real winged hussars usually didn't carry shields and did carry many more weapons (a sabre, an estoc, several guns and maybe a horseman's hammer). Also, I don't think they often wore mail but in the Warhammer world it makes sense.

Greatswords, hammerers, black orcs, the black guard, temple guard, blood knights, chosen, phoenix guard, ironbreakers. Any of these would be a great vid for sure.
This is the parts of Kislev culture that made me interested in Kislev. Not piles of ice and bears and bears accessories. I really love the concept of Kislev being an amalgamation of several Eastern European countries and cultures.
That's the worst part about it. winged hussars are polish and it will never be russian. U can try as hard as you want and even try making fictional armies like kislev but that's the only place you will See it. I think that hussars deserve their own faction and if fusion would be necessary then it would be fusion with hungary, lithuania Ukrain and nothing more. Also when you translate polish tribe name(Polanie) from whitch comes present name of my country It means People living on fields or clearings whitch doesn't fit with ice cold mountains.
@@nitrofochv2185 Poland is one of the most Eastern nations in Europe. If we are using the Commonwealth, which is what Warhammer heavily draws from, it's borders very much make it an Eastern European nation.
@@Vitalis94 To be Honest if you check 16th century Commonwealth miltiary it's basically copy pasta into fantasy universe . Russian theme is in the names but idea and even story is copy of historical events. If we would remove tsar and boyars and replaced those names with kings and szlachta (but boyars still existed within the realm) we have basically Ukraine/Poland/Lithuania without Russia. Still I don't see issue in making it more universal just dont let forget that Russia accent is minor.
Really liking this video. Even though it is a work of fiction with Warhammer Fantasy it really feels like one of your previous videos of history. Almost as if this exists in a living world. Overall I do hope you do more as it is both educational and entertaining.
Absolutely, a breakdown of Warhammer units would be awesome. The Black Guard of Naggarond, Knights of the Blazing Sun, or Dragon Princes of Caledor would make fantastic videos'.
This was an absolutely phenomenal piece on a game with some really good lore. I'm extremely excited to see more of these, as for requests the Greatsword Regiments of the Empire with a spotlight on the Carroburg Regiment would be wonderful. These guys were the models that brought me into the hobby, other options could be the Grail knights of Brettonia, or the Knights of the White Wolf or Knights of the Panther. When you move to the more fantasy units, maybe the Lions Guard of the High Elves, The Dwarven Rangers, and Ogre Maneaters. Though If you did one on The Saurus of the Lizardmen I think you could touch on a lot of their Unique Designs.
Warhammer Fantasy: When it started, 40 years ago, I'd have said that it seemed quite generic and unimaginative, I poor copy perhaps of Tolkien's work spread over a world that could be said to be little more than a caricaturized version of Earth, but over these decades it has become quite possibly the deepest traditional fantasy setting in the world. The setting is now a masterpiece, enabled by this progressively expanding richness in it's lore, in all it's factions, cultures, geographic regions, characters and history. That Games Workshop scrapped all this for their new Age of Sigmar: a stale, hollow and artificial setting nearly as empty as Warhammer Fantasy in it's formative years... is difficult to describe in words. In any case, I would certainly endorse further explorations into the lore of Warhammer Fantasy by this channel or any others that take interest.
How do I get started with warhammer fantasy? Like where do I begin reading? I'm really hoping there's a great resource when new people can get a good introduction into the lore.

The Old WH:FB was very hard to get into and pursuing the hobby was way more costly (if I had to guess, I'd say a good starting army is at least around 100 EUR) than getting into it's Sci-Fi equivalent 40k, one of the main reasons why WH:FB didn't sell well outside Europe. Age of Sigmar scrapped most of the complicated stuff and made it way easier to get into. The only problem is: While AoS lore is compatible with the old WH:FB lore (it's a sequel/ continuation of the story), the game system is not.

Once you've figured that out go search for that factions lore. Whether it's on fan wikis or from bootleg army book PDFs find it and just start reading. If you want to build and collect an army it's harder to get your foot in(since Games Workshop cancelled the game years ago) but there are plenty of avenues to approach it from for that still.

Invicta continues to be in the upper echelons of historical and fictional military youtube channels. I rate it in the same breath as Kings and Generals, Occulus Imperia, The Templin Institute, Space Dock, Eckhartsladder, Wolf Lord Rho, Historia Civilis, Baz Battles, and Historia Marche. And Potential History because El oh el.
Some of the legendary units or seiges and battles of 40K would be such a cool circuit breaker for the channel imo, depicting voidcraft Imperial Fleets or conflicts like the Badab War would be incredible. Love the fantasy though, great work all :)
I dont understand how a decent amount of people that watch this after watching a hundred of their historical videos just hate it automatically. Like not all videos are catered to everyone you dont have to watch it lol.
I sincerely hope this is just the first in a series of many episodes diving deep into the lore of Warhammer units. If I might make a suggestion, the Black Guard of Naggarond would be a fine choice to cover in the next episode.

The New kislev looks more russian. I really enjoyed the old style like in this video. We didnt see whole roster yet but I hope ca left some polish lithuanian aspect of the army style 😁. It just looks too "russian" for me.
What made me such a huge fan of Warhammer Fantasy from the very beginning is how the Old World is like a distorted mirror of Earth. There are some who found this as lazy copying or lack of imagination, me however actually found it as one of its stronger qualities. Take the Winged Lancers for example. There is almost nothing to differentiate them from their real world counterpart the Winged Hussars. They took an already well respected and admired piece of history and put them in an awesome "what if" kind of fantasy scenario. As both a fantasy and history buff, the Warhammer Old World checks both of those boxes for me!

@@frantisekprusa4877 Not the mongols. Kislevs Ungols are based on Ukrainian Cossacks. Mongols and eastern steppe peoples in Warhammer Fantasy are portrayed by a faction called Hobgoblin Khanate.

I really hoped that there would be a mention of the polish winged hussars, it just feels that all these information, though amazing mean nothing in real history

We will get to them in the future. For now this was a nice Ying-Yang situation where I can cover the fantasy version while our sponsor provides the historical version. Their video is actually quite good and uses historians + reenactors to really being them to life. Definitely recommend it.
In the End Times (series of dire events which lead to Warhammer world undoing), the last rota of Winged Lancers charged with Tzarina Katarina at its head against an herd of beastmen of colossal proportion to protect the very last refugee ship leaving Erengrad. There is a nice piece of lore which said that even if we don't know if they survived (highly unlikely...) since this day, Erengrad is constantly battered by a great blizzard. The chill winds are still blowing...
Id love what you could do with the lack of humanity of other factions. The temple guard of the lizardmen come to mind. Love the new direction for this series!
Man thus was better than I thought it'd be. In fact its so good I don't think WH3 is doing these units enough justice they dont have individual armour for each region theure recruited in.

Unfortunately, GW seems to have changed the image of the Winged Lancers somewhat. No more red and white horses. Their armor also seems different.
I think that was just due to Katarina's faction. Some of her winged lancers had blue and white paint.

We will get to them in the future. For now this was a nice Ying-Yang situation where I can cover the fantasy version while our sponsor provides the historical version. Their video is actually quite good and uses historians + reenactors to really being them to life. Definitely recommend it.

i like warhammer and all but i wish we could just keep it to the historical, maybe making a fantasy separate channel ?
In the End Times (series of dire events which lead to Warhammer world undoing), the last rota of Winged Lancers charged with Tzarina Katarina at its head against an herd of beastmen of colossal proportion to protect the very last refugee ship leaving Erengrad. There is a nice piece of lore which said that even if we don't know if they survived (highly unlikely...) since this day, Erengrad is constantly battered by a great blizzard. The chill winds are still blowing...

Man thus was better than I thought it'd be. In fact its so good I don't think WH3 is doing these units enough justice they dont have individual armour for each region theure recruited in.
