    Thanks for the mention. I've been ripped hundreds of pesos to go from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 (Manila Airport Hotel) I was so pissed. The security at the hotel couldnt help me. They said a trip would have only cost me 190/200 pesos if I took a metered taxi. Lesson learned indeed.

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

      Yes I had to transfer between terminals in a rush and paid for a taxi too. I later learned there is a free transfer bus between terminals. Locals won't tell you these things. Thanks for sharing =)

    • @BAdventures

    Did I hear that right, the Canadian got 15 days stamped. All western countries get thirty days without asking, it's automatic. Called a visa waiver.

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

      The Australian friend only wanted 15 days by choice. He was taking a 2 week trip so did not want more time. Yes it is generally 30 days visa free as a tourist. After that you apply for a Visa extension at a PH Immigration Office if you wish to stay longer. Thanks for watching =)

    • @trr4488
      @trr4488 8 лет назад

      Trust me I know how it works, I was just surprised that a normal 30 days was not stamped regardless.

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

      Tom Reid Ok I understand. PH Immigration must confirm your exit flight and date. So if he had a round trip plane ticket for say 15 days vacation, then that is what they have to stamped on his passport.

    • @trr4488
      @trr4488 8 лет назад

      Actually no, the exit date does not matter, the only thing that matters is that he has an onward ticket out.I confirmed this with immigration a while back and have it in black and white. I deal in this stuff often as I run an expat forum and also talk to immigration at times. Certainly not saying I know it all, just saying I keep up to date with immigration matters. :)

    Good info! Are there some private taxis that make their cars look like metered taxis, too?...so you think you're getting into a metered taxi?

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

      Glad you found it helpful. I have heard of incidents where marked taxis took people somewhere remote and demanded a huge sum of cash or would leave them there. But you could take a photo of the taxi number and plates to report them later. Usually it is the unmarked private cars that try trick people into thinking they are taxis. Thanks for watching =)

    • @3jhoward
      @3jhoward 8 лет назад +1

      B Adventures Yeah, that's what I meant was the private cars masquerading as a metered taxi. Shenanigans, I tell ya lol. Always be on your guard there, for sure.

    • @ThisisOurPhilippines
      @ThisisOurPhilippines 8 лет назад

      Best thing to do is be on the phone with someone and give them the plate number and the drivers name so that the driver can hear you doing so. I also use my phone's map app to follow where we are going. This can be a daunting task as the drivers try all sorts of different side roads trying to avoid traffic. But you can basically tell if you are headed in the right direction if you have it pinned.
      Been traveling back and forth now since 2005 and have not had any issues to date other than what is mentioned about the non metered taxis.

    • @3jhoward
      @3jhoward 8 лет назад +2

      Cagayan Valley Isabela and Beyond Good ideas and I also thought of taking a pic of the license plate and cab and send it to someone and do it so the driver notices what you're doing. (You don't really have to send it to someone until you things start feeling odd, but the driver doesn't have to know that.)

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

      Jason Yep exactly ;)

  • @bizzman4u
    @bizzman4u 8 лет назад +1

    yeah I noticed best to go upstairs to departures to pick up a metered taxi and I have found also that its best to negotiate the price with the driver before you get inside. If you do not see a meter then don't get inside as he can kidnap you or even just charge you too much

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

      Yep exactly. But I've heard sometimes security make it harder for you to get upstairs now. Different sections of the airport being Arrivals vs Departures. Good call, always ask for meter first. If they don't do it then walk away. Thanks for sharing =)

    • @bizzman4u
      @bizzman4u 8 лет назад +1

      actually I learned a trick about going upstairs to departures.....just say your friends are upstairs waiting for you to drive you home :)

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

      bizzman4u Oh man that is a good one. But the airport should actually allow it to help reduce the long lines at the Metered taxi rank.

    • @bizzman4u
      @bizzman4u 8 лет назад +1

      another thing I just remembered......never ever put your suitcases in the trunk of the taxi because even if you agree on a price before you enter that is no guarantee that the driver wont ask for more when you arrive at your destination and if you don't give him the money he might hold your luggage as ransom and not give to you unless you give him what he wants....I know this is an unlikely scenario but I just believe in covering all possibilities :)

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

      bizzman4u Yes that has happened to me. I asked for the meter once I had already sat in the car and luggage in the back. I tried getting my luggage and leaving and he would not give it. So we negotiated a better price and off we went.

    We travel to the Philippine's every year and try to avoid Manila, but at Cebu Airport there is an information desk that you can go to, tell them which Hotel you are staying, and they will give you a chit which will have the fare on, you give this first to your taxi driver, and that's it, works every time for us,

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

      When you arrive use the Metered or Fixed rate taxi lines. Fixed rate is a little more but you don't have to wait or haggle over the price. Going back to the airport asking for a metered taxi, or use Uber. What I mean is some taxi's will not put on the meter, or ask for a higher price to the airport. This is common in rush hour as it can take 1-2 hours to get there. Hope that helps and thanks for watching =)

  • @jimcunningham61
    @jimcunningham61 8 лет назад

They really need to stop that. Its a huge turn off and start hitting these guys hard. Personally it makes me upset and makes my lady's country and people look bad. Thanks for sharing. I would like to see in the near future that that there is a huge sting operation.

      It is a shame but new travellers to Philippines need to be warned. The private cars and fake taxis can be very aggressive. Thanks for watching =)

      @enricocontrerasaraneta7290 8 лет назад

      advised to all incoming tourist/ first timer in the philippines...common sense just ignore all the the taxis/vehicles that are not accredited or not licensed to operate. you can easily know coz they have agressive touts....just ask the guards for official accredited taxis/ vehicles & stick to regular white taxis, yellow airport taxis, all airport private vehicles with uniformed driver( expensive ) only....hence no problem whatsoever

    Andrea's fiance is a lucky guy. I guess it's easier for filipinas to get temporary visas to Australia than it is to the USA. I tried twice to get a girl a Tourist Visa here in the states and it was denied both times.

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

      Hmm interesting. Maybe you have a higher volume of applications in USA, it is a bigger country. Also we don't know their full circumstances. But yes, luck guy indeed ;)

    • @marvinblankinchip2535
      @marvinblankinchip2535 6 лет назад

      Mikevoltage ... We must make room for the visa lottery so we can bring people to the U.S. that want to kill us. People from the Philippines have long been our friends so we can't have them coming here an messing up the political cesspool.

    Also the metered taxi location depends on what terminal you arrive at in Manila
    A lot of of these Asian destinations (Thailand, Philippines etc) have these so called White Plate cars waiting at the arrivals terminal and try to scam you into riding with them. So best to do your research like watching videos like yours so you don't get conned 3-5x the going rate.
    Don't be a victim

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

    I've literally jumped out of cabs in Manila because they refuse to use the meter.

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  8 лет назад

      Oh totally understand. It is the right thing to do. If they don't use the meter, they often try a few tricks. Once you are in the car they can take you to a random place and try something else. That is what happened to the Australian friend. If you don't feel safe get out of there.
