As a Filipino, I’m rooting for PAL to recover and eventually achieve their dream of becoming a five star airline. That being said, they really need to step up their game if they want to compete with the world’s best. I know considering the budget constraints, PAL won’t be able to make their economy class product as impressive as Singapore Airlines, JAL, or even Thai Airways, but that’s not an excuse for the cramped seats (especially on regional flights) and the lack of personal IFEs. And they really need to do something about their service. I noticed that the older flight attendants are the ones who are warmer and more attentive, while the younger FAs (at least in my experience) are more concerned about how they look. They only make an effort to be friendly with foreign passengers. On a red eye flight from Hanoi to Manila that I took in 2019, the two FAs assigned to my section were the surliest I’ve ever met. And as the plane was preparing to land, one of them walked down the aisle, yelling at passengers to put their seat rests up. I mean, if you can’t compete in terms of cabin design and layout, you should at least make sure your FAs can compete in terms of service.
Thank you for sharing your experience! On other routes, the cabin experience might not be up to par with other carriers (I remember when SMC was in charge of PAL, they tried to turn it into a low cost carrier, but it made money), but I think the A350 flights (New York, Bangkok) I had with them were good. I wonder how they’ll power through their 5-Star Airline push with their bankruptcy proceedings.
@@ExploreWithRonipe I guess they need to work on consistency. Be it long-haul, regional, or domestic flights, they should try to maintain a certain level of quality. Anyway, despite my grievances, PAL will always be my sentimental favorite. So I really do hope they make a full recovery.

Very nice and interesting video of your flight with PAL. You got their New A350. I might take PAL from LAX on April with B777-300ER. I hope all restrictions and rules will be lifted. 4 hrs is a good time to be at the airport especially now and if your flight is at day time. Ronipe maybe at this time it's not advisable because the plane is half full. There was nobody beside you. But if travel goes back to pre pandemic, maybe it is. Did your read about their new promo? @@ExploreWithRonipe Hi Ronipe, I like to give you a tip regarding your overweight carry on bag. I have this small Samsonite hand held scale. I carry that wherever we go. It's the size of a wallet 165 grams only. It can weigh up to 80 lbs/35 kg.. Good for your check in bags too. No battery needed. I bought it in Amazon for $12.00. You can weigh your bags before going to the airport. That's the last thing that goes into my carry on bag. When the check in employee tells me to weigh my carry on bag, it shows 14 lbs. No problem with security. There are other much smaller scales with electronic readings but still need a small battery. Stay safe always.
My wife and I flew to Manila via JFK PAL last February. I agree with your observation that meal service portions were very small. I suggest that anyone flying this overseas flight bring their own snacks to supplement their meals. The onboard entertainment had old movies in it. My wife's earphone jack was non operational. Completely disappointed with this flight. Plus 2 of our checked luggage were damaged.
Hi! Yes, the meals could be bigger. And you’re, I forgot about it already so I wasn’t able to mention it, my favorite suitcase got dents and scratches when I got it. I’m not sure if it’s a baggage handling issue in JFK or MNL, hard to find out.
Hi! No, I don’t think 4 hours is necessary. I just put some time buffer in case there were issues. I find it better to have extra wait time at the airport than to miss my flight for whatever reason. :)
Back in the day, I was taught by my dad to be at the airport three hours before my flight if it were international, and two for domestic. When I eventually worked as a ground staff agent for an international airline, I learned the flight starts boarding one hour before it's scheduled for push back (the time of departure). So whatever time you'd give as an allowance, you'd have to think of the time required for check in. Provided your carry-on luggage and your checked luggage both meet the weight limit, give yourself at least 10 minutes at the check-in counter. From the check-in counter to security, two to three minutes if it's not too faraway. TSA, on a good and very light day can be five minutes. The walk from TSA to the gate could take anywhere between two to three minutes if you're lucky and your gate is not at the end of a long terminal. So that's already 20 minutes in addition to just before the gate agent shuts the gate. But we know all these estimates only happen with an "if" and a big "if" that everything goes well. With PAL allowing two 50-lb checked luggage for economy passengers, and with the potential for overweight luggage and ticket or boarding pass issues, plus JFK being a busy terminal, my advice as a former ground agent? NEVER EVER cut it close for flights, even the flight connections you're putting in if you have them. For connecting flights, there should at least be two hours between the time your first flight arrives to the time your connecting flight leaves.
Hello I will be going on my first fight ever !! an it will be to the Philippines in august I could use some advice I’m extremely anxious and nervous 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hi! PAL's cabin crew said the WiFi may lose connection mid-flight, and it does. I just don't know at which point it loses connection, so I decided to use it up in the first hour.
@@ExploreWithRonipe thanks 👍😎 for being honest. I was just gonna book 🎟️ with them from USA to Philippines until u say that so I'll have to think about it hehe 😂. I got to have internet connection at all times.
A helpful report for me. I will be traveling in May 2022 from JFK.on PAL. Are there power outlets in the Economy class for laptops, Electronics devices? I will be bringing carry-on luggage and a small backpack, hopefully, I won't be overweight. I guess getting the Extra data WiFi would be needed.
Actually, I was on P127. When you said that it was a week ago, I'm not sure if we left the same day. My flight was on Feb 15th at 3:30am and ended up being delayed just under 2 hours. Other than the delay it was a good flight. It was my first time with Philippine Airlines and I flew Business Class. I was quite impressed.
My family and I will be traveling this upcoming June. Is there a weight limit on the personal purse that I can bring along with my carry on? I know the carry on weight limit is 15lbs, how about a laptop bag or a purse in my case?
Are in Philippine Airlines Economy class on long haul flights more seats in the same Aircraft then in other Companys? Meaning is there less space? You mentioned the legroom. But what about the width?
Hi, I don’t have hard numbers/measurements on the width, but they do have a 3-3-3 configuration on an A350, so that could be a starting point for comparison. :)
Do we need a Philippine one health pass if we are just there on a layover? Thank you for video I am looking at tickets and might use Philippine airlines for my round trip in September to November from Thailand to California.
I will be booking a ticket to Manila from JKF. How can I be able to use my phone that is Metro PCS company in Manila? What do I need to do? I don't plan in buying a phone in Manila
Hi! First, it would depend if your phone is locked to Metro PCS. If it is, maybe you can ask them to temporarily unlock it so you can use a local SIM card when you visit the Philippines. If they don't allow it, another option would be to rent a pocket WiFi device.
I have always flown Delta to MNL with a stop at Narita but with things opening up I would like to fly direct for me that would be LAX. Is the duty free the same as before in MNL? I always bought my gifts at the duty free in part to keep the baggage weight down.

How did you go about taking your test before your flight? PAL Straight flight is a 1:30am. 48 hours before would put you at the same time. So where do you get a test a 1:30 am before. I am hearing they are not accepting any test before 48 hours before your flight.
Hi! When I flew, the requirement was a test result from a specimen taken within 72 hours from the flight. But for now, there's an RT-PCR testing center that promises results in 1-3 hours in JFK Terminal 1.
Hello.thank you for the informative video.im traveling to Jfk to MNL next month i know they require 48hrs RT-PCR test i was just a little bit confused when to get my test my flight is tuesday 1:35AM..sunday morning to get the test done should be enough time?
Yes, Sunday 1:35AM based on my understanding, too. I think it may not be enough time if you will go to usual pharmacies. Your best bet maybe express PCR tests that promise results in a few hours. They are a bit pricey, but missing your flight may be much more expensive.
Thank you for this video very nice and cool video then I want to know is that if I take your Philippine Airlines to Manila going towards Cebu do I have to go through immigration in order to go to the domestic side to take Philippine Airline to Cebu? Please let me know
Hello!! I’m new to ur channel,my husband is leaving from JFK to MLA, can U tell me when is the best day & time to get the RT PCR test within 48 hrs prior to departure it’s confusing to figure out when, testin time here @ our place is from 8:00am to 7:00pm., Flight is on the 1st of March 1:30, Kindly help. Thanks Loly
There’s Adams Health Services in JFK Terminal 1. It’s a bit pricey but they promise results within 1-3 hours. Because of PAL’s flight time, it’s seems like you actually just have 1 day to get tested and get the results.
Im a Naturalized US citizen and I will be traveling back to Manila via balikbayan program this coming May 21, 2022. I am already retired and will be staying there for 6 months. Do I need a travel medical insurance on this trip. Please advise. Thanka.
From what I understand, the Philippines accepts tourists now. Please check with the relevant government websites for the requirements for your visitors from your country. Hope you have a fun and safe trip! :)
I stay away from PAL because they are too strict on cary on luggage and their flight is always full. Flown JAL, Delta, American, Cathay & Emirates and they never ask to weigh my carry on luggage. JAL now offer 1 free additional checkin luggage on top of the 2 50lbs. I get better value and service from other airlines than PAL
Yes, they are a bit more strict with the luggage, I agree with you. I’ve never tried JAL, but I’ve tried Korean Air, and I like their service a lot, too. But a non-stop flight to the US, only PAL can do that now.
I flew with them back in 2020 before the pandemic and had no issues with carry on luggage. 15 pound carry on and my personal item. Laptop bag was accepted.
What is the requirements going to the Philippines right now because I want to go to Cebu from New York and I cannot get vaccinated because I am fully allergic
I have a video on it which you can watch here: ruclips.net/video/Tliv4PQ9vac/видео.html As far as I know, you can travel even if you're unvaccinated, but you have to undergo hotel quarantine. You may check with the Bureau of Quarantine or search online for the most updated requirements. :)

Na-tempt ako mag-unlimited wifi actually para di mabore, kaso naalala ko nga na nawawala, di bale na lang. Haha. Nice, gusto ko talaga yung mga A350 ng PAL (yang nasa video). Sayang they have to give up most of these planes para sa debt restructuring nila. Thanks for the nice feedback! :)
Took my very first flight with PAL on Dec.2021,very disappointing 3 bathrooms clogged!!!Nasty. My friend took flight on Feb 2022 ,same problem ,clogged toilets.Never again, nakakahiya, embarrassing!
Oh, I’m not sure about that, Filipino citizen kasi ako. But before the pandemic, I know walang visa application need for a US citizen to enter the Philippines. Best to check the official websites now :)
PAL is the worst flying experience I ever had from check-in to landing. PAL has this very annoying business operating procedure of WAITING for VIPs who are very late for the flight. Flight service is mediocre and you end up very hungry and dehydrated. And as they say PAL stands for PAL Always Late. And I almost forgot to mention that the price for the fare is more expensive than other airlines. One flight has taught me not to fly again.
Hi! It’s unfortunate that that was what you experienced. I’ve also had my share of bad experiences (I remember having my domestic flight delayed for 6+ hours because their plane did not leave Manila). On this last flight I had with them, they were good - not excellent, but not bad either, somewhere in the middle. Oh, and I totally agree about the fares being too high compared to the competition!
Different people had different bad experiences flying with PAL. It doesn’t matter if you were on a business class seat , still you will come across the inconvenient flight because of their protocols during the pandemic years. My friend went home last March and paying $5k for a business class ticket with PAL yet she was stressed out until she arrived in ManilaI. I had only one nightmares with PAL since then i switched to Delta and became a Skymiles member and earned mileage and I already flew for free from Delta! For domestic and international flights. Although its a little bit more money for the ticket but its worth it because of their services.
You don't have to check your carry-on bag at JFK just walk with it that's it I never heard that before because I fly out of JFK I don't know what the hell Philippine is doing but you take your carry-on luggage and you take your personal item I guess that's what you mean
Hi Vilma, most airlines now are strict with their Carry On luggage. That's what happened to Ronipe . They allow you 2 check in luggage . Most Asian airlines weigh your Carry on to the allowed weight about 15 lbs depending on your airline. Cebu Pacific is very strict on this. China Southern will not allow carry on bags on board. I wanted to fly with them but because of that I took another airline. Only small personal item is allowed. Other airlines don't weigh them as long as it is Carry on size bag.
It's okay not too shabby it's just okay not great but just alright I don't like the food because I don't need spicy foods and I don't like the curry that's nasty I was just wondering if they got regular chicken with rice or do they serve lasagna or hamburgers that will be a lot better I also want to know if other airline's I take with me a ham and cheese sandwich and I also take a bowl with rice and pork chops I want to know if I could take that on Philippine Airlines I know it's a long flight is the TV any good that they give good movies or anything else I can watch because this is a very long flight and I hope I don't have to wear a facial with my mass that is very ridiculous alright thank you for the video like I said it's okay just nice take care God bless
I'm not sure what the standard for airline meal portions is, but yeah, I remember with Singapore Airlines and Korean Airlines, there's just so much food. But that was pre-pandemic, so I don't know now.

Hello ! Are there wifi plan you can purchase on this flight ? If so, did you remember their rate ? Thanks

Hello I will be going on my first fight ever !! an it will be to the Philippines in august I could use some advice I’m extremely anxious and nervous 🙏🏽🙏🏽
This vlog is helpful. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your vacation. New friend from Canada. See you
Thank you for the feedback and for watching! Stay safe!
Just the video 📸 I'm looking for, so with the WiFi internet you only were able to use it for 1 hour and no more for the rest of the flight 🛫?
Hi, newly subscribed here from Silicon Valley. Where did your aircraft refuel?
Thanks for subscribing! We did not stop for refueling, it was just one very long flight from New York to Manila.
@@ExploreWithRonipe Oh my, a real long-haul journey.
Hi! I’m not sure about laptops, but there’s was a USB port where I charged my phone.
was it that to hard for you to push the button in lavatories 😅😅😅😅anyways just sayin
Hahaha. No, it wasn't. But you know, bacteria/viruses. 😅
Nice….I was on that flight.
Nice! Hope you had a good trip, too!
Thanks for sharing..
You're welcome and thanks for watching!
How many bags did you take in the cabin
Hi! I remember having 1 carry-on bag plus a 'personal effects' bag for my computer. :)
Did you have other items in the computer bag
Kuya, bakit po bago eroplano kapag NY flight, tapos po, kapag LA flight, luma. Very sad 😅🐓
Hahaha. Nako… di ko rin alam 😅 Pero igigive na rin ng PAL iba nilang bagong eroplano dahil sa bankruptcy filing nila due to COVID. Sad.
Message mo po ako. Help kita sa channel mo kahit papano. Salamat po.
I did understand a word you said at first
Thank you for the feedback. I’ll try to enunciate better moving forward.
Do passengers need the covid vaccination card to shown as well?
Yeah portions were small but i am sure if PAL service and branding dept would add more if they see our comments
It would be very nice if they did! :)
@@ExploreWithRonipe Thank you
@@ExploreWithRonipe I just checked another video about the turkish Airlines A350 and they actually have the same seat configuration.
@@ExploreWithRonipe can you recommend me a WiFi pocket device that actually works good for international traveling?
I have always flown Delta to MNL with a stop at Narita but with things opening up I would like to fly direct for me that would be LAX. Is the duty free the same as before in MNL? I always bought my gifts at the duty free in part to keep the baggage weight down.
I don't think there's much duty-free shops in MNL Terminal 2 (or I just didn't find them). I think they are more in Terminals 1 & 3.
here is an example,it may be hard for people to understand accented english,it was hard to understand my wife(philipina),but for a weird reason I understood her in person, sometimes when I hear my inlaws talk it sounds like yelling, its not but it does.may slow down a bit,it might help. I do like the video
question po kc my anak aq n ADHD Diagnosed, ilang munites po ang walking from check in to the gate for philippines Airlines salamat po.malapit lng ba ang walking ?
hows d actual weather in NYC during January? i hope d health reqts in d coming months will relax so I can revisit NYC in der summer season.
It was still cold and there was snow on some days. Yes, I hope travel restrictions slowly get lifted as we move on from the pandemic.
@@ExploreWithRonipe thanks sa info.yeah i really hope malift na ung mga travel reqts.aftr all may booster shot na naman.i hope everything will back to "new normal" maski facemask na lang sana.hahaha.is der a quarantine wen u arrive NY?.. miss NYC...
@@aptjournal2241 Self isolation for 10 days ang guideline nung dumating ako.
so i have a question pwede akong magbayad ng wi-fi plan kahit hindi naman ako nagbayad ng airline ticket plano namin umuwi ng pilipinas this month of july
Hi! Di ko alam for sure, pero I would assume na pwede kasi sa cabin crew ka magbabayad. Let me/us know kapag na-try mo para alam din namin. Safe flight! :)
You have to get it within 48 hours time peroid
So for example if your flight leaves at 130 on the fifith you get it after 130 on the third
@@mikerussell7366 Thank you
Hm ang New York to mnl
Where did you have your RT-PCR Test taken?
How many hours from new york to manila is that a direct flight or there is a stop over somewhere!
Hi! About 17 hours non-stop.
Hi po gamit nyo parin ba DJI ACTION cam
Hi! Yes, mga airport and boarding footage were filmed with the Osmo Action :)
Did you have to pay for the on-flight meals?
Hi! No, in-flight meals are complimentary. :)
Because of PAL’s flight time, it’s seems like you actually just have 1 day to get tested and get the results.
where to get covid 19 test in new york?
Im a Naturalized US citizen and I will be traveling back to Manila via balikbayan program this coming May 21, 2022. I am already retired and will be staying there for 6 months. Do I need a travel medical insurance on this trip. Please advise. Thanka.
Hi. Do i still need to have covid health insurance since im a filipino citizen?
I wish Philippine Airlines would start nonstop service from Chicago
That would be awesome! I’m not a big fan of layovers either. :)
can a tourist visiting 1st time can travel to philippines
Kailangn b ng faceshield
Nope! Di kailangan ng face shield sa flight. :)
I never heard the luggage drop off counter you mean the checking counter
The baggage drop counter is for the passenger who already checked in online. :)
How much does the ticket cost?
Hi! Depending on the date, the cheapest fares based on my searches before range from $1,200-2,000 round trip.
Whats your proof of vax you showed?
Hi! I showed my VaxCertPH certificate.
Helo just wanna ask about 1 health pass san po kukunin un pauwi po ako pinas this coming sat.
Hi! Sa www.onehealthpass.com.ph. Please check din with your airline and/or BOQ kung kailangan pa rin nga, yan kasi nung umalis ako. :)
What is the requirements going to the Philippines right now because I want to go to Cebu from New York and I cannot get vaccinated because I am fully allergic
I have a video on it which you can watch here: ruclips.net/video/Tliv4PQ9vac/видео.html
As far as I know, you can travel even if you're unvaccinated, but you have to undergo hotel quarantine. You may check with the Bureau of Quarantine or search online for the most updated requirements. :)
60 mb of free WiFi for economy class. Very short data.
I agree. Just enough for chatting and text emails, in my opinion.
Yung plane nila na my KISS un luma. As in luma pati CR. pero okay content mo bro. Goodluck!!
Oh, that is indeed not a very nice experience.
A-350 Aircraft
Yes!
Very sad you can't see what the crew look like in their uniforms with those hazmat suits. Covid Airlines.
Oh, I’m not sure about that, Filipino citizen kasi ako. But before the pandemic, I know walang visa application need for a US citizen to enter the Philippines. Best to check the official websites now :)

this video was rushed, too inpersonal, couldnt understand final score fail
Thank you for the feedback. I’ll put them into consideration for making my future videos better.
I love filipina women
As usual, PAL will really starve you with those skimpy meals. Not good before, and still good now.
I'm not sure what the standard for airline meal portions is, but yeah, I remember with Singapore Airlines and Korean Airlines, there's just so much food. But that was pre-pandemic, so I don't know now.
