I believe I understand your point of view, which is similar to the independent Baptist church I attended as a young adult, where all types of drums were forbidden. You consider the types of instruments used, volume, pitch, rhythm etc. So would you then say that the sound and rhythm of harps and lyres for example is more akin to the type of music that glorifies God? Reason I ask is because there are also people who would say that yoga music with its soft, steady tones is also ungodly and represents idol worship. I personally enjoy listening to almost all genres of Christian music, except for rap and rock. I just went and looked at the lyrics of Skillet’s most popular video on YT “Feel Invincible,” and can say that the song is more “I” focused and less “God” focused. I think we also need to examine the recording artists themselves, like Chris Tomlin, Shane and Shane, and others who for the most part have traditionally had great worshipful lyrics and melodies, yet some of their associations are not good, the events they in participate in are questionable, and the ticket prices being charged for VIP seats is outrageous. And the annual “awards ceremonies,” well that’s a topic for another discussion. Personally, I have stopped listening to most mainstream “Christian” music in the past couple of years.

God's spirit teaches him all things and warns him whenever there is any deviation. John 16:13 - However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; For the immature christian though, most worldly things seem ok But as a christian matures in faith, he starts to hate the things that were once ok to do, because God convicts Him of them. A Christian's aim is to become more like Christ. 1John 4:17b - because as He is, so are we in this world. John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease. 💯 God is a God of order and not of confusion. 1 Corinthians 14:40 - Let all things be done decently and in order. 1Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. Conclusion: Rock music is worldy and does not encourage holiness. Those who don't want to repent of it will sooner or later stand in front of God and give an account of their life to Him. Mark 9:42 - But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. 1 Peter 4:5 - They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. Hebrews 4:13 - And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
