Careless Whisper!! It has it all, one of the funnest tracks and makes you feel like a hero. Loved it when it was first cut in with the tinsel and cardboard cut out. Can’t wait to go ride it again, and again and again 🤌
Favourite trail was easily Careless Whisper. Ridden it before and it’s definitely one of my favourites at Glentress. Awesome fun and amazing when you find that flow state. Sick video too👏🏼
It’s Careless Whisper for me - steep, technical with some brief bits of respite on the flowy bermed sections with some nice drops and a bit of pop... bit of everything, perfect 👌
Ha ha. It was OK right until the end. The weather can really still take a turn at this time of year. If you want to enter the competition check the community page for details. I appreciate it might be a bit out of your distance!
Hi Richard. Good news... You won the competition! Can you PM me on Facebook or Instagram so that I can get some details. As well as the Ridelines coaching we also have a few goodies for you 🥰
Awesome buddy. If you tell me your favourite trail in the video we can get you entered into the Ridelines competition. Check my community feed, insta, or Facebook page for more info 👍
That all looked mint. Just booked a long weekend up there in September so will have to scope out some of these trails 👍 Thanks for another brilliant video!
Ho Chi Minh for me. It really helped regain some of my confidence when I got back into mtb properly again last year. Good luck to those entering the competition!
The video is amazing as always. All the trails look awesome but I really like how ho chi min looks and can't wait to give them all a blast. Bumped into at Glentress about a month ago you are a gent of a man keep up the amazing work xxx
All the trials look class,i just moved to Scotland 2 year ago from Northern Ireland, and haven't had a chance to get down, 😢 canny wait for lock down to be over to get some gnar done, street pigeon your the berries bro love the videos 🙌🏴🏴❤
That is so kind of you fella! It's great that the vids are getting out there for folks to see and, more importantly, folks are liking the vids. Hopefully you'll get a chance to get down here this spring/summer 👍
First time riding at glentress for me this week while my kids were in lessons and absolutely loved it got a few trails added to the list for next visit from this vid, careless whisper topping that list so far
That is awesome mate. I'm so pleased the vids are being found by trail hunters, also people new to the area. Careless Whisper is fantastic. I have another video out on Monday just showing a top to bottom of a trail you need to try! Take care and let me know how you get on at Careless Whisper 😁
Favourite bit of the vid was the “no dabs track” just because it’s something I try and do on my regular rides. I definitely need some coaching on my cornering and steep stuff so this prize would be amazing, especially if I get to ride Glentress again to do it. Keep up the great content.
Careless Whisper is a great trail and my fav out of those ridden in this vlog - very different character depending upon the weather. Crashed on it 5 times when I rode it in the wet last year after my rear brake lever had snapped off after a minor tree hugging incident on Thunderstruck moments earlier!
careless whisper is my favourite I've road it before near the end of the day and was quite tired I crashed in to the little pine tree on the out shoot at the end love the videos keep the coming
Thanks Grant. I think the exit of the trail is really tricky. You can't let your guard down until you are out the trees. Thanks for the positive comment and good luck in the competition 👍
Ah, nice one mate. I'll probably be heading the opposite way and checking out Hamsterley again! Enjoy it when you get here mate and let me know if you need any advice on must-do trails / locations 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb cheers, I will do. Same if you want to know some out the way trails in hamsterley. I know a few lads that would be good guides too. 🤙
Got to be empire of dirt, its up my street for skill set and confidence plus with the added scenery on the trial is just perfect, like a scene from starwars. Superb video as always
I have never been to Glentress but by the looks of it Careless whisper & empire of dirt seem really good. Hoping to have a day there when the EWS is on at inners, make a weekend of it. 😎👍 well done on the 4k subs 👏
Great video! Careless Whisper is one of the trails I’m trying to session just now because there’s a bit I’ve not quite got yet. A brilliant trail, although I do miss the George Michael cardboard cut out!
Ha ha. I miss George too! Thanks Becca. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I too am working on my session game. It really is the way to improve isn't it?! Thanks for commenting 😁
Love Ho Chi Min, it definitely gives you a false sense of security when you come of the brakes and let the bike do its thing! Amazing scenery and views too 🚵♂️
I had never seen these trails before but my favourite one was empire of dirt. The way that it seems like it is trickier than than it looks. Aren't they always.
Some of my favourite trails there mate! Hchimin is just awesome from the top to bottom. If you link the other trails from the tower all the way down to hydro it's an awesome endro route! Great videos as always Jamie stay safe and well 🤘
Yet to make the trip down to the tweed valley from moray but careless whisper looks fun! You should ride up north in the summer theres loads of good trails in Moray area.
Hi mate. I'm hoping to get up your way when restrictions ease. The plan for the channel had always been to visit different locations but we went into lockdown before I really got started 😔
Ho Chi Min looked epic; fun and scary in equal parts! All the trails in the vlog looked amazing but that one stood out for me 🤙 Couple of moments where I have no idea how you stayed on two wheels...awesome riding bro 👏👊 The vlog flowed brilliantly, loved it sir, but was over too soon! Cheers, Andy
Careless whisper has to be my favourite, it has a good variety of features. Empire of dirt is a great trail, different to other trails in the valley as it has less gravity to carry you over features, plenty of roots to catch you out. Ho chim in is great for a fast blast to finish the day.
Loved Ho Chi Min fast and rough. Never ridden any Glentress but hopefully get there in the next few weeks and if there was some tuition before I get there even better.
Awesome Douglas. Good luck in the comp and either way, have a good time when you visit. Hopefully the vids I have can give you a few ideas of trails and places to ride 😁
Ho Chi Minh - BOOM!! But let’s be fair... any of those trails would be awesome to ride. Alas most of us don’t have anything local like that to ride. Can’t wait to travel for trails 👊🏽😎
I really enjoyed watching Ho Chi Minh, it was one of the first off piste trails I've ridden in Scotland. Awesome views! Interesting to see the difference in speed between us 😂🙈
@@streetpigeonmtb I moved to Scotland from Cornwall 6 months ago for a job in forestry. I have a feeling I'll be up here for a long time 😁 (Tweed Valley) 😁
From that selection it has to be Careless Whisper for me - holds up pretty decent in different weathers, is nice and varied including some really fun swoopy bits and is great bang for your buck. HCM is great if you need to test out your suspension though 😁
I can’t believe I wasn’t already subscribed 🙈 I don’t think I’ve ridden any of these trails, will have to explore when we can visit! Careless Whisper looks great but scary 😂
Ha ha. No problem at all Kate! It will be so nice to have you guys up here. Let me know and we can hopefully have you round for some garden drinks as well 😁
They all looked great but I am with the majority in saying Careless Whisper takes it. The combination of more sustained gradient and plenty of features to keep you busy along with some high speed stuff does it for me. But a quick shout out also for Berm Baby Berm at the end brings back memories of our first trip to GT when my boys were young and all they wanted to do was lap after lap of BBB!
Ha ha! I'm at that stage. An 8 and a 6 year old who love finding that bit of flow! Isn't that what makes MTB the best mate. Progression, memories, all that stuff. Thanks for taking time to comment and good luck in the comp 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb I've only been out on the little Bonaly trails so far but hit my first jumps there over the Bank Holiday weekend and now I cant wait to get to glentress once the rules change 🤩
Fairy Liquid looked like decent type 2 fun - I'm a fairly ambitious beginner but slightly apprehensious about super steep sections, and find root riding actually pretty enjoyable for some reason. Really keen to get to visit Tweed Valley at some point 🤙
Cheers Ross. I still find super steep stuff plays mind games with me so you are not alone. Fairy Liquid is a really good trail to practise your technical riding. I was well pleased not to dab! Hopefully you'll get a visit soon. Maybe even for a Ridelines course if you win!
Hcm is right good, for me it’s hard not to think of how bad a crash would be as speeds tend to be pretty high in the rough stuff. Although I have to admit, I’ve a soft spot for fairy liquid, nostalgic memories of no dab/ keep momentum challenges. Like a lot of local trails when I started riding and didn’t have a car. I def make an effort to ride fairy liquid when I’m in that part of Glentress. Anyway, good content. Thumbs up.
Thank you mate. Yeah, trails like Fairy Liquid seem to have gone out of fashion a bit these days but they definitely have a place in my opinion. They are so good for developing core bike handling skills 👏
The best trail from the video has to be Berm Baby Berm, surely?! haha. The best trail in Scotland that is! Barring BBB, it has to be Careless Whisper for me.- nothing says Tweed Valley to me more than snaking through the trees! Can't wait to get the AM9 back down to the Tweed Valley come April 26th!
@@streetpigeonmtb aaaabsolutely loving it mate! 👊 I managed to get it just before the industry all well nuts last year and it's just an absolute dream! 🤙
Jamie, mint as per ace! Comp answer Ho Chi Min, its flat fast but requires real cocentration to ride it well. Two Qs pse. What inserts did you insert? Thoughts on the onsie . Thank you
I've gone with Nukeoroof ARD for the inserts. Cheap and easy to fit. The only issue I've heard about is that they can lengthen over time so at some point you might need to shorten and cable tie them - otherwise they can make a rumbling sound apparently. So far I really rate them though. You can run a good 2-3 psi less but still feel supported 👍 The onesie is great. Defo a specialist piece of clothing though. For days when it is raining hard it is super cold. Above about 10 degrees temp and you'll get seriously toasty!
Careless whisper is my favourite! Love how the berms just keep coming and it's quite long (Similar to golfie stuff kinda) But don't get me wrong, it's an intense enduro trail with some steep gnarly bits!
It seems to be a real favourite amongst a lot of the comments here. I totally get why. I do agree with you on the distance front. There is something really nice about being in a trail for a decent chunk of time!
Never managed to tick careless whisper off my list yet. Empire of dirty and fairly liquid are nice and techy. Enjoy them for something different. However my favourite has to be Ho Chi Minh. As fast as you dare go and it definitely keeps you on your toes. Be on the edge down there is definitely an adrenaline rush being on the ragged edge down the Open section. Takes a while for the eyes to stop ratting in their sockets once you are out of the trail
Another wonderful video. Great biking skills and entertainment. What was the tyre liner you were putting in? I assume to prevent punctures. Cheers. Stoozer.
Hey mate. I've fitted Nukeproof ARD front and rear. Firstly for rim and puncture protection but also for the damping. I'm running relatively light tyre casings so hopefully with the inserts they end up being as robust as Double Downs with slightly improved damping 👍
Love Ho Chi Min for a pretty weird reason... I remember the first time I rode it and took and belter of a tumble on it and rode it like a donkey. Actually a 3 legged donkey could ride the trail better than I did that day. Anyway, it’s certainly a trail I felt I’ve progressed on and seeing a noticeable difference in my riding, hence my enjoyment!! How do you find the inserts?
Hi mate. So far the inserts are excellent. I bought the ARD as a muppet like myself cab fit them easily. You can run the tyres about 2-4 psi lower quite easily. They work brilliantly over rock and really dampen the trail. I've heard with the ARD they can lengthen over time and may need cut down. That hasn't happened yet but it is early days!
That first trail.. "super intense"... "scary"... 😲. and sorry about the commentary!!!..has to be the winning trail for me!!!.. You looked to ride it well to me😎👍
Careless Whisper is a total winner, rowdy but not too steep. It was best when there was tinsel and an actual cardboard cutout of the late great George himself lurking in the woods behind a berm!
Brutal conditions. Well riden. Great job as always. Were you running tubes before you put the inserts in? Notice a big difference? Can’t wait to get back up the road again. Ride Safe mate.
Hi mate. I was Tubeless before inserts and the difference is huge. You'll notice going from tubes to Tubeless first of all. The tyre responds differently to the terrain, almost more supple IMO. Adding the inserts retains the initial suppleness but also adds a lovely damped feel. You can run the PSI very low for that initial grip but there is a nice feel as you stuff starts to be absorbed by the insert itself 👍
Nice video.... which camera and camera setting are you using? it looks great in spite of the low light conditions....stabilization usually is nos good with these light conditions...
Sorry to hear that. I'm sure the guys at Ridelines could help you with that. Good luck in the comp. Because this isn't a massive channel you should have pretty decent odds!
Yeah. I'm with you on that Ross. I like the feeling of speed and just being out in the open. Especially on a nice day when the sun is shining and the air is still 😁
Actually, tress can be really dry. However the Western Trails do not drain as well and are often pretty wet! You should comment on your favourite trail in the vid and we can get you entered into the Ridelines competition that goes alongside this vlog 👍
WooHoo - competition!! Subscribe to youtube channel - Check Watch latest vlog - Check Like vlog - Check Fav trail - Ho chi Minh Great vlog Jamie, love the look of first but especially the last trail. What a competition prize, pure belter!!!!!
@@streetpigeonmtb True enough. I put in ard inserts last year but have yet to get back down to the valley since, thanks to Rona, so I've yet to get the full benefit 🤞.
@@streetpigeonmtb So far so good. Theres a savage rocky section on my route out of the Pentlands that I've ruined two tyres and a rim on in the past (e-bike too) and I PRd it on Friday without so much as a ding. I really liked the valves she the fact that my non-superhuman forearms and fingers can get them fitted!
Yeah. That was the decider for me. I think there are probably better protectors out there however many of them just look impossible to fit. For me the ARD had the best balance of cost, ease of fit and protection. I'm interested to see how they perform over time 👍

Can’t beat a good run of careless whisper 👍
Fast with little bit of tech at the bottom.
Need to get my self back to GT
Yup. Very fast when you and Laura ride it... The speed team indeed!
It'll be so good when we can travel mate. How are you finding the AM9?
@@streetpigeonmtb aaaabsolutely loving it mate! 👊 I managed to get it just before the industry all well nuts last year and it's just an absolute dream! 🤙
The only thing I'm considering is swapping out the Deluxe Select+ for a SuperDeluxe air or coil! Think that would just be the icing
Awesome. Yeah, I'm still in love with mine. How lucky were you to get one before it all went crazy?! Mad times 😜
@@calumhunter8884 that's funny. I'm thinking exactly the same! I'd love to try a coil. I think it would be pretty incredible!
Ho Chi Minh. Love a fast, techy trail
It's a good one for sure 👍
Gotta be careless whisper bud! Best part is trying to keep pace with you through those turns hah
Ha ha. I'm just trying to keep ahead of you. I can hear you chasing me down!
You can run a good 2-3 psi less but still feel supported 👍
The onesie is great.
Ho chi min is really good , rode it last Sunday and because of the speed you can get caught out very easily.
Agree. There are some pretty big loose rocks. They are defo the things that scare me the most!
Absolutely. I always get nervous on the loose rock as well. Super fun but very high consequence if it were to go a bit pear shaped 🙈
@@streetpigeonmtb tell me about it. I caught a rut slightly wrong the last time out and Ho Chi Minh turned into Ho Lee Sh**e for a few brief seconds 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🙈💩
Tbh careless whisper looked alot of fun. Cant beat a bit of flow with a little bit of tech thrown in
Yeah. It's a really well designed trail 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb Nice. As ever, thank you for responding. Much appreciated. Stoozer.
No problem at all. I love have connection with all of you. Take care and stay safe bud 👍
Careless whisper and those two tight trees at the end of the flat section.
Ha ha. Yeah, they feel like a squeeze every time!
Was cold at the local today can’t imagine how cold it was down the road 🥶
Big fan of careless whisper but thunder struck for the win lol
I hear you. I still haven't ridden TS when it has been in decent conditions. I think after a long dry spell that trail would be epic!
Awesome trails!! I'd like the private tuition to be able to tackle them all
Of course. Make sure you tell us your favourite trail from the video then we can get you entered! 😁
@@streetpigeonmtb oh it's gotta be careless whisper!
Thank you!
That hasn't happened yet but it is early days!
gotta be Careless Whisper, just has a bit of everything. hopefully be back soon
Not too long now mate 🙌
That first trail.. "super intense"... "scary"... 😲. and sorry about the commentary!!!..has to be the winning trail for me!!!.. You looked to ride it well to me😎👍
Thanks mate. Yeah, I was pleased with the riding. There is just a hell of a lot going on! 😁
Careless Whisper is a total winner, rowdy but not too steep. It was best when there was tinsel and an actual cardboard cutout of the late great George himself lurking in the woods behind a berm!
I remember that! Maybe they can get a more permanent fixture for George... A statue? 🤣
Loved fairy liquid because you were so despret to get no dabs
Ha ha! I was well chuffed with that 😁
Hi chi Min as it's fun to just fly down it
Yup! It certainly is 👍
Hi chi min every time!!
😍🙌
Favourite has to be careless whisper although I haven't tied ho chi min
CW is great mate. Defo get HCM on your list though. Just make sure your tyres are in good nick as it has the potential to cause some damage! 🙈
Favourite trail has to be ho chi min since it’s so fun to let off the brakes and smash thru those roots
It is lovely. Such a sense of speed 😁
Ho Chi Min because it’s a pretty good trail with tonnes of line choices! Different every time you go up 🤣
It is a great trail, really under-rated. It scares me but I love it 👍
Ho chi min as it looks super fun.
Super-fast fun indeed!
Awesome vid Jamie. I thought the fast section before you got to the start of Ho Chi Minh looked ace, what trail is that? Cheers for filming, Andy
Let me check on the official name...
Hi Andy. I think that was still Carl's Lane 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb sweet. Might be worth considering. I run tubeless but am quite prone to rim dinging😱.
Keep up the sterling work
Nice video.... which camera and camera setting are you using? it looks great in spite of the low light conditions....stabilization usually is nos good with these light conditions...
It's a Hero 7 Black mate. I been playing around with various settings from Abe Kislevitz 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb cheers mate, I'll check it!!
Careless whisper. I finally made it down the Shute without falling off a few weeks ago! 😁
Good job! I need to try and get the left line on the chute sorted! Thanks for commenting and good luck in the competition 👍
Done Ho Chi Min a few years ago. Would love tuition as lost confidence after dislocating my shoulder last year. Would help with bike position
Sorry to hear that. I'm sure the guys at Ridelines could help you with that. Good luck in the comp. Because this isn't a massive channel you should have pretty decent odds!
Ho Chi Minh is a good laugh.
Yeah. I'm with you on that Ross. I like the feeling of speed and just being out in the open. Especially on a nice day when the sun is shining and the air is still 😁
@@streetpigeonmtb nobody asked for your opinion lol
@@MTBScotland ha ha. No, I just thought i'd give it though! : )
Looks moister than an oyster. Assuming tress always wetter than inners? Nice to see non bike park trails as there are plenty of belters
Actually, tress can be really dry. However the Western Trails do not drain as well and are often pretty wet! You should comment on your favourite trail in the vid and we can get you entered into the Ridelines competition that goes alongside this vlog 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb hmmm, either Thunderstruck or Dave's Trail or Hush Hush.....lets go with Thunderstruck!!
None of them were in the vid! 😉
@@streetpigeonmtb muppet....careless whisper...
🤣 Not at all! I just wanted to make sure you got an entry to the comp mate. Cheers for taking time to watch and comment 👍
Ho Chi Minh for me Jamie. Being a tree & root coward I like the open spaces.
Ha ha. If you are getting down Ho Chi Min with any sort of speed then you aren't too much of a coward 😁🙌👍
@@streetpigeonmtb I didn’t say I was fast though 😂
Ha ha! It's all relative 😁
Ho chi Minh for the views.
Yeah. You can't really knock the views up there 🙌
What camera settings do you use , that footage is way better than mine
4K30, Hypersmooth, Superview, EV standard, min iso 100, max iso 3200, white balance 5500k. I think they are the main ones mate 👍
My favourite trail of these is Fairy Liquid
(Not really)
That response begs a bit more questioning! 🤣 We'll get you entered into the comp. If you win you can tells us what your favourite trail is... really!
@@streetpigeonmtb thank you! I love your videos
No worries. Thanks so much for the positivity mate 👍

Great vlog Jamie, love the look of first but especially the last trail. What a competition prize, pure belter!!!!!
Just saw this. Thank god as I'm just about to pick the winner!
I like HCM, because I hate my wrists and my ankles.
Ha ha! You can probably add tyres and rims to that list as well!
@@streetpigeonmtb True enough. I put in ard inserts last year but have yet to get back down to the valley since, thanks to Rona, so I've yet to get the full benefit 🤞.
Ah nice. How did you rate the ARDs before Rona hit? So far I'm really impressed 👍
