    My favorite city in China. When i was there in 2006 you didnt have to pay an "entry fee" and the steps across the river where just old wood pilings. The mountains were covered with ice. An unbelievable site. Hope to visit there again soon.

    A very well done report on the things one must go and see within the hunan province, showing just like it really is and documented so well as Manfred observed just everything critical with an open mind - sad that he did not go and see the Charming Xingxi Show in Zhangjiajie or did he and it was impossible to film the scenery in the theatre - Herzlichen Dank Manfred ! Meine Familie was im November 2013 dort und wir ueberlegen uns ob wir noch einmal einen Urlaub dort verbringen sollten - es war einfach umwerfend schoen und behaglich.

      This days there is even more to see and do in this area of Zhangjiajie, new access roads and new chair & cabin lifts going up from the "other side" up now. You may know about the glass walk way, so you may like the new glass bridge in the Tianmen Mountain area and you have to see the Fox Fairy Show ( closed during winter ) , an open air event on the bottom of the Tianmen Mountain that will fascinate and mesmerize you for close to two hours in total.

    Ah, memories! I visited ZhangJiaJie in spring 2010 and Fenghuang in the autumn. I well remember the boat trips and the walk up the chasm on the way to the Miao village.
    And Adamba100 is right, its 湖南省 not 福建省。
    That elevator up the cliff face was wroth the wait in the queue! In fact the whole thing was a wonderful experience. Thanks for this video.

    At 11:47 The sign right above the heads of the geese says:"This store does not serve Japanese". I guess the Japanese must have done some bad things there during the war.

    these places changed my mind on visiting China.. but is that and earthquake prone area?

    • @johnsamu
      @johnsamu 7 лет назад +1

      Any major earthquake would have leveled these old houses. So when you see old houses like that the earthquake risk is probably not that high. But it's easy to check online which parts/provinces of China have a bigger risk of earthquakes.

      No not at all, there will be the occasional flood after heavy rain and the water will be gone within days. Locals work hard to get it all back to normal, we have been there only three weeks after the town was flooded. Our friend from Wulingyuan had sent pictures when the food peaked and so unbelievable, it looked like it never happened when we finally arrived.

    • @AOWarwick
      @AOWarwick 7 лет назад

      Phoenix Town, or Fenghuang is in it's present stage already 900 years old and not a single sign of sinking or cracking up. They do have after a flood the occasional problem with phone lines and electricity supply - but this was / is always fixed within hours of occurring. If you like old tradition and a mix of new way entertainment and night live, this is one of the places you want to be !
