I've seen this man 20 times. He always brings it. He never sings a song twice the same way. He always pays tribute to his musical influences, i.e. "James Brown, Elvis Presley, Ray Charles". This man embodies music.
Eric, thank you man. This song was my and my best friends anthem when we were 19 in 1975. Have seen him and the original Animals, the last time about I don't know, 5-7 years ago in Sacramento, CA. He was better than ever!
My God...My Dear God... inserting the Liverpool Lads, Elvis, James Brown & Ray Charles into the last verse Got Me, because those pioneers Got to Him back then, when He was Young. really?...tell me: how in the hell did he write & perform such Mature Lyrics back then? “When I Was Young, It’s My Life, We Gotta Get Out, House o/t Rising Sun,” are all written from an Elder’s perspective, but Burdon delivered then to us without questions. I know he didn’t write all of those tunes, but he brought them to us with a Youthful Revel, Revolting, Matter-of-Fact, In-Your-Face but more In-Your-Mind, Honesty that only He Can & Has Done. when a White Dude can Sell You on His ‘Hard Times’ through Blues & Rock Music, then it’s Special. Thank God for The Animals. Unreal.
A wonderful perspective. Yes, i often wondered why a leader of rock music, in his heyday as a symbol of an emerging strong youth, could write a song from the perspective of advanced age, looking back at youth...... Bravo, Eric. I am so glad to be able to hear your voice ringing out. A Unique message that rings true regardless of time......🌠. You Nailed this one, my friend....And Sky Pilot is also a gift beyond measure. 🌅. Peace to you always....
@@mesch368 - it’s nice to hear from another that appreciates what he brought. Sky Pilots is also a favorite of mine. he’s just so good…probably because he was supported in his art at an early age by his folks. that’s a reminder to me, as a Dad.
@@corporalclegg914 Thank you for your insight. I was not supported in the arts from a young age. So Kudos to you and your thoughts of how important it is to be supportive of an evolving mind....As far as Sky Pilot, well I never gave it much thought until the 1990's when I met my bride to be parents. Her father, a World War 2 veteran who flew on B-17's out of England, starting in 1943. Well, I learned from his wife of the nightmares he had where he would scream in the middle of the night......Not any lab test can measure the PTSD he suffered from......... So when I hear Sky Pilot, well, I just appreciate Eric's Voice even more. How can he write such truth at such a young age in the 1960's? It brings home to me the tragedy of our "just" wars, As Eric said, only time will tell if it is viewed as "worth it". But even then, if it is viewed as worth it, what about the price our soldiers, men and women, have paid? Peace to you all.......
"I was so much older then" Post WW2 was an incredibly tough period for families the UK. This is the reason for the maturity in the lyrics present here and was common place among the British invasion bands.
He can now legitimately sing this song. It was a little hard to convincingly sing this song when you're a baby faced twenty something. 😆 Eric Burdon is the man.🤘🤘
Yea , when I was young , well that was some time ago now , butEric was bourn close by on date , thanks Eric for giving us incentive all those years ; THANKS
I wish he would stop showing off and just sing the beautiful tones like he did in his 20s. But I guess he’s bored with that. His voice used to be so touching. It was incredible. But ever since then he’s been someone that doesn’t give me that feeling. I just listen to the old stuff now but once in a while I check the latest.
I've had a giant crush on Eric for 60 years. The Beatles never did it for me. ❤
Me too! It was always Eric! First with the Animals and then with whatever band he was with! Alway great!
Ditto!

Jede mi tu hudba a kvúli reklamě která je téměr přez celou obrazovku ji nemohu sledovat. No na zabití.
She was brown and I was so green.
Love Ramones version of this tune
Same. I like both. I think The ramones and The animals are underrated compared to the other bands in their respective periods.
i agree
I was getting worried Eric almost missed the start of the lyrics
Eric Burdon butchered the song.
Sory, but this was a terrible vocal performance, and normaly I like Eric Burdon but this was drunk pub singer level.
Popořád.
Wow that was terrible.
No it was awsome.
kennyhotz17. What was terrible about it. His voice sounds the same.
Mr. Burdon is a living legend! Love him!
Wow, @ Kenny Hotz, You're either out of it or must have inadvertantly wrote this comment on the wrong video or artist. Because Eric💜.sounds great💜
