Here are the details of multiple sources I ordered the assembled hmt watches from. I am just sharing my experience, please do your own diligence before making any payment.
Source 1: Mr Vimal Sharma, Bikaner, Rajasthan, Whatsapp No +91 90790 54201
Mr Sharma is a respected watch assembler and my experience with him was great. He transparently shares the dials that are available at a point of time so that one can choose. Depending on quality of dial, the complete watch without strap will cost you anywhere between 1100 to 1500. If you want to buy straps then options starts at 100. And you can either ask him to send your order through Speed Post or private courier and depending on your choice the shipping, cost will be between 100 - 200. Please note that Mr Sharma does not provide any warranty promise and you can either get your after sale service done from local watch mechanic or you can send the watch through courier to Mr Sharma for service when needed.
Source 2: Mr Anthons from Chennai Tamilnadu, Whatsapp no +91 72000 00639
Mr Anthons has limited stock, but he offers watches at very low price, I have placed order for a orange sunburst Kohinoor which costed 960 including shipping through Speed Post. I have received the watch and its very good. Again no warranty support promised here as well.
Source 3: Divine Watch on Instagram, Mumbai, Whatsapp no +91 91482 60359
They are charging 3800 for most of their watches including shipping and they are providing 6 months warranty support too. Price is no doubt on higher side, however you have lot of dial colour option to chose from. You need to pay 50% while placing the order, they will usually take about 20 days to get the watch ready and before shipping they will ask for the remaining amount. I have experienced quality control issues on their watches as one Janata came with cracked dial - but they are very responsive on after sales support and they replaced my watch and took care of shipping cost as well. I suggest you only go for this option if you are not getting a particular colour or model from elsewhere as 3800 is very high for assembled watch.

Totally agreed with your stand ...🔥. HMT was known for providing mechanical watch at budget.... As it's popular watch JANTA stands for.... For normal people.... But now they are just playing with the emotions of buyers... We want to purchase something that's ours , as an Indian product... After these type of tactics we are losing interest in HMT day by day .... Why would we buy HMT at 6.5 k or 10 k ... ?🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️?? And that too after looking at their quality control / check .... There are many brands at that price point providing better quality watches...
Agreed, this scam started from 2022 and it will be exposed soon. HMT watches are low on quality and no one values them in international market no matter if its made by the hmt chairman himself. There were hardly any price appreciations until 2021 and suddenly this scam started. Try selling hmt at 10k to an experienced watch maker in real world (not online) and I can guarantee one will get a tight slap....lol.
Finally someone has spoken the truth!!! :)
Whats more interesting is that HMT watches are being sold out within minutes of listing and then they are available for black in HMT watches and HMT brotherhood groups..
This is an artificial, profit making bubble that some cheaters who has 0% interest in HMT or Indian made mechanical watches are creating.
Better to move to Alba and Seiko entry level instead of spending 10k on some cheaply assembled watch with 0 production and quality control.
Such malpractices really frustrates genuine collectors and that was the reason why I thought of creating this video. Thanks Sir for liking.

Bravo ! Brilliant video. You have echoed my sentiments perfectly in this video. I agree 100% with every word you have said in this one. I got really annoyed with the groups as well to the point that I have considered leaving.
Also your opinion on manufactured vs assembled is spot on. I have also come to a similar conclusion.
I got a Kohinoor made from Vimal Sharmaji as well. Got it today. And I also bought a couple of used old HMTs from 80s and 90s as I considered them to be the actual genuine ones. Just like you have given a budget of 4K I have also said 3K to be the max that should be spent on these old mechanical watches.
For the time being I am also sort of done and if I do buy more I will be either getting more made from Vimal Sharmaji or used ones from 80s,90s etc.
Also for anyone new to HMTs just avoid hyped models like Kohinoor, Janata and Pilot and it will be more enjoyable. I have a Maurya, Vijay that I got for less than 2k combined and I am very satisfied.

The way these FB groups are run and the rules, clearly indicates that the sole purpose is creating a hype for so called original products which are ultimately third-party vendor made with extremely bad quality checks and secondly discouraging people to opt for the value for money options by tagging them fake or aftermarket 😅.
And no one is allowed to constructively challenge their yardstick with logic.
Its a mechanism to extract money from common watch lovers who are relatively less knowledgeable about the market price of watch parts.
Can anyone show an evidence of any hmt handwinding watch being sold at 4k or above in 2021 or prior? So clearly its an intentionally and calculated bubble beeing created which will burst at some point and those who are spending high price for those cheap quality watches now, will ultimately suffer.

Meanwhile some guy selling his watch at 1k is being interrogated about his watch.
I bought a Kohinoor because i liked the look and it came in nos condition . One of the first comments I got was from someone from these groups saying case is not original, hands are not right etc etc. I banned them instantly :)
I was overall extremely disappointed with these FB groups. I can understand people obsessing about originality for a Rolex or Rado but for a 2-3k HMT ? Its silly. People use HMT watches to practice repairing learning etc because they are cheap.
Talking to people in real life also don't seem to value them much.
I just wanted to own a few because of the hand wind movement, the vintage looks and story of HMT. It was never about quality.
At the end of the day i will consider them if i see one i like at an affordable price and i don't really care about originality.
Afterall HMT was made to provide affordable mechanical timepieces to the common man.

Majority of so called HMT collectors are hypocrite. They are just trying to mint money. One of the Collector asked for 16000 for his old used Sona 😂
Like you said, HMT isn't worth the money if you cross 4-5k.... it's better to look for other brands which provide far more superior quality watches.
Aftermarket HMT watches aren't too bad, I was able to get few around 1000-1200 with transparent case back.
HMT watches are nothing but riding on hype, some say they sell watches on commission to resellers using backdoor. Hence you will see few folks will always keep on listing new watches for sale at exorbitant prices. HMT's online sale for mechanical watches is farce, I have hardly seen a genuine person getting that watch.
Nevertheless, time has come to say bye bye to HMT mechanical watches and move on.

Nicely said. USP of HMT watches were their value for money and watch on common man's wrist was their moto - clearly the new chairman is highly under the influence of advisors who are running their hidden agenda to earn heavy profit, and ultimately destroying the originality of HMT watches. Unless this mistake is rectified, the brand will be vanished totally when this scam is exposed.
I feel your sentiment brother.. I also got bullied in a group when I shared my watch collection photo and they told me to tag it as AM. So I deleted my posts. Thanks for speaking out this important topic.
I think I remember your post. Was it the one where you had a nice Casio Royale on a strap. If it was i remember how all they kept saying "your watches are AM" etc. Very unfriendly environment and not at all helpful or welcoming to new collectors.

I didn't deleted that post but yesterday I uploaded my SOTC2023 collection and the admin commented and told me to tag AM watches as AM or MoD so I got frustrated. It's not like I was selling them or anything so I deleted that post. And tell him to be happy with his so-called og Watches.

One more info, the serviced movements are available for 300-350 which is much lower than 500, and the aftermarket dials present in 1k aftermarket watches also have sunburst effect, the finish will depend on the dial you choose.
I won’t mention anyone, but some collectors are justifying their hate for aftermarket HMTs saying that people are cheated by sellers selling aftermarket as # “genuine HMT” and their strict rules will help new watch collectors. Now I have seen same people hyping up the prices. In what way their action of justifying high price will help new collectors?

They are definitely not collectors, who are passionate and welcoming. They are just investors who dont care about the community and value their personal interests only.
In fact the more prices rise up, the demand for aftermarkets will only increase. If original ones were available for 3k the aftermarket business would not have been much profitable.
If they truly cared about the community and collecting they should have banned prices more than MRP for new watches. Their tactics favour sellers and not true collectors. True watches lovers dont buy watches just to sell.

Sir what is your perspective on Stellar series, especially the open heart ones? Like is the case and dial Manufactured in-house? And I think it is correctly priced ,what is your opinion?
Most HMT watches are having multiple quality issues as a result of poor quality control. Designs are unscientific too - I bought one stellar where a divers bezel print was given on a non rotating bezel for the watch which cannot be used for diving.

Thanks for this thought-provoking video. The primary reason HMT mechanical watches are still in demand (in fact there's been a resurgence in the past decade) is only NOSTALGIA - for a simpler time when an HMT watch was a prized possession and a reward for significant achievements or a gift for a life milestone. I purchased a couple of watches from them in 2022 based on the understanding that they were somehow in production despite all odds and news to the contrary (GoI decision in 2016 etc) and wanted to support them in their endeavour to survive.
If they've indeed become just another watch assembler cynically exploiting people's feelings for marketing and encouraging a cottage industry around resale then it's really very disappointing and hits at the core of why people buy HMT at all in the 2020s...Keep up the good work!

Hi sir, One question about hmt movement, I have Kohinoor and I checked the movement and '0230' is etched on it. I saw kost of hmt movements are etched as '0231' on it. Can you tell me the difference of these two versions? (Asking just to add up to my knowledge)

@watchandmoreindia Fe months back, I had visited the HMT showroom in Bangalore and I was told that they are assembling the watches with "New Old Stock Parts"
The audited report clearly says its assembly only and new old stock dial cannot last till today. Ther are new dial colour getting introduced which were never offered when factory was functioning. So you know what I mean.
I have the same gray HMT watch from 80s. but it's not working, my father bought this in 80s.
How can I get it working, how can I service this?
You can take it to an old watch shop in your area and they will bring this back to life within 500
I desperately want a HMT Jhalak, I think its a stunning looking watch, it was priced somewhere between 3.5k to 5k back in 2019-20.....Now it feels totally unjustifiable to pay 10k for a 17J 0231 movement. If price drops, I'd definitely buy but I have low hopes

Although that 'original bill & warranty card' makes a big difference in validating a watch( even some Swiss brands now outsource cases & other parts from China and to keep the 'Swiss made' tag intact the definition of 'Swiss made' has been suitably modified to accommodate all these changes. So final assembly point is now accepted as 'made' ).
However, I agree fully to the other part of your video. At the current price, Alba or even Ali express brands like Tenderio or Bodero give much more in that price. The current pricing and hype is modulated by a gang of so called 'collectors'.

I was waiting for someone to speak about this. I've been following hmt official website from last 2 yrs and been checking the availability regularly. I must say they're using the hype for their business and profit purpose,I should also put another point that some of us(among watch collectors) are hyping some models unnecessarily like for an example some newbies only know hmt kohinoor,janata,pilot,jhalak..I feel like that's bcz of some watch collectors and so called influencers. Why is hmt not producing other models? Coz they're chasing the hype only,they don't care the sentiments of true watch collectors. Kudos to you and your efforts sir..badiya eye opening video!

They are very good. I have made a review of one of the Alba automatic, you can watch that video to know more. That model is discontinued by the way.

If one can avoid paying premium price for the hyped models and manage to get one at justified price, hmt watches can be good purchase too. I bought a HMT Galaxy all ss quartz watch for ₹780 and thats a good one. I have objection against Kohinoor, Pilot, Janata, Jhalak being aold at 15-20k

Is Hmt nass 12 worth 7300/- ?
Vostok Commander offers 100 meter water resistance at same price. Unless you like the look of NASS and design is the reason why you want to buy, there are better alternative available. But still NASS automatic at 7300 offers better value than Jhalak, handwinding Kohinoor, pilot at almost 10k. Hope thia clarifies.

HMT's recent Price hike is just unbearable. High ranking Babus are main culprit , they earn large sum of money in the form of bribe for giving tender to particular vendor for so called manufacturing(i.e assembling).
HMT are worthless in terms of quality because they don't bring any innovative design or development in recent years.
Hope Indian watch geeks support micro brands rather than lazy HMT . Micro brands are doing top level designing and also they listen to the voice of watch enthusiasts.

HMT is crap at any price point. I dont even bother trying to get one to add to my collection.
Sorry sir, my humble opinion would be if you manage to restore hmt mechanical watches built before 2016 factory closure, your opinion might change as you might get a functional mechanical watch at throwaway price. But ofcourse the current price hike has made their offering useless.

The 17J Parashock movements based on Citizen designs were decent for their time, but that time has long passed
