    it's nice to know that just adjusting the driving style can give me so many more kms. I've talked to dealers that have tried the corporate demo and they get much more than the rated 201km range. More like 250-270km in eco-pro+ with max regen.

    i am a huge EV-Fan and i will buy a e-golf after leaving University in roughly 2 years.
    I still have a Problem with this type of testing. the concern of People with "range anxiety" is that if they want to make a roadtrip of 300 km they dont want to drive for 10h. They also dont want to wait at a charger for 30 min every 150km.
    for daily use it will drive the 200km which VW Claims as real world range(with a Little comfort).

    • @1001cars
      @1001cars  7 лет назад

      Yes, you are right. The 200 km in this e-Golf is certain range, but the thing was to find out if this car can do 300 km (or more) as VW claims during the eco driving :)

    @Enoch Chi Lok Tse: Average speed in most cities in the World is even MUCH lower than 32 km/h. To be honest: it is quite high AVERAGE speed for a city. Usually it is between 18 and 25 km/h. Try to have higher if you don't want to drive at night and don't want to drive much faster than limits.

    wow awesome!!! I m guessing this is the newest version with the 35KW battery? I m hesitating between this one and the ionic or the new leaf even though I saw the new leaf and it is small inside.

    • @1001cars
      @1001cars  7 лет назад +2

      Yes, You are right. It is a ~36 kWh version (second generation of e-Golf). Ioniq electric has similar range. Both cars are really good. e-Golf looks more like typical Golf which can be an advantage for many people.

      No, it was in the city. It is impossible to make a long downhill i such conditions. Outdoor temperature? You have it on the movie :) 13-20 degrees Celsius

      1001cars hi!! I really liked your test, it shows what is the very stretched limit of this egolf! You said you did this in the city, I admit I was surprised of this, my egolf range in city condition is much penalized by the transient (stop/start) that in the computer shows instant peaks of 40-90kWh, sure short in time but still high! Who did you manage those? Also which driving style you adopted? D, B? I’d really appreciate more details about the driving style.... thanks!!!

  • @SMGJohn
    @SMGJohn 5 лет назад

    For long distance trips you get the max out of the range, in cities where you do a lot of start and stop situations you will drain the battery just how you would consume more fuel in a petrol or a diesel.
    Coasting is sometimes better for long trips than regen in my opinion, I gotten 1200km out of a 80 litre diesel Volkswagen Passat 2014 with proper driving technique, automatic gearbox as well mind you.

    • @lasselasse2440
      @lasselasse2440 Год назад +1

      This comment is three years old, im sorry but i have to wrote it: A electric vehicle has in the city a much lower consumption as on a highway. Coasting is allways better than regen breaking. 80 liter for 1200 kilometer is by far not impressive. Especially since it's diesel. With my Golf 7 1.4 TSI I once covered 1205 kilometers and used exactly 52.95 liters of gasoline (E10).

      suki san it all depends on the incentive that your province will give you back. In Ontario it’s $14000 so the final price works out to just about $31000 after tax depending on the options you choose.

    Hey, you mostly drive in city. Such drive distance isn’t that “exceptional” can make the type of driving through highway ? 110kmh? 120 or 130kmh ? Would be more “real”

    • @1001cars
      @1001cars  2 месяца назад

      In 2017 it was. Still I made and check the consumption and range at 90, 120 and 140 km/h. Also: where is the definition what is real and what is not? I did not see anything written with "city driving is not real".

    Hypermiling, Tesla did over 900 km with hypermiling. What the point?

    • @rospincasocl3741
      @rospincasocl3741 7 лет назад +3

      His point was that hypermiling has nothing to do with everyday-driving so in the end you can't drive 300km with an e-golf and you can't drive 900km with a Tesla.
      Driving an e-golf in eco+ mode is crazy. Car feels like 10hp or less lol... Nobody wants to drive like this therefore nobody does it.
      The video/info itself is still interesting of course :)
      Things that are possible aren't meaningful per se.
      I have to add that most people don't need that range on a regular basis anyway so my post should not be understood as an argument against electric cars in general. I think they are f great!

    • @vladmihai306
      @vladmihai306 7 лет назад

      Chevy Bolt/Opel Ampera got over 650km and it costs the same as Golf. What is your point?
      In all fairness, Golf is a nice and well made car. But in no circumstances it is the best car for long distance.
      Nevertheless it is good to see that VW is upping the ante on electric propulsion :)
      LE: Tesla P100D, which you quote here made over 1000km lately on a single charge and remember that is a worst case scenario because of size and AC motor instead of Brushless.

    • @vladmihai306
      @vladmihai306 7 лет назад +1

      I didn't supported the Tesla vs Golf argument. But the Bolt vs Golf argument is relevant for people who care about range and less about quality even though from reviews, Bolt is not a bad car.
      Also, the record for Bolt is not 511km for sure, the most documented that I could find is 623km by Bjorn Nyland ruclips.net/video/5EaEvIqaj4k/видео.html . Lets face it, Bolt has a 60KWh battery compared to the tiny 36KWh for Golf and if I would want the car for longer trips I would get the Bolt instead of Golf.
      I want to emphasize that I am not arguing with you, I just added extra info on the topic.

    Average speed is 32kmh. Driving a diesel with the same speed you could achieve 2.7L/100km (or less), or in total 8.45 liters of diesel. With a price of 31 cents of 1KWH and 1 euro per liter for the diesel fuel, you will get 11.1euros with the E-Golf or 8.45 euros with Golf TDI. Diesel still more efficient than anything else on this planet.

    • @1001cars
      @1001cars  6 лет назад +2

      Show me your average speed in the city. Average speed in most cities is even lower (many times much lower) than 30 km/h. If you think that at avg speed 30 km/h in the city diesel can consume 2,7 l/100 km you are wrong :) For example: ruclips.net/video/1rL8Z44EIC4/видео.html (yes, I know, that Golf with 1.6 TDI consumes less but not 2,7 l/100 km)

    • @Corsa15DT
      @Corsa15DT 6 лет назад

      -From the video you cannot see if it is city drive with a lot of traffic, you could only see the cruise control setting at 60 and 70kmh, assuming its a highway drive at optimal speed -By the way the electric vehicle is most economic at 20 or 30kmh unlike internal combustion engines which are most efficient at 70kmh. -The A5 is big heavy sports car with automatic. Still extremely efficient. The real comparison is the Gold TDI. -The eGolf has energy recuperation, something the TDI doesn't have. So if you include energy recuperation to the TDI you will have even better fuel consumption.

    • @1001cars
      @1001cars  6 лет назад

      For most of the movie you can see speeds which I had. It was in a city. The lowest fuel consumption in car with combustion engine you have at speed 30-40 km/h not 70. It is a myth and I don't know why you didn't check it. Usually cars like Audi A5 (smooth sedan/liftback) has better aerodynamics than typical hatchback. The most efficient diesel car which I have been driven was Opel Astra 1.6 DTH: ruclips.net/video/nu2Op3w_dC0/видео.html Still much more than you think

    • @Corsa15DT
      @Corsa15DT 6 лет назад

      Because at 35kmh you have to drive in 3rd gear, and you would be better of in 4th or 5th gear at 1200-1600 rpm which would result in 60-70-80kmh. The world consumption record for a diesel is somewhere in the 2.7 field, but with speeds od 70-90kmh. BTW, I am getting real life city fuel consumption of 4.4 L/100km with my 1.9 tdi. If I had energy recuperation and small 10kg battery I'd get down to 3.5 L/100km I suppose.

    • @Corsa15DT
      @Corsa15DT 6 лет назад +1

      btw, I like the new Astra with this engine, its a beauty.
