Personally, I think there's a poetic feeling to this ending that goes along with corpo lifepath. Being a slave to the system from the start, and being kicked out of it mercilessly. Struggling the whole playthrough trying to fight it, and then finally crawling back to the feet of this very system to either become a walking corpse or a slave to it again. Despite being a cyberpunk story, there's an almost classical tragedy of beauty here.

The most popular theory I have heard is that he became CEO to drive Arasaka to the ground and destroy them from within. If you get rid of him, Arasaka bounces back to full shape, but if he is in charge, you can hear in news that they are striggling with one problem after another.

So glad you're taking your time going through all the different ending. This is what makes Cyberpunk so amazing, all of the individual endings add something new to the narrative and carry so much emotional weight.
The Devil endings are interesting in that they reveal Yorinobu's true intentions. His goals align very much with Silverhand's in that he's seeking the destruction of his father's company. But where he differs from Johnny is that he realizes that only from within can he destroy Arasaka, and if it wasn't for V's meddling, he may have succeeded. These revelations only serve to make the Devil endings that much more tragic.

The Devil (Return to Earth) was my first ever ending I experienced and it's so wonderful to see fresh eyes experience exactly how I felt with that ending. It was the first time I felt physically depressed after a video game ending, it was so emotionally impactful. I truly regretted my decisions picking that ending afterwards.

You should know, the call on the rooftop is more than just cool flavor text, it's actually how the game confirms what romance option is "canon" for your V. You're allowed to pursue as many romances as you want, you can even cheat technically, but you can only make one call on the rooftop, and once you do, the game treats that as your One True Love. If you choose to make no calls, the game treats you as having romanced no one, which is kind of an odd choice, but that's how it is.

This is my favorite ending in terms of narratove and the whole setting. Lots of new information and situations that are only here (Michiko, Saburo, Yori, Jake (if send him to Vik), etc).
I feel most sorry for my boy Takemura. He believes that Arasaka really wants to help V. But Arasaka's 40-year manipulation will always pull the wool over his eyes. But you can see he started to doubt (body language and he even stops saying "Hanako-sama" but says "V-san"). I read that he was supposed to say that he was going to Japan to supervise "research into the V's case", but they cut it out.
And Im waiting for The next of Cyberpunk endings!

This is the first open world game where I felt like I actually belong there as a character (Witcher as well, but it's a bit different). I didn't start fast traveling until almost the end of the game. As much as the world is overwhelming, it is also addictive. And I can't help but love the game even more knowing and seeing all the work that was put into it, that usually is being taken for granted (art, music)
And I truly appreciate the way they handle heavy topics, very human, with much respect and sensitivity.

Cyberpunk is such an amazing game. It didn’t release in the best shape, but that wasn’t actually CD Project Red’s fault, the decision was out of their hands, they were forced to release. However, they more than redeemed themselves with subsequent patches and especially with 2.0 and Phantom Liberty. It’s such a well done expansion to what was already an extremely well done base game.

You are witnessing the creation of Cortical Stacks ("Secure your Soul") and the rise of the first immortal Methusalem (Saburo Arasaka). What a gut-wrenching ending, it's the only one I haven't seen yet.
The Tower at least offered V some hope that they will find a new passion in life. Sure your friends moved on, but you can always make new ones.
Not good that Militech controls the city now, but V can always leave it.
The Devil however made me feel disgusted. Not only that V still dies in 6 months or get trapped in the soul prison, but their mental health is deteriorating too.
It's nightmarish, not being able to be sure that it's really you that is alive, and not amalgamation of your old personality and Johnny's.
And let's say that we don't care about what happens to V, what is also shitty that we helped Arasaka to be in top of the game again.
We saw what their rule over 50 years has done to the NC. Santo-Domingo having poisoned water supplies for example. It proves that even if Johnny was an asshole and used radical methods, he was right about Arasaka.
They should not be allowed to prosper, shame that we can't team up with Yorinobu. Together we could have crushed that corporation even better than alone.
What hurts me more is how disappointed Johnny was with you. He knew that they wouldn't deliver, that they will use V, experiment on them and leave them being trapped in Mikoshi just like Johnny.
And even if Arasaka somehow will make a new body for V, for it to be compatible I imagine they will have to clone Johnny. V will be lost in the void, only Johnny's replica will remain. Tragic.

    But...
The video calls at the end crushed me, I even let out few tears and got chills, still stuck with it, I think a tragedy and a way out on your own terms was very fitting for this particular setting, the others are too epic. Nomads ending is the best for V though, imo.

Whoever reads it - you matter. Your experiences matter. You are not alone. ❤
They absolutely did the right choice when they decided to make the game 1st person. So that not only could we percieve Night City in all of it's unwavering, towering and opressive glory, but also so that we could connect ourselves with the protagonist, assossiate ourselves with them even. And so that these goddamn 3rd person scenes would hit us hard at the end of the journey. What a great way to tell a story.

I definitely agree that the voicemails for the Devil endings are weird in tone. They feel, with a few exceptions, pretty generic. It's an odd oversight when they put so much good effort into them for all the other endings, even the "put it all to bed" ending.
Otherwise I think the Devil endings are very well done. They reveals several big things that recontextualize the rest of the game like Saburo's engram and Yorinobu's anti-corpo reveal. Also the long period of unsettling tests does make you feel crazy. So good.

Believe it or not, I've finished the game at least 4 times and haven't tried the "unalive" ending even once... Somehow it always seemed fitting to go with a bang, rather than just let go the easy way out. After all you've done, all the people you meet in the way, and how you change their lives, it feels out of character to just end it here no matter your starting path. The funny thing is that ending is the very first thing Johnny suggests when you meet him for the first time, and the whole point of the game is to figure a way out of this scenario... Just to realize none of them is any better. It's a dystopian world after all.

It's ashame the game was given such hate when it came out. And most people didn't read reviews and realize it was mainly console players who were upset as the game literally looked like a super undetailed, bland, middy textures game that barley ran. Not that PC didn't have issue per say, but many of the issues were not world ending. At least for me I never had and big issue. Maybe sometimes I'd see a crow of people walking in the air. Or a car half sunk into the ground. But no glitches on my end.
After Phantom came out I played the game again and obviously they had ironed out many issues on PC. No more crowds surfing for example. And it ran a bit smoother. The base game is indeed amazing. But Phantom is even better then the base game. I can't wait for the next game. Even though they haven't said when it will be done. I'm going to guess 5 years or more.

I really like this ending, probably my 2nd favourite in terms of the vibe it gives. I was actually so scared and panicked when I realized it's an orbit station. As someone who was locked in a psychiatric hospital before this hits way too close.

The main complaint I have about CP2077 is the fact that you can finish the main quest in such a short time and while you're playing through the rest of it, you keep getting the 'Meet Hanako at Embers' popping up annoyingly every time you finish a quest.

Well that's great because as far as main complaints go this is incredibly minor.

They intentionally made this game’s MQ shorter, after feedbacks from Witcher 3’s MQ being too stretched out and many people not even finishing that game.
BTW @Mapocolops, as an RPG fan, looking forward to your blind playthrough of TW3. The game arguably tops even Cyberpunk’s storytelling

Unfortunately having to clip out the Bail-Out "S" has to be bleeped out. CDPR/CP2077 does an amazing job to show us that it's a bad path to "bail out early" is bad,
