Nice 1st gen. Should go 11s easy. I had an 03 srt4 with a precision turbo and all the supporting mods tuned by duster360 that went 11.70s@120, miss that car..
450whp in a big turbo 1st gen is good for deep 11's 500-550whp is good for 10.9'-10.50's on a good slick they dont weigh but 2380lbs so your only set back is getting them to hook then comes the trans issues constantly lol but parts for the t850's are getting better just expensive and long wait times

I’m finally starting to work on my 98 rt again after it’s been sitting for about 15 years. 2.4 turbo swapped it back in 03/04 and just headache after headache and it’s sat on Jack stands in the garage. That car should have had blue squiggle seats being a blue car. If you go to get rid of it for real let me know.
I dont know what kind of power this one is making but my first gen at 400whp isnt this much of a handful on cheap all seasons. so it can definitely be fixed.
@@BoostandBadHabits youl be fine get good axles and dont flat shift it. They dont like shock load the input shaft is still pretty small in the HD but hardening the gears made mine go from a tranny every track vist to it's been a yr no issues
I’ve seen that car around on the groups for years. If it has a factory cable you can’t adjust it much. Also the uneven length axles make it a little bit of a bear to steer. It’ll probably go 11’s on its current power level
The Caravan build has basically the same exact setup in it with a bigger turbo. It'll be back up and going in the next few weeks. Machine shop should be done with the engine this week or next.

stock DOHC T350 final drive is 3.94 and SOHC T350 is 3.55. If it's a real R/T it would have a shorter 5th gear as well. Personally i prefer the cable clutch over the 2nd gen hydraulic, but mine were all pretty low power cars, might be a different story at that level. I was sad the white car is gone, that thing is crazy, but after seeing the replacement, I'm all for it (I also have a PB3 blue 1998 Neon R/T Coupe). Was not expecting that at all
@Wolfemancola 5th gear is like 3k rpm at 70mph on the hwy. Every gear seems super short in comparison to what I'm use to. I like it though. Fun car to rip the back road to and from work daily.
Gotta do what ya gotta do bud. I dig it tho. I think if you can get the torque steer sorted out you’ll be more satisfied. That thing is definitely fast enough to hurt some feelings lol

Wish I'd a never got rid of it, but it put me in a better spot financially being able to have a diesel truck that's paid for and being able to focus on finishing the caravan and hemi neon. Plus the blue 1g is a pretty cool daily I suppose... for now lol

I had a 95 first gen, that was 2.4 swap non turbo. It was fast. My recommendation is put car on major diet, get it as light as possible.

Look up “booger bushings” for the cable end inserts.
Get a stratus adjustable cable and build a spacer for the firewall hole no more clutch cable problems
The torque steer probably wont get any better lol. My srt swapped 1g skates all over the place even on street slicks.

With how that clutch is slipping, it doesn't need adjusted, it needs replaced lol. Probably why you can't get fifth is the clutch is smoked.

Face harden the gears and get a lsd t350hd input shaft as well and it makes my acr run high 9s on a 2.0 dohc motor.

I believe the shaft was also cryoed in mine but I never broke one before but the bearing I have.

Crazy short. I dig it. Its like a little go-cart. The ratios is the only reason I'm contemplating leaving that trans in it vs a t850.
