- Old Molly Hare Lesson (2 of 2) with Rhys Jones
bio.site/RhysJ...
This is the second of a new video series, teaching you how I play the standard tunes of old-time fiddling. I'll play each tune up to speed, and then post a second video demonstrating specifics. If you have questions, leave them in the comments and I'll try to answer!
I first learned Old Molly Hare when I was 10 years old from a recording of the 1920s band The Skillet Lickers. This is roughly the version that my friend Rayna Gellert and I played together in the years before we each released our first recordings.

Thanks Rhys!
Thank you for this! Super-helpful. I'd love a similar tutorial for Shortnin Bread.
Excellent! Thanks.
Thank you!
Thanks. This helps my year+ fiddling adventure sound more old times. One suggestion: quickly say finger position.
Glad you’re enjoying the videos! I hope it helps you get the sound you’re looking for in old-time fiddle.
We play this tune in the Isle of Man with a different name.
Old timey, I meant!
Are you in standard tuning?
Yes, standard tuning. No tricks up my sleeve this time :)
@@RhysJonesMusic ok, great! I’m gonna add this to my list of songs to learn.
Thank you!
