Johnny's the one on keyboard with the yellow shirt. Ed is playing guitar. This is a "from the basement" performance, which a lot of folks like even more than some of the album versions. Some others from Radiohead worth checking out... -Paranoid Android -Weird Fishes (arpeggi) -Climbing Up The Walls -Codex -Wolf at the Door
That was Ed on Guitar, Jonny was on keys, so they had all three instruments playing that riff, the guitar, the bass, and the synth - a great example of Jonny taking charge in his rightful spot with his Tele as lead guitar, and is and a really epic song as well, perhaps their signature song (aside from the obvious Creep, which was their first release and is left in the dust 9 albums later) is "Paranoid Android: Live from Jools Holland." it won't disappoint, you have my word. Jonny is really the only formally highly musically trained band member - he has been nominated for 2 Academy Awards for Best Movie Orchestral Scores just to lend credence to that (not a bad side skill for your lead guitarist), so he is always off playing a wide array of random instruments when the song calls for it. But he is a nasty nasty guitar player with a really unique style. They have so many setups as they all play around with different instruments except Colin (Jonny's brother though even he will play a synth once in a blue moon, and Phil the drummer who is the often less credited foundation to all of the insane time signatures and song structures they do.) To see all 3 okay guitar (Thom is actually a really solid Rhythm player) check out "Bodysnatchers" from the same From the Basement concert - it is a heavy guitar rock bonanza. Thanks for the cool reaction! Peace/
Phil Selway on drums, and Colin Greenwood (Jonny's brother) on base. Phil is a machine! As others have mentioned, his discipline shows well on Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, also from this basement series. 15 Step also great for drums. For guitar, you might like Bodysnatchers. All three of these songs are from the album In Rainbows. But there are so, so many great compositions to choose from.
@@pc239 You said it right, Phil and Colin are both incredible and inventive, but also are the backbone and hold down the structure of the songs - no easy feat with the type of songs they come up with. I agree with all you said - this concert is part of my lifeblood and musical journey, it literally specifically affected my direction of music since the night I saw it in 2008ish. It'll never get old, I love seeing new generations seeing it online, and just wish Nigel had kept the series going long enough so we'd have gotten "A Moon Shaped Pool." Can only imagine the Basement versions transforming those songs like they did for King of Limbs.
Subbed for Radiohead reaction/discovery ! If you are sticking to live performances I'd suggest 'Paranoid Android' Jools Holland TV performance, 'Nude' from the basement sessions and 'Daily Mail' also from the basement sessions. Studio tracks I'd suggest 'Let Down', 'Weird Fishes (Arpeggi), 'The National Anthem' and 'There There'.
It doesn't look like anybody is suggesting the 'more weird' ones yet. So, let's go with 'Like Spinning Plates' (so beautiful) or even 'Feral' (kick-ass beat)
Honestly asking Radiohead fans to pick a few songs is almost the definition of cruelty 😀 But for me go Just, Climbing up the Walls, How to Dissappear Completely, Pyramid Song, Wolf at the Door, Dollars and Cents But ask me tomorrow and I’ll give you a different list👍
Okay if you want a specific song, i would go for Little by little (live from the basement), it's a more guitar centered song but with a very interesting overplay between the two rhythm guitar parts
If you want live, any of the In the Basements by them are spectacular. Radiohead did not put out one bad album. Radiohead fans will all collectively say the Pablo Honey sucks. It doesn't. It is a typical 90's grunge/alternative album. It is not nearly the genius of OK Computer, but it is a solid album. All that to say, anything you pick will be interesting. I suggest anything off Kid A if you like experimental. In Rainbows is my personal favorite, and the most accessible. Every single album has bangers.
Any time a musician tries out Radiohead for a serious listen I sub instantly you will have a lot of fun just trying to figure out what they're doing kind of like the first time you listened to King Crimson it's hard to make comparisons but think maybe the Beatles mixed with King Crimson.
From the basement 2007 is probably one of the best thing ever happened in modern music.... and Myxomatosis is not even the best song of this live session !!!!
Yeah no Jonny on this one - Try body snatchers from this same performance . A deeper cut with all three guitars whaling … also if the guitar is the goal paranoid android is obvious. Weird fishes has three guitars playing arpeggios syncopated from each other but they hit at similar places - a guitar nerds dream to figure out
Radiohead is not very good at following a script and they are like a genre unto themselves. They don't have too many regular rock songs but I would say try Weird Fishes/Arpeggi or Bodysnatchers from the same live in the studio session they aren't really a prog band but they are very progressive and a lot of people think they are a prog band it's an ongoing debate. When you think about Radiohead think the Beatles or Pink Floyd except they dip into many genres they don't sound anything like the Beatles but to me they are their spiritual successors and the only band I put up there with bands like that from the last 30 years.
Yess, do more Radiohead, react to any song from any of their two 'live from the basement' versions, you can't go wrong with that!!
Thank you.

-Paranoid Android

-Climbing Up The Walls

-Wolf at the Door
Thank you.
Legit everything off this studio session is amazing, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi is my favourite
For one of their more weird, progressive songs I recommend the "From the Basement" version of "Bloom"
Thank you, I have them on my list. thanks for the suggestions.
Try Reckoner from that same Basement video
Will do, thank you.
Subscribing for more radiohead.
More to come, thanks for watching.

There's a Radiohead song for everyone. What's your favorite song or songs ever? Based on that we can recommend your Radiohead song.
I think you would love THE BENDS just for being a whole ass three guitar attack almost every track. Suggestions:
"Just"
"Planet Telex"
"My Iron Lung"
Love this reaction! Live from The Basement bits are the best.
Daily Mail is dope, Where I End and You Begin, Weird Fishes, The list goes on.
Thanks for watching.
Try "WHERE I END AND YOU BEGIN (THE SKY IS FALLING IN)" since you are going off odd song names. It is a deep dive CLASSIC. Beautiful song!!!

Great video! I recommend watching more of this From the Basement session - the whole thing is so good 👍
Thank you! Will do!

Yeah Jonny Greenwood is the one playing keyboard on this one. He play many instrument but most of time the guitar but not this time :)
Thank you.

Definitely more to come, thanks for the comment.
Do Thin Thing from Thom Yorke and Jonny Greehwood's side project The Smile. I reckon you will dig it.
I have The Smile coming soon..
From the basement 2007 is probably one of the best thing ever happened in modern music.... and Myxomatosis is not even the best song of this live session !!!!
If you're a musician I'm pretty sure you are getting on the ride of your life.
WEIRD FISHES!!!!!!!!
From the basement
Please
That one is coming soon.

Looking forward to checking out all the suggestions. I will definitely be doing more from this live basement show.
