I LOVE their boots. I’m a huge boot collector- my last 4 pairs Ive purchased have been Julians. They really show craftsmanship, have beautiful silhouette (especially for Engeneer boots) they are amazing, unique, well built and also elegant- can be rugged yet so elegant.
Great review! Just bought some Engineers. Fantastic boots. Fit true to size. What quality 👍Got the Vibram sole cat paw heel. Francesca was fantastic to deal with!
im pretty sure that mistake looking cut on top of the heel is the nail hole where they start to hand last the upper. Usually it would be in the middle or upper half of the heel. same thing that is John Lofgren proud off.
For under 900 dollars they are actually good deal if they are made in USA. That last looks extremely similar to the original Munson last. I wonder how much modification they do on it. It is beautiful in any case. The whole boot is like 6 inch Corcoran jump boot in shell, really close to my dream boot that would be jump boot in brown Shinki with rolled top. those soles are excellent looking soles, really puts it together from top to bottom
Thanks so much for your insights!!! I agree I really love the last shape and can’t deny these are some grail makeups especially the engineers in rare shell
Hi Dale, Richard again. If you’re talking about Edinburgh Scotland it’s pronounced Ed-din-burr-ruh phonetically. Hope that helps. No criticism as it’s pronounced incorrectly all the time especially in the US. Most Canadians know this because many of us have Scottish roots. Cheers and keep up the great reviews 👍 you’re an upbeat presenter which is sooo nice nowadays and quality filming. I actually like them better than the Lofgrens structurally. My favs would be Mister Freedom Road Champs. I love the squared toe box but these are my second fav.
Beautiful boots! Amazing craftsmanship, and thanks for sharing Dale! I truly appreciated the story and history. The custom part is indeed interesting. I take it they make a last out of wood for you? Then do they custom cut the upper? Last thing would be whether or not they come with bespoke shoe trees. Europe and Japan have a few makers that do the full service. I wasn't aware of anyone stateside who offered.
Thank you very much! If you email Francesca at francesca@julianboots.net she can give you more details but to my knowledge yes they can build a custom last for you
Fantastic channel Dale! I own multiple pairs of AE, Alden Indys, Vibergs, and Grant Stone... keep coming back to my beloved Indys due in large part to the last which just works for me. Since you have far more boots and expertise than me, which boot last do you think is most similar to Alden Trubalance?
I looked into getting these exact boots not too long ago, but the lack of info made it hard to pull the trigger. The boots sold by Julian on eBay Are factory seconds. The sizing was the biggest thing I wanted to get confirmation on, but even a discussion with the customer service lady responding via eBay didn’t actually confirm anything. She was nice, but was no able to into instill confidence. Question: Are these boots a half size down like normal or true to size? Answer: Yes, they will fit you good. Me: 😅 Many questions later I’m pretty sure it’s true to size, but I can’t say for sure. 😬
So maybe Polo Ralph Loren used Julian Madison in theyre newest Bentley blower line/commercial. I did try to find out what was in the commercial as thy seem to not be RL boots, they offer just chukka style and something eles that is not that interesting to my eye. i was shure it was John Lofegren boots in there
Ok so I got one telling me that they do and one telling me that they don’t. Do I have any tie breakers. I gotta say my Bowery boots from RRL are the balls. I love’em. I also have the RRL Clifton moc toe boots. Also fantastic boots. Got ridiculous deals on them at an RL outlet that’s no longer in business. Most of my apparel is RRL because this outlet sold them at a killer discount.
Julian used to make RRL Bowery boots, until some years ago, RRL changed their manufacturer to a British company. I heard RRL wanted to increase the quantity. This is from a blog article I read online so not sure how reliable.
Ralph Lauren did sell Julian boots years ago under the RRL brand, they were the bowery boots. Ralph Lauren still sells the bowery boots but they are made by Cheaney in the UK. @@DalesLeatherworks
you can call them too.. the phone number is on their site.. they answer every time.. They're located in Studio City, Los Angeles, CA.. so have the Pacific time zone USA in mind
Thanks Dale buddy!!!! Awesome job and killer boots. They are phenomenal and deserve more attention definitely!!! Cheers!!!!
The divet on the heel counter is for alignment purposes.

Couldn't agree more!
I have to own these boots! Now I just hope Santa is watching this.
Always been curious about Julian Boots. Just like you titled the video, there is so little info on them. Thanks for making this video Dale!
Dale, I received my order of kilties today. Thank you for the surprise unboxing to find a leather cuff and key fob. What a pro! Thank you!
So happy you’re happy brother!!!
Thanks I never heard of this Brand……. Beautiful Looking Boots

Would love to see you review some canada west boots
I’ll add them to the list!

I think the grant stone Leo is most similar to Alden Trubalance

I too would love to solve the sizing question but for now my best guess is TTS!
Exact same scenario happened to me. ‘Our boots are true to size, get your normal boot size’ ‘But my normal boot size isn't true to size’
Worst company ever😅

Does Julien make the RRL boots for Ralph Lauren? I have the black Bowery boots that resembles Julien boots.
Julian boots are all handmade whereas RRL are factory made so it’s unlikely the lines would cross

Are sprung toe boots more comfortable than a flatter profile? To me they just look a bit odd.
It depends on your foot type, but I quite like the sprung toe lasts
Sprung life is the best life.
Solid artisan boots !
Looks like iron ranger but better
What is the best way to get in touch with them? I messaged on instagram and emailed them but got no thing back 😢
They are a very small company, email is best
