This song was written by my neighbor Kostas here in Belgrade Montana. He always plays around the area just for fun. Him and DY wrote a few hits together.
You got to MEET him?!! Lucky, lucky you! How did you meet him? Any tips on how I could meet him? I'm going to his show in February -- my first ever! Sooo excited!

Y’all I was living in Texas in the early 80s Dwight had started touring around the country when he played in a venue in a smaller town they laughed at him because he wasn’t a “ Texan” …. He beat them all hard
I love DY. He is as real as they come in Country music. Todays' lot could learn a lot about being a real star and artist from this guy--if they could get out from under the Nashville cash machine.
This man deserves more, but being the gentleman he is, I guess it it doesn't matter cause he has a long following of fans, and I'm one of them. Put it this way he'll never go hungry!
what tone what a band so tight talk about gettin in the groove its rare to see everyone in a band posesed by the groove cool to see thanks dwight for keeping such great players with you alas things change thanks for the goosebumps
I absolutely love this song. I totally get it and I'm a woman! I think of all the boyfriends I have had that have lied to me and done horrible things and how I had to walk away and never look back. I can relate too real to this song.
How about one big super concert with all the country hit makers of the 90s before its too late, 12/21/12 coming and things are not looking good, look up and around!!!
Damn, Dwight is the greatest around today but he doesn't seem to be around like he used to...playing casinos now and such. Come back Dwight, we miss you!
think he came thru Reno that year...outdoor ampitheater show at either Bally's or Hilton, whichever 'hotel' name it was that year! lol!...( place is now Grand Sierra) wow...never thought i'd say..'i miss the music from the early 90's...
Lost in this live version is the slower tempo of the original recording which was perfect. Sung too fast it's just a lilting old melody instead of the lonely song of a past love affair.
I don't know if anyone will agree with me here, but I get the impression that Dwight really wasn't giving anywhere near his 'all' in this performance. I honestly don't believe he liked this song (he had no hand in writing it), the album on which it appears is such a departure from the previous three, and if I had to hazard a guess, I'm of the belief that he sort of resents the success that this song had. Which sucks, because it ranks amongs my all-time favorite songs. I just have this feeling that the song was someone else's idea, and that he really was reluctant to do anything with it. That said, the album version is pure mastery.
Kentucky boys: Dwight Yoakum, Keith Whitley, Ricky Skaggs, Tom T. Hall, John Michael Montgomery, Bill Monroe, and Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Muhammad Ali. Then there's the girls: Naomi, Winona and Ashley Judd, Loretta and Crystal Gale, Patty Loveless, Rosemary Clooney, Jennifer Lawrence. That's just a few.
Once there was a spider in my bed, I got caught up in her web, love and lies. Pure poetry......
She spun her chains around my heart and soul never to let go but I survived.... no question the second verse makes the song
Poetry he didn’t write
@@Imprisoned1995 been there ! so true
@@roswell266 me too.
I dated someone who had BPD, and that whole verse in this song describes my relationship to a T!
Probably the most underrated country artist ever. The last dying breaths of real country music
And he was great in Sling Blade
one of the richest tho!!!
Him and Haggard.............
That Pat is a near full on fact
A one of a kind voice from real country music
The greatest country artist of all time. Johnny Cash said Dwight was the best, and you’re in no position to argue with Mr. Cash.
So wish they would put Dwight in the Hall Of Fame already. It's long overdue. LEGEND.
Million dollar voice
For real! It's so unique, but fits perfectly with his style
Still the sexiest man in the universe! ;-Þ
Finally saw him live! Amazing..the man can do no wrong.
Seen him at least 7 times through the decades, and he never disappoints.
The man is ALWAYS on key when singing live. Incredible.
Absolutely love love...
It Doesn't Get Any Better than Dwight Yoakam singing his songs. He's the best.
Love him so much. I don't even listen to a lot of country, but I listen to Dwight
Yup. I only listen to real country. Give Sturgill Simpson a listen. You will not be disappointed.

The sentiment is clear, yet expressed so gently by Dwight. Heartbroken and po'ed at the same time.
picksalittle I think I read at Wikipedia that 'Kostas' was from Greece. Is that correct?
Kostas is a great song writer.
he is talent he can sing and act....sling blade is my fav...
HE'S SO BEAUTIFUL ♥️
Still in heaven since I had the opportunity to meet Dwight on May 30th! Such a talented singer, songwriter, musician and actor.

I believe he wrote this after Sharon Stone and him broke up. Greatest breakup payback song ever !
He wasn't actually the writer of this song...
@@kaohsiung99yea, he was, along with Kostas.
@@AdamRiley20 Song was written by Kostas and James House. I verified this by looking at the 45 rpm record for sale on ebay (as well as Wikipedia).

Ahhh yes, I remember a great movie called sling blade, he got his self hacked up with that sickle.
So lit

hungry for round 1000!
He's a complete diva DB in real life
Classy dresser! You don’t see him in ratty jeans or faded old t- shirts !
He’s a classy dresser !
do you know where this was? i saw him at the Governors in chattanooga around that time
He was all about skinny jeans before skinny jeans were popular.
I wonder if musicians get sick of their own songs having to sing them over and over and over...
Great performance sans pants
