Thanks for the comment. The reason the formulas are not on the screen is that, for some ratios, there are different formulas that are used to calculate the same ratio. As students of a variety of exam boards may be watching the videos, it seemed that less confusion would be caused by just leaving the formulas out.

When you spoke about the contribution per unit, you said that from the selling price of your product, you are taking away the variable costs acquired to produce that product. So therefore would you end up with a negative number that you are dividing by?

No - not unless you are intentionally selling the product as a loss leader.
When you take away the variable cost of manufacturing a product from its selling price, it should leave you with a positive number.
For example, if a business sells a chocolate bar for £1 that has cost 30p to manufacture, that would leave a contribution per unit of 70p.
