  • This red braised pork belly is one of my childhood favorite dishes. Now this is my kids favorite! My mom made this for me all the times, now I am making for my circus 😄
    Ingredients:
    4 lbs pork belly
    3 tbsp sugar
    4-5 slice of ginger
    4 star anise
    2 bay leaves
    1 tsp Sichuan peppercorn
    2 green onions
    1/3 cup cooking wine
    1/4 cup light soy sauce
    1 tbsp dark soy sauce

    My mom makes the BEST version of this but with an extra ingredient: Indonesian Sweet Soy Sauce (Kecap Manis). It's my favourite!!! 😋😋😋

      thanks for sharing what you serve with. I bought this from the asian market thinking it was pork for seasoning beans, I just found out you can eat it alone but didnt know what to serve with.

      I wouldn't be surprised. We were trading with China and India before Spain discovered the Philippines. The Mexican adobo is totally different than Filipino adobo so I don't think it was influenced by Spanish people at all.

      Yes you can! Substitute proteins. Asian markets have amazing vegetarian/vegan proteins made with tempi, mushroom, and other plant based materials.
