Get a sturdy backpack, and pack as much sand or rocks as you can in it, and run 10 miles on rough terrain. Get good at swimming, then go into the ocean, swim out about a mile, then back too shore. Do those continuously, and prepare yourself mentally, and you might have a chance of being Recon.
BloodstainedSinner, not even. LMAO. Moose Essentials just get good at swimming. Everyone drops at the pool, just swim with clothes on, get used to the breast stroke and side stroke, get used to treading water as well. Get comfortable in the water because it's easier to fight the urge to quit on land than it is in the pool.
I was going to go that root just so I had a shot at all of the Special unit. SARC(Recon or FORECON Corpmans), SEALs, or MARSOC but decided against it. Good luck brother.

because at a moments notice they could be called to go into an operation behind enemy lines and have to use stealth so it beats taking the time to screw and un screw off because that can delay them in time and give the enemy ample time to move
Theres always the navy the marines fall in the same department and you can switch over when your contract is over to SEALs if you choose too they are the tip of the spear in my book and most challenging but you do what you got to do if one door closes and another will open keep options open.
Oh ok right on. I have heard that existing recon units were getting regular grunt medics and SARCs would be sent to MARSOC school, but I didn't know they were reducing recon altogether. Thanks for the input

In 2006 they began gutting force recon to create MARSOC. they currently only have MARSOC and Batallion Recon. MARSOC isn just a SOCOM force, its principle is as a Special operations MAGTF. And yes MARSOC is being expanded while recon is being reduced. they've already begun cutting recon back down to 3 battalions from 4. MARSOC is looking to increase its number of 0371 CSO's from 900 to 1200. Its only a matter of time before recon is dissolved, MARSOC fills recons niche, making it redundant.
Recon specifications are as follows: full color vision; eye sight correctable to 20/20; expert marksmanship pin; and a certain PT score. There's more but that's all I could think of off the top of my head.
Think about it for a second though. This is how the Green Berrets were in nam and the SEALs were in MARSOCs position with publicity. MARSOC is still new and working out some kinks but the Marines will have their time as soon as one of their crazy missions come to spot light. Not taking anything from SEALs they are a bad bunch but Marines have a spirit no other branch has.
