Modern Suzuki is to me, what Toyota was in the 80s 90s and 00. Great value, cheap to run and bulletproof cars. Added bonus is that many of the models are fun to drive.

In India S cross - Too much body roll when it take it tot twisty roads Ciaz - literally a tin can. Brezza - body roll that creates a dizzy feeling even in a city. They are not upto the mark on their Engineering and Dynamics as compared to Ford, Chevrolet and Toyota.
Having purchased a Suzuki Ignis for my wife and then a 2021 Vitara for myself, both new from a dealer, I have now ordered the new S-Cross. Why, well I regard the cars as being perhaps one of the most overlooked brands in the UK. I owned a good number of Suzuki motorcycles in the past and their engineering was faultless and they have carried that engineering prowess into their car division. I had the Vitara on a PCP and got a call from the dealer telling me I could have the new S-Cross for less than I'm paying for the Vitara, which incidentally has, I think one of the smoothest auto boxes I have ever used - and at 72 years old I have driven an awful lot of cars and had a lot of new business cars over my lifetime, and the Vitara knocks spots off some of the so called better brands I have had. I frankly wouldn't change the brand now - the dealer has been absolutely superb and taking the S-Cross for a very extended test drive confirmed that it is in my opinion a softer ride than the Vitara, it feels slightly higher and has a better level of equipment. Why would I not say yes to that offer? If you get one I doubt you will be disappointed either with the car or with the dealer service, as Suzuki dealers consistently rate amongst the highest out there. Good to remember that this car is around £25k - I have just finished the latest TopGear magazine wherein they review a car costing nearly £70k and are complaining about the seats, the heating and the heated seats not heating up quickly. The S-Cross had heated by the time we left the dealers premises i.e. in less than five minutes. Well done Suzuki.
So good to see a review on a basic model, too many car reviews always feature the top spec cars , makes a nice change as this is the one I would consider going for, I have a Vitara 1.0 booster jet engine and had it for 3 years and it’s been brilliant for me I don’t drive fast and it gets me around in 52mpg , looking at maybe this now , great review as always 👍🏼
Reviews always feature top spec cars because that’s what the manufacturer normally gives the automotive press, not because they asked for it. You need to understand that.
Huge price increase from the previous Scross. We have owned a SZt model for the last three years. Cost 18k. . Now same car (mostly) retails at over 25k. Only difference is slightly bigger engine and the hybrid stuff that will probably cause problems if the car is not well used most days to keep its little battery charged. Too expensive now so can't see us buying one.
Thank you for reviewing this, especially the base model. It's a car I think so many people will overlook - but Suzuki deserve to do well especially when being so generous with spec and you consider their reliability! I really like it and the interior looks fine to me. Shame everyone will buy the T-Roc instead with its 'german build quality' plastic interior 🤣
New SCROSS is far too expensive. It's just a current version with s new front and rear. Paid 18k for our current one now they want over 25k. And that's not the Ultra! Sorry but after owning six Suzuki cars we will not be laying out that amount.

O have a six year old Vitara 1.6 from new and it has been just the best car. The wife also has the new Swift and that has been brilliant and I think we'll change the Vitara for the S-Cross this year. Brilliant cars, cheap to maintain, good to drive on long journeys and low running costs so, in my opinion, Suzuki isnone of the best manufacturers on the market right now.

I have a 21 plate Vitara SZ5, had the 18 plate S Cross SZT (middle spec) and was very pleased with it. It's the same engine that's in the Vitara, the 1.4 booster jet mild hybrid, so it's really just cosmetic. I'm pleased that you still have an actual handbrake and dials rather than a digital cockpit, I'm not worried about mood lighting and all the rubbish that detracts from driving, like overly complicated infotainment systems, it looks more like the Vitara than the previous S Cross, which may not be a plus until the new Vitara comes out in 24, when I'll be due to upgrade my current car, so may go back to the S Cross or go with the new Vitara..one thing about the S Cross top spec is that the sunroof seriously eats into the head room, unlike the Vitara, but a very good review.
Before reading the other reviews I felt how refreshing it was to see a basic model being reviewed - and I note other viewers appear to feel exactly the same. It makes a nice change from the reviews of all singing - all dancing models that quite often just aren't worth all the extra money - style over substance. I enjoyed the informative review and felt you understood the car and what its purpose is. As a Suzuki owner I would consider one of these models following the facelift and other improvements and I hope they haven't engineered out some of the ordinary qualities that give driver appeal. I feel let down by the newer infotainment and dashboard electronics that seem overly complicated and fussy whilst not delivering the clarity and cutting edge approach we have come to expect from Japanese electronics. The speed recognition cameras that have replaced sat-nav speed indicators are particularly inaccurate and distracting - just overly fussy and not to be depended on and seems to go against Suzuki's reputation for reliability.
A good review. I test drove the entry level and like you was impressed. I have the previous SZ5 model and came from a T Roc SEL where the interior was a lot worse than the S-cross not only that bits fell off it and the head unit was unpredictable at best! I have ordered the Ultra and a VW with the same level of spec would I think cost close to £40k! I was also pleased you made the point about the Quashqui, because so many reviewers ignore the fact that although it is cheaper than the Suzuki Motion it does not come with anywhere near the same level of spec!
Yes lots of plastic used in the T-roc so nice to have some bits of leather on the dash. I got used to radar cruise at VW so I always count that as important to me. Yes exactly, I doubt anyone goes for the Quashqai with steel wheels and no infotainment screen
Very well equipped for the entry model and this new one is definitely better looking too. Could do with slightly plusher trim I think though, as to me the seats especially are quite cheap looking.
I have had mine a week after years of driving top of the range Skoda Superbs. I have to say my S Cross Ultra Auto is a fantastic little car. All grip is brilliant and ergonomically refreshing. Customer Service is streets ahead of Skoda / VWFS. Dealership in Corby is brilliant. Try one, I think you will be suitably impressed!
We just bought one yesterday part exing a suzuki swift sport boosterjet. The s cross is nice to drive. Loads of great useable stuff in it and with 0% finance is 50 pounds cheaper a month than the swift sport. Can't wait to collect the car in early March. Cheers Pete
I had a test drive in this car but auto transmission this week, having owned an SZ-5 previously which had the panoramic sunroof, leather seats etc I was thinking that I would be opting for the Ultra, however I have gone for the Motion in Titan Grey and will be getting auto as I found my first ever drive in an auto so easy (I have been driving manuals for over 40 years). I had a long test drive on different road types and gradients, town and country and motorway. My car is on order and I can’t wait to get it.

We have not got this 3rd gen S Cross in Indonesia, however I am so pleased that you cover the basic model, as this trim might the one into Indonesia. I am hoping that my country got the 1.4T Mild hybrid same as yours, as the current version is using 1.5 Naturally aspirated with 6 AT, and 108hp which is so underpowered compared its big body. Impressive vehicle. Good review. I owned a Vitara a couple of years ago and chose it over the then SX4 S-Cross because I felt it looked more stylish. Now, I would probably choose the new S-Cross over the Vitara for the same reason. You're right about the seat fabric though... something a tad less utilitarian looking would 'lift' the cabin 100%.

I'm impressed with your review. I drive a skoda karoq sel auto and even though it is a great car I'll be handing it back at the end of my PCP as I can't afford another one. The s cross looks like a great alternative.
It won’t launch in india. Grand Vitara is a completely different car from S-Cross, it’s not the same car with a rename, like it’s often misconcepted to be. But anyways, Grand Vitara is a wayyy better car than S-Cross, so just get that

It's stuffed with kit and will do an honest job. OK the interior could be better but that could be said of almost every entry model car on sale. Is the improved interior really worth the extra cost over this one? Well I guess that's going to be down to personal preference and the primary use of the car. My wife had the previous S Cross and it was wonderful. Two other points. Why do reviewers when talking about design have to say things look more Aggressive. We don’t want Aggressive. The other thing is why do car makers think they are doing you a big favour giving you leather seats. They can be so cold in winter.
I agree, all-leather seats feel cold in winter and sticky in summer! But the seats on the Ultra are only part leather (the side bolsters and headrests); the central part, that you sit on, is still fabric.
The S-cross is an excellent value proposition, but I feel some things could've been changed like the steering wheel design and switch controls around. And the rear taillights look a bit odd !
@@hilawyon21 Yes po walang s-cross sa pinas. Ang meron is yung older version na SX4 (originally, higher trim version ng SX4 ang s-cross). But as of 2016, sadly hindi na sya available.
But you do have the XL7, albeit without the 1.4 turbo, which Suzuki should be using across the board as it is an excellent engine with plenty of torque.

I have the previous scross 1,4 auto GL+ and.....everything is fine. It will be better for me to know what is changed from the previous model. Yes ,that will be interesting to know........what to do if I i want to upgrade me!!!!

Remember the MK1 and it's sister car the Fiat Sidici. The Suzuki was the nicer looking and far more common. The MK2 wasn't great with it's big chrome grill. Was a pretty rare sight. This new model is a big improvement. £25k for a well equipped basic model. A little high perhaps. Reduce by a couple of thousand ( say £22,500 ). That would ruffle the competition. Surprised that Suzuki didn't go for the Toyota Corolla C Cross and rebadge that. It's apparently on it's way from the US. But then at an estimated £30k

Fabulous cars, we have had Suzukis for years and wouldn't have any other make, reliable, economical and really good value for money.

You’re right - likely the main reason you’ll go for the top spec is to get the 4x4

is the new s cross NCAP tested ?
My wife had the previous S Cross and it was wonderful. Two other points. Why do reviewers when talking about design have to say things look more Aggressive. We don’t want Aggressive. The other thing is why do car makers think they are doing you a big favour giving you leather seats. They can be so cold in winter.
I agree, all-leather seats feel cold in winter and sticky in summer! But the seats on the Ultra are only part leather (the side bolsters and headrests); the central part, that you sit on, is still fabric.
The S-cross is an excellent value proposition, but I feel some things could've been changed like the steering wheel design and switch controls around. And the rear taillights look a bit odd !
I quite like the tail lights but yes I agree some more interior bits could have done with a spruce up

I think Suzuki needs to use some color variation to make it more attractive.

How I wish this is still available in our country (philippines). I own the older version SX4 and I love it. It's a cheap, practical and reliable car.
hindi po siya available sa Pinas.. Vitara po and Swift ang meron doon. Dito po sa uk s-cross gamit ko. Sulit naman po ang gaan i-maneho 😃
@@hilawyon21 Yes po walang s-cross sa pinas. Ang meron is yung older version na SX4 (originally, higher trim version ng SX4 ang s-cross). But as of 2016, sadly hindi na sya available.
But you do have the XL7, albeit without the 1.4 turbo, which Suzuki should be using across the board as it is an excellent engine with plenty of torque.
All that SUV is about.
Simple and practical.

I have the previous scross 1,4 auto GL+ and.....everything is fine. It will be better for me to know what is changed from the previous model. Yes ,that will be interesting to know........what to do if I i want to upgrade me!!!!
I test drove the entry level scross but decided to purchase the ultra,automatic in sphere blue. ordered it for March but have just been told they can't get me one till june

Remember the MK1 and it's sister car the Fiat Sidici. The Suzuki was the nicer looking and far more common. The MK2 wasn't great with it's big chrome grill. Was a pretty rare sight. This new model is a big improvement. £25k for a well equipped basic model. A little high perhaps. Reduce by a couple of thousand ( say £22,500 ). That would ruffle the competition. Surprised that Suzuki didn't go for the Toyota Corolla C Cross and rebadge that. It's apparently on it's way from the US. But then at an estimated £30k
Yes I know what you mean but after a bit of discount, I think it will be there. I’ll have to check out the Carolla C-cross, I’ve not heard of it. Apparently there is a brand new electric Suzuki city car, so I’m interested to see that

You're welcome. I will be honest it's not the best sound system from memory. I have another S-cross in a couple of weeks (the strong hybrid this time) I am thinking of answering some questions in this video. So I will include about the sound system, anything else you would like to know?

Good video, one small suggestion could you be louder or change your mic / or its position as your voice is bit low, but overall nice video.
One of the few subcompact crossovers that you can get with 4WD, although the 4WD one is almost a second slower to 100kph.
Most subcompact crossovers sold are only offered with FWD.
Hopefully in the future I’ll be able to test out the AWD capabilities

@@AutoSocialUK well in my country s-cross is lined up for q1 2022 along with Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Other few contenders are Volkswagen Taigun (made for Indian market) and Skoda Kushaq(made for Indian Market).
