Crazy thing about this game is it still was made for and ran on the Neo Geo hardware! This is even though it was the early to mid-2000s with 6th gen hardware like the OG Xbox being current! The fact a basically 16-bit (or 24-bit if you will) game was holding up at that time says everything!
I hope that NeoGeo Battle Coliseum gets released on Steam/PS4 or 5/Switch next year! I’m having hopes that 2025 will shower us with 2D fighting game rereleases. The few we know are gonna happen include CFC2 and Aquapazza so far. I’m hoping Asura Buster gets picked up by Qubyte for a rerelease next year.
Yes this game was a real gem. I love SNK from the late 90’s and early 2000’s and this game brought it all back. The character roster and game design were solid. About everything you could want in a 2D fighter and more. Yes the 1x1 could be seen as a negative but this isn’t supposed to be King of Fighters. It’s more like Mark of the Wolves with a giant roster of SNK and Capcom. Just seeing what was included in this game at the time it came out made me forget all about the graphics. This hits very high standards and exceeds all expectations.
Another stellar review as always Jim. It's a title I would certainly try if I can find the free time to do so. I think with a title like this one of the biggest things I do appreciate about it is definitely the art style. It's certainly not as colourful as other fighting games that were released at that time but I almost appreciate the rustic look of this title. I know I'll definitely get my enjoyment out of it if I find an opportunity to play it.
I had no clue this existed until I saw it in an arcade in Shinjuku when I lived there. I was blown away by seeing Capcom characters in the SNK art style. So cool!! Also plays great. Got the OG Xbox version CIB at home now and you can be sure it’s been copied to the hard drive! 😉 The last boss, Mr. Karate is super cheap but feels great when you finally beat him!
I never got to play this since I didn't have a NeoGeo so I'm thrilled that it's back. Perhaps my favorite part is seeing all the interactions between characters. And I personally prefer single fights over teams but that's just me.
@ that’s the version I used to play, and I don’t mind the announcer in that version, sounds like the one from NeoGeo Battle Colosseum, and for me, I prefer the fully English announcer rather than the Japanese announcer trying to speak English There are secrets I wanna uncover, I remember clearly that Athena and the Red Arremer had an intro dialogue with each other, and it was fully translated into English, plus Win Quotes for each other and in the mirror marches of themselves
my first experience with this one was a ROM I played of it on PC. I thought it was alright but CVS2 is definitely leagues better. but probably not the worst way to kill time on consoles til Capcom Fighting Collection 2 drops with all that CVS goodness.
Oh yes. I love playing capcom fighting games just like street fighter and ultimate marvel vs. capcom 3. I played ultimate Marvel vs. capcom 3 and Street fighter before. But, I have never played snk before.
I hope they fixed that you only get 4 credits in arcade mode. that is ridiculous! I always enjoyed the graphical style. I never cared what critics said. It would have been cool to have a flashier more energetic vibe though. Although, the purgatory stuff is interesting.

Picked this up for the Switch and PS4. I like it then and I like it now. Fun 😊😊😊

The art style is definitely something that sets it apart, but aside from that it is a solid fighting game.

Super cheap final boss? That’s how you know the game is “SNK-style.”
Oh HELL YEAH, I’m getting Capcom Fighting Collection vol. 2. Already have mine preordered!
Same here
The Chaos is among us Mad Panic Gaming AWESOME
Maybe it's overshadowed by Capcom's collections, but I still appreciate the port. This completes the circle.
Damn right we want more SvC!
I've just ordered this game for the Switch and I can't wait to play it!

I love SvC Chaos I think it was a great game with cool art style and sprites. It feels very SNK
I does indeed.
Absolutely love the art style of this game. It’s not the most balanced, but I love it.
DAMN RIGHT!!!!
My man in Japan TkyoSam
I wanna play this but on the OG Xbox
@@AlexIn_ThaCosmos89 I own it on the OG Xbox.
That's the version I had years ago, solid port

Damn ill have to check out that first one and i think the graphics look good
NeoGeo Pocket content? Yes please
Are you getting the upcoming game Capcom Fighting Collection Vol 2 next year?
@@Darule514 almost certainly
Are you ready for christmas jim?
I always liked how the Capcom characters look here. The backgrounds are very boring unfortunately.
True, graphically it's a mixed bag, but I dig the art direction
this was not that good
