I didn't find any statistics, but working in the gamedev industry for many years, the only reason anyone I've met is using 3DSmax now was that they (sometimes me included) were working for a company that had decades old pipeline with handcrafted custom plugins and they were too scared to change it, but even in that case those people were using 3dsmax only as an exporter for their engine pipeline... And I really hope I'm never ever forced again to use that software
Create a star spline, extrude and twist. It’s non destructive and quicker 😉

Yes, you can use the Screw modifier with a Subdiv to achieve the same result

В блендере подобное можно сделать в разы проще, на верхней панели можно включить вращение, главное немного разобратся
