If we don't surrender to God we end up like Jacob (Genesis 32:22-32) and God will break our Hips! He will disciple us and He does punish the wicked! Hebrews 12:4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not take lightly the discipline of the Lord, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you. 6 For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastises every son He receives.” 7 Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons!

I have a question do I have to give up my dreams and goals in order to get closer to God? How do I surrender? and can I still ask God to help fulfill my dreams and goals and desires in life? I’m sorry if they are dumb questions ☹️
Honestly I'm not sure if this is the answer you're looking for, but your earthly plans and desire are not equal to his eternal plans and desires. So it's more of submitting and recognizing that he has something more for you once this life is over.
Hi! I just saw this but we know that scripture says that God will give you the desires of your heart when you delight yourself in him! I think putting him first is the most important thing, and he’ll guide you. He loves when we seek him for guidance and help!!
