Ajijic has certainly changed a lot since 2018, but I think a lot of the magic that draws people to move here still exists. What do you think of the ✨mesmerizing surprise✨ I saw?? 😍
I really enjoyed this video, as I do all your publications. Ajijic looks absolutely beautiful. My type of town. It's also not too far from major cities.
Ok, so it looks like Everyone agrees, We Love Your Singing......Please, for the love of God, Sing More, Maddie Gold!! It uplifts the frequencies of your followers and the world at large. I know I'm sounding dramatic, but it's true! Love ❤️ to you and everyone on here...
Beautiful voice! I’m also a fellow hooker 😉 (crochet). Loved the crochet guitar strap. I’ve been making crochet purses and backpacks lately and lining them with cool materials.
Totally agree. Amazing voice. We definitely want to hear you sing more. Show That gift. By the way you might want to visit Jocotepec, Jalisco. It's 20 minutes away from Ajjic. That's another pueblo which people from Canada retire as well.
Ajijic is a great place even for younger people. There are great restaurants but there is more to do here than eating. Their are art galleries, theater, hiking trails, thermal spas, meditation groups, massage, boating on the lake, and my wife and I are going dancing tonight at a Resturant that has live Latin/ rock music. Here are just a few things that Ajijic and the surrounding area has to offer.
Peter, it's nice to get authentic feedback. Still sounds like a very good option......especially if you don't like the humidity of the coastal cities. With plenty to do!
OMG Maddie your singing voice is that of an angel...such a natural talent!! Your vlogging style is so enjoyable, hope you are able to expand to major streaming platforms and/or a travel tv show. 👏
You are looking healthier emotionally with every video, I’m seeing less and less of the sadness that was like a rain cloud hanging over you! Thankful that you’re doing well! Thankful for the wonderful videos about this beautiful city🙏❤️
Such a nice fun video! You seem brighter & light hearted (even though you weren’t feeling the best after a few rough days) plus more settled & confident. Love seeing Mexico through your eyes!
Omg. You’ve actually convinced me to live there. It’s beautiful, relaxing, you can be yourself, it’s on the water, the temps are amazing year round, great restaurants, it would be an amazing home base that you can travel throughout all of Mexico from and come home to a peaceful paradise. My vote is buy there!
I love this style of video! This is the perfect formula: showing us the town, places to eat, a little personal stuff … way to go Maddie. Ajijic is so beautiful and seems peaceful! I agree with you, Mexico has gotten expensive like many other places especially touristy areas. I am currently in Silao a small town in Guanajuato and it’s dirt cheap! No tourists, a little rough and dirty . Nothing much to do but enjoy the authentic side of Mexico so I really love it here! Great video Maddie, you have the most beautiful angelic sweet voice ever 🥰
Hey Maddie! I loved every inch of this video! The clouds were AMAZING and you captured so much! How could ANYONE think Lake Chapala is boring?!? When I went there I was mesmerized... I was there with family and friends in a group and at one point, I said, Sorry I will meet you when it's time to leave and I went off on my own adventure! People who are bored have NO imagination... and that most Certainly is not YOU! Also I am so proud of you for taking up and instrument! Your voice is your built in instrument and it is absolutely Lovely!! Keep it going! That last meal was awesome... as I was watching the ingredients going in, I was thinking... "hey I can make that" ! And I shall !!! Gracias for everything you share... Wherever you land there will be Sunshine and beauty... Don't listen for a minute to the Naysayers!
Your comment made me smile ear to ear from start to finish. Thanks for taking the time to write me this 🥰 And I totally agree with you about finding your own fun/adventure even if everyone else finds boredom. We create our own reality!!
I LOVE AJIJIC!!!! I am not elderly and I would live there in a heartbeat!!! I think you should get a place there, as it is safe and BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! FILM MORE IN AJIJIC!!!!
Hi Maddie! Welcome back to Lake Chapala. We've been living here for almost 4 years and yes, there are some old boring people here, but there are also some vibrant, active, interesting people of all ages. There are so many things to do besides eat at restaurants (though that's fun too). Since you speak Spanish so well, you have the advantage of making friends with both native Mexican residents as well as residents from other countries. There are art exhibits, music events (Jazz, Classical, Flamenco, Mariachi, etc), yoga, tiangis, festivals, etc. Hope you decide to make this your home base. PS - that Rainbow had to be a good omen!!
I love that you showed us your progress on the ukulele! That takes a lot of guts! Your voice is so sweet, too! Ajijic seems like a very laid back relaxing place and a wonderful place to vacation or retire. I would be surprised if you settled there, as I perceive that you would thrive somewhere a little busier and more vibrant. On the other hand, maybe a quiet restorative environment might recharge you between travels. I don't know! I love the idea of comparison videos though.
I have lived in La Paz for three years, I love it here, the snorkeling is great because of the way we're situated in a double bay, the waters are calm and you can see tons of fish swimming just swimming from shore. I can't imagine not living on the ocean though.
I admire you for just having a channel and putting yourself out there. I know it has to be difficult sometimes-people can be so unkind and just downright rude. Thank you for all the informative and interesting content!
Glad to see another video so soon. You look great. I love strong women. and I think you are very brave. Thank you for sharing your story with us and you will be happy to know that you will help influence other young women . Thanks for being a roll model.
Hey, Maddie! You were never more lovable than when you were singing and playing the ukulele. As for Ajijic being boring nothing could be further from the truth. The culture, festivals, parades, music, so many events like the Balloon festival and many more, every imaginable food choice at the local restaurants, the Malecon, the lake, the island, the hiking in the mountains, the numerous clubs for everything, golfing, proximity to Guadalajara, and, yes, the near perfect weather. The best place I ever lived in my life. Buy that first place in last week's video. Become a Real Estate agent. Be happy. We all love you!
Hi Maddie. I met you briefly at the Globos festival recently. You looked like you were having fun. No matter where you go, there you are. Fitting quote for this area. Any place is what you make of it and no place will insure your own happiness. Ajijic is "boring" because there are not a lot of young folk activities...I guess. You do have excellent restaurant choices, lots of live music of all kinds, wonderful weather, easy access to an airport, Guadalajara is one hour away, lots of shopping, cinemas showing new films, three live theaters, a casino, four hour drive to a variety of beach towns, lovely weekly markets, lively festivals, strong traditional activities, friendly locals, good library, lots of craft choices, a ukulele club, etc. Granted there are many folks of a certain age enjoying these activities but more "work from home" younger types are also coming down. I have lived in Patzcuaro, San Miguel de Allende, Jocotepec, several towns in Peru, and have been to at least 25 states in Mexico and have not found anyplace that feels more like home than here. I came here to live the first time when I was 19 years old in 1972 and it has changed dramatically...but so has every place on earth. Change is the only constant. Settle in and enjoy. Alan
Maddie! Excellent editing again! I love how you are able to make me feel like I am right there with you, walking in those beautiful places. Your voice is so unique, that was a big surprise! 😍 Those esquites looked so good! Keep following your heart, that's what's making your content work. 🧡
Your recent videos have brought me back to what I would call the glory days of the old TT days. Touring places, eating food, and really letting us see what the areas are like. I wish you all the best in growing your new channel. Keep it up.
Hi Maddie, first time writer here longtime listener. I think you’re absolutely right about plugging into the community in Ajijic for success . I read about a woman who left San Miguel because she was tired of the party party party all the time. She went back home so she could plug into her old life. I think that’s what we’re required to do wherever we live. We need to plug-in to life and the community, and then we find happiness.
you go girl!!! Remember...nothing worth learning is easy! AND!! You have a beautiful voice! Don't ever stop!!! It gets way easier!! Please show us more of the city!
Ajijic looks beautiful! Never been but now I want to visit. You sound great singing. Thanks for sharing progress on the ukelele. A comparison video of different cities would be a nice series as well as occasional updates on your ukelele progress.
And once again, I loved, loved, loved this video on so many levels. Your humour, your authenticity and natural presence, so unaffected. That mesmerizing rainbow cloud! And wow, those esquites deluxe looked delicious and nutritious!
I liked the video before I watched it, because, you know, it’s Maddie. Then I watched and wished I could like it twice. I won’t, of course, cause that might negate my first like.
Hi Maddie! I’ve been following you on RUclips for a few years. Con respecto a tus talentos musicales "que bonito cantas" y gracias por apreciar y compartir tus experiencias viviendo en México.
Thank you for the fabulous tume sharing the scarf cloud! I'd never seen or heard of one before & since living in St. Petersburg Florida rainbows are something I truly miss. Now I'll be looking for acarf clouds. ❤️
Maddie!!!!!!!!!!!! You’re an artist!!!!!!! Loved this video! Those clouds!!!!!!! The streets! The murals! Those esquites! Everything! I’m happy to see you all happy there hanging out with friends.
This would be the perfect home base for you to have family & friends from the states to come stay - comfortable & safe. Plus, its only a 30-45 minute drive to the Guadalajara airport for all of your traveling adventures outside of Mexico. Buying a home there now could be a great property investment & future retirement (?) in your later years. Not to mention, Costco, Walmart, etc. in Guadalajara.
I bought an investment home in neighboring San Juan Cosala at 45 where I now live & work full time. People thought I was crazy (and too young) at the time but it was an excellent rental and it's a great community that has only improved in terms of infrastructure & more things to do. The weather is really great year-round, as close to Southern California as you can get and if you like to travel, the Central location & proximity to the airport & many fun adventures within a day's drive is great! Of course it's not for everybody but there is definitely a reason (or many!) so many people choose Lake Chapala. With that said, you have to choose what feels best to you! ;)
Oh my gosh I have never seen that kind of rainbow before! Thank you so much for filming it for us! 🤩🤩🤩 Also, I so enjoyed your singing. Such an amazing voice!
Dear Maddie~ I was moved by learning in one of your videos that you are a serious trooper in having survived major poisoning (mercury?). It opened my eyes to how courageous and resilient you are ... even if you don't always feel as if you are. (Especially those times!) One of my favorite quotes of all time comes from a story in the book (not the movie) To Kill A Mockingbird. Atticus Finch, an understated but stalwart hero, of integrity, tells his children: “I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what.” I just love that. Because our most profound victories in life are not as we would prefer (with medals, awards, money, or fanfare); they are when we are alone in our struggles and wonder if we can make it another day... and we do! At any rate, hearing about your difficult year just made me realize you are someone I can really appreciate, far more than just a fun, cook gal sharing Mexico travels. I am cheering you on, not just re: the vlog, but for you in Life. OK. Here is input you may already have, and I don't like mentioning anything not good about Ajijic (especially as one of my good friends wants to move there). I have been researching where I might wish to live in Mexico, and in that process came some pointers from a guy who is married to a Mexican local in Guanajuato. She is a lifelong; he has lived there with her for 16 years. He said to research pollution in Lake Chapala (he said that neither expats or locals really care to talk about it, but as you have had to deal with heavy metals poisoning... the last thing I want to do is stress you out... but I decided to write this, because if I were in your shoes, I would want to know before deciding to buy a home). I read articles and watched videos on the subject. My honest assessment based on that? The chemical contamination is high. Unless the government has changed position and taken notable measures to stop companies like Driscoll from emptying their chemical sprays into the river which pours into the lake... it's there. The local governor? In an interview was smiling and saying there is no pollution issue whatsoever, the lake is fine. But other articles showed an unusually high level of kidney failure happening amongst local children living around the lake. (Part of the news story's concern was that it seems difficult for people to change a way of living they grew up with; thus, even if told not to drink the water, those that grew up doing this have a hard time switching gears, especially when not using the water means dealing with other logistical and financial concerns. It seems that the government officials are not going to interfere with the mega agriculture companies in the area, for they do not wish to lose the revenue gained by having such big companies in their region. And so... water pollution has largely gone uninterrupted. (I suppose one could simply load up on the large version of Life Straws. They have the larger unit type that can give showers or provide water for a village, I think 10,000 gallons worth for a $70 USD unit. (I don't work for them. I'm researching getting water purifiers as well. :) In the end, I felt I ought to mention this, as it might be highly relevant to you. For this reason, I'd go to Queretero instead. (If you love Ajijic enough to want to stay, that local told me there are several littler lakes which are much cleaner in the area, though he did not specify which ones.) I think the need for an uncontaminated environ as well as access to natural supplements represent my greatest reservations about Mexico. I really like what I see of Merida, except I don't know if I could really survive the temperatures there. I think for myself, Queretero sounds like a best option. But I don't assume that what I prefer translates to what everyone else should do or prefer. Best WIshes!
What! Maddie you have an amazing voice. I had no idea you could sing so beautifully! Loved the video, you make the best vlogs. Always look forward to it! 💕
Yes, can you believe Maddie's beautiful voice? I mean, I think she should make an album. I have lots of song recommendations of different styles that would go with that voice. But I think she could sing anything.
Maddie, what a lovely voice you have! Your singing is great to listen to and the ukulele will come along in time. Bravo for learning and developing a new talent! Really enjoy your videos. Cheers!
I would love to see a video of homes and neighbourhoods in Coyoacan, CDMX. I love the combination of historical architecture with a very artsy, dynamic vibe.
I vote Ajijic!!! I think it’s perfect for you!! You will meet some excellent people of all ages there!! I love how happy and lit up you are when you are there
We lived in Ajijic in 2004-2006. I can’t see videos of there without tearing up over our Brandy and Buddy. Two street dogs that we brought back to Florida with us. They’ve since went over Rainbow Bridge. ❤️❤️
Maddie you are a little Cutie pie! I Love how you are Bold enough to try and master everything!🥰 I am still Praying for you honey 💕 Just remember you ARE LOVED!💜🎉🎉 You have a Beautiful Voice sweet girl. The Lord has His Arms Wrapped around YOU. HE TELLS US IN PSALMS 46 I AM AN IMMEDIATE HELP IN TIMES OF TROUBLE. YOU REMEMBER THAT SWEETHEART 💜 Sorry I didn't mean to CAP this! I am a Dork😂💜
Maddie your voice is amazing, keep working on that Uke would love to hear more. As for were you will settle, I think you maybe should keep all options open at this stage of your life. You are young and I hope you find yourself a lovely travel partner that makes you smile.
Maddie on, gal! Thank you for this lovely video. I always notice the special quality of the light in Ajijic, which you captured beautifully in this video.
Yes, those rainbows are mesmerizing! I saw one about 20 years ago and not before or since, nice siting! Oh wait, maybe it was the bugs, also very cool. Ajijic is awesome, I really wasn’t serious about the retirees on the last one. I know you’ve lived there before, in fact, you’ve seen enough of Mexico to make the best decision for you. Maddie is gold as always!!
I’m loving your realtor talents. You show houses very well with great info. Your voice girl, it’s impressive. Playing your new musical instrument is entertaining. Love to see you happy and smiling again. Loving your videos!❤️
I usually dont make comments Maddie but u did I nice job on the ukalade/ even better on the singing was impressive it was in tune and in key.nice voice!! Looking forward to some singing and more travels bye for now.
Loved seeing more of Ajijic...what a charming town. Being older, I am sure I would love it there. Food looked great, and oh those colorful clouds were magic! Keep working on the uke...your voice is beautiful!
Fun to see your adventures and you have a beautiful voice. This area might be good for you to leave...quiet and safe enough but close enough to venture more loud
Ajijic has certainly changed a lot since 2018, but I think a lot of the magic that draws people to move here still exists. What do you think of the ✨mesmerizing surprise✨ I saw?? 😍
Maddie, question for you please: How did you earn all that money in order to be able to buy a house in Mexico? Houses do not come cheap anywhere.
Rainbow over clouds is gorgeous
It was magnificent
I really enjoyed this video, as I do all your publications. Ajijic looks absolutely beautiful. My type of town. It's also not too far from major cities.
That cloud/rainbow show was amazing! Gracias!!! 🌈☁️🌈
Agree 👍

What the heck?! You’ve been holding out on us- You can sing! The ukulele was alright but seriously you need to sing more for us!

(If you love Ajijic enough to want to stay, that local told me there are several littler lakes which are much cleaner in the area, though he did not specify which ones.)
I think the need for an uncontaminated environ as well as access to natural supplements represent my greatest reservations about Mexico. I really like what I see of Merida, except I don't know if I could really survive the temperatures there.
I think for myself, Queretero sounds like a best option. But I don't assume that what I prefer translates to what everyone else should do or prefer. Best WIshes!

We lived in Ajijic in 2004-2006. I can’t see videos of there without tearing up over our Brandy and Buddy.
Two street dogs that we brought back to Florida with us.
They’ve since went over Rainbow Bridge. ❤️❤️
