The thing is that some of those are fine though, they find a way to at least use it differently, Mabu was never an Em clone, he is a Pop Smoke clone, but he was taken out of the vial 3 months too early
They're not rappers, they use rap a commodity, they don't care about the culture and the people who created it, it's all a gimmick I mean, are they part of rap music history? Like genuinely, I don't think so
Luxury Life literally feels like the song equivalent of "i re-uploaded this RUclips video a thousand times" like you said the interpolation of the interpolation
I didn't think it was possible for a hip-hop beat to be that racist purely out of the context in which it was created, but out of all the rappers to be on it Mabu probably cracks the top 5.
The entire Junior Senior discography goes hard. Underrated af. Also that fear of the music video reminded me of when I was 5 and was paralyzingly scared of the phrase "awww man" for some reason.
Bruh, my tinnitus started acting up and made me go almost deaf in my left ear from ringing during the intro at 00:17 and I deadass just thought it was a bit for the video...
Move Your Feet is one of my favorite songs. I feel in love with the jersey club beat instantly. But tbf, ive been listening to the instrumental version for over a yesr before Nikki got it.
4:26 AVRIL LAVIGNE by the german Rapper CHAPO102 is in my opinion an interpolation of the exept same song that actually works really well and is pretty fire. You should definitly check that one out!
For a future good sample (at least in my opinion), NO HOOK 3 by ADF SAMSKI. It’s a Dutch Drill song that samples Lady (Hear Me Tonight) by Modjo. The sample is very simple, it’s pretty much just a rap song over the original instrumental, but I think the beat works really well with rapping over it.
No, you are absolutely correct for finding Everybody ominous. It's like Nicki is rapping over a maniacally-chanting serial killer hacking up a victim while Move Your Feet plays on a skipping CD player.
bruv i love busta but the man really struggles with singing. sometimes its decent like in 'i know what you want' and then othertimes it's whatever the fuck that was
For everybody, it’s got too much going on in one place. It’s two voice things happening at once. If they were at different pitches I’d bet it’d be better. Like chaotic songs can be good, just it’s a lot of mids
'Feel Good' by Suigeneris has to come up in a future video of these - he sort of straddles the line between "decent interpolation" and "über lazy sampling", cos Suigeneris just uses the main tone from the Gorillaz song, and uses one line on the first line of the hook - it is funky tho
I wouldn't call the dolly parton sample nostalgia bait because her song would have come out decades before the birth of most people in the target audience
7:11 - if you want to hear a reinterpretation of this song that absolutely slaps I highly recommend Lingua Ingota's cover of Jolene. It sound like ur dying :)
Nostalgia samples can be good if they’re flipped in a way that gives it a new structure and makes a brand new motif. The problem with low-effort nostalgia samples as shown in the video, is that they don’t change the sample. They keep the motif from the original, a motif that was likely much more popular at the time of release. It doesn’t stick the same. Ever tried to watch your favorite movie again? Doesn’t feel the same as the first time, does it?
that's not true for me,I think nostalgia samples can also be good even if they have the same motif. It depends if they done in a way that's actually great or good even or if it ruins the original track.
Since you mentioned songs that sampled Jolene, A much better song that at least took inspiration from it is Codeine Heartbreak by Paul Wall featuring Crys Wall (Who I believe his wife) And it delves into Paul’s addiction to Lean and it was pretty heart tugging in my opinion
That beat from jay z has a decent history. It’s from Epmd’s “it’s my thing”, and came from the sample of “7 minutes of funk” by the whole darn family. It’s an iconic hip hop beat. You like what you like though🤷🏽♂️.
if u wanna make a flip on this i heavily recommend not another teen movie by polo perks!!! the whole tape this song is from is amazing too. paparazzi by polo perks is also great
I think it's because it's not really from admiration in a lot of these instances and more just to hope that the weirdness of the sample brings attention to the track
On the contrary, I actually believe Nicki Minaj did GREAT with the sample on Everybody. It's fun/creative, catchy, and you can actually dance to it. I never cared to seek out the original after enough listens, but Nicki added some new life to it
Sum I bet yall did know abt Everybody is the producer DJ Smallz originally had it up on RUclips and other shi but it was js a remix for Move Ya Feet but like last year he wiped it of everything and I assume it's bc Niki ended up wanting it

Lil Mabu is the first white rapper that I wish would’ve stuck to being an Eminem clone
He should’ve never gone near a mic
The thing is that some of those are fine though, they find a way to at least use it differently, Mabu was never an Em clone, he is a Pop Smoke clone, but he was taken out of the vial 3 months too early
Also add Tom Macdonald to that list; I mean he still does bite Eminem a lot, but I would rather he just stuck to doing that
