How to Adjust a Patio Door Latch

I love that this was posted 8 years ago and has still been helping people all this time...including me in 2023! Just fixed my sliding door in a townhouse I moved into only a month ago.

Life saver I thought I needed a new latch. I adjusted the screw and it worked

Omg we have two door handles that wouldn’t lock I
adjusted the Screws on both of them just like you said to do and 🎉 yay after having the back door broken for about seven years, we had another small lock that we could press the lock down with our foot so we used that, then 2 days ago our sunroom patio door would not lock. I adjusted that screw too and it’s as good as new. Thank you so much 10 years later your video came in handy to me. 😊

Lots of videos out there showing how to adjust the striker only but this is the real deal with striker and latch.

Thanks it helped me understand a little of what happens inside the mechanism. I had to partially disassemble the lock mechanism and turn the nuts bolt over because idk how the hell the previous owner managed to eff that up somehow . I used screw drivers needles nose pliers to flip it and made it work again. Saved my self money 💰. Took patience and the right tools of course. Thanks again.

I have a question though. How do you prevent the adjustment screw from moving? I find i am constantly having to adjust every couple of days. Seems very loose
