finally a video on these brakes, never tried them personally but i tell all my friends about them and already know they beat all of the competition besides full on moto brakes
I rode Zay's eRide with the Ultra Bee brake conversion kit and IMO they were too sensitive obviously tuned for a much heavier bike. If you like super sensitive brakes you might like them, but you really have to be careful not to lockup both front and rear tires with them.
I bought some from you recently. They are a massive improvement over stock and the TRP rear brakes i had tried. I recently went back country on my Talaria and have always had major fade problems on the steep, rocky trails, but these were great 👍. I would recommend.
Ventus One! Thanks for consistently showcasing this bike on your channel. As a proud owner of this e-moto, I have to say this is the only flaw of the bike-and you’re absolutely spot on! It’s a shame the left brake is currently sold out on your site. I’d have bought a set without hesitation! When the left brake is going to be in stock? I want them now
Glad to see the smaller formula caliper sounds to hold up. Bret I'm not sure if you remember me but at TKO 2023 I showed you the brake setup I was selling adapters for using Formula brakes from a Cake/ktm65. Those are the same masters, its just the calipers were more moto sized than these so I was a little skeptical about the smaller calipers when these came out. Its nice that these are just bolt on as my adapters did take some adjusting depending on wheel setup but the final performance was well worth it.
I’d recommend pairing these with straight pull hubs. They’ll stress the spoke bends on bicycle style hubs. Broken spokes are no bueno. Really looking forward to trying a set of these brakes!
Brake pad comparison to the MX5 and the Ventus one with a how to video on shortening the brake lines on these new brakes would be a highly viewed & popular video. I’m sure.
Rear Brakes will be back in stock very soon! Those sold out quicker than the front, but we are working on it, and yes a brake line shortening video is definitely needed!
Yes however we do recommend you upgrade to a 2.3mm thick rotor and minimum 220mm diameter for improved heat handling. More details in our blog: chargedcycleworks.com/blogs/news/introducing-formula-e-moto-brakes
They are not much thicker but made out of high quality materials, the sintered pads will last the longest. More details in our blog: chargedcycleworks.com/blogs/news/introducing-formula-e-moto-brakes
They come with a semi-metallic pad and Sintered are available, you can see more details in our blog: chargedcycleworks.com/blogs/news/introducing-formula-e-moto-brakes
These are MTB-size brakes that use DOT fluid. These still use small MTB-size brake pads. DOT fluid has its advantages and disadvantages over DOT fluid. But it’s not the most important thing in a brake system. Especially when the fluid is fresh and/ or changed at least once a year. Brake fluid boiling does not = failure, it results in brake fade. Which I’m not saying is good, but it’s not a failure. Are they better than a factory brake setup? Yes. By how much… questionable.
Prickly adapting the ultra bee brake onto the light bee is definitely an extremely strong brake, however the front hub on these bikes is the spec of a downhill mountain bike and unless you go to a different wheel setup like the warp 9 v3 hub and 240 rotor then your bolt holes are a little bit too small and have completely stripped out on multiple people using those brakes and overpowering the hub.
Definitely still a mountain bike caliper, hard to go away from that spec on these bikes without making an extremely expensive setup and adapters, but the moto master and overall stopping power of these brakes is really impressive.
@ChargedCycleWorks like I said in my other comment wouldn't it be a better option to run hope v4 caliper with moto lever. Ntc makes a banjo to convert to a 10mm lever

I would love to see how these compare to the ultra bee brakes. I have been holding off on buying them for my lbx

@ thank you! Keep the Ventus One content coming. P.S. the recent OTA update shows the bike now has 33kW of power in the VTB app!

Straight pull is definitely the way to go!
Thanks for the review been trying to source myself some in the uk for a while now

That video is already in the works! Good idea. 👍

These levers does not have sensors. Any breaks you can recommend that are better than stock Fastace , but with sensors?
Would be nice to see brake pads and compare to stock pads...
That's what I'm worried about. It's a mtb caliper adapted for dot fluid, still a mtb pad though almost identical size to stock
@@Bengy22 its bigger than hope tech pads, they are nice
Thanks for the comment, You can see the pad options in our blog here: chargedcycleworks.com/blogs/news/introducing-formula-e-moto-brakes
@ChargedCycleWorks thank you! But from that picture, it's hard to see the size of pads. Hope they are bigger than stock talaria mx4...
Do these fit warp 9 wheel setup?
You guys must have tested out the Volar Sport brakes by now?
Those are proper brakes made for these bikes not mtb or moto that’s been adapted.
I love that this video gets put out the literal day after I buy the volar sport kit😂
Let us know your thoughts on that kit!
Nice review! Can you do a video on how to shorten the brake line? Also I don’t see you having any rear brakes on hand? Thanks

@ thanks
Do these brake levers have sensors for brake lights?
No. They are more traditional moto brakes.
Will they fit on all rotors or OEM Surron wheels?
Yes however we do recommend you upgrade to a 2.3mm thick rotor and minimum 220mm diameter for improved heat handling. More details in our blog: chargedcycleworks.com/blogs/news/introducing-formula-e-moto-brakes
Couldnt you just take a moto lever and use hope v4 calipers and im sure it would feel just as good as this and better overall.
You guys are sold out already 😢
Also how thick are the pads mtb pads are so thin

Did a whole video of this on my Talaria XXX for stunting / wheelies on my channel. LOVE them!!

@@JoBrownFlow not really. Just look up the Talaria MX5 brake pad’s size
@@TechLineHD not really what? The MX5 pad is huge in size both area and thickness. The MX5 caliper is also significantly larger than an MTB caliper.
Correct, the pads must match MTB rotors. More details in our blog: chargedcycleworks.com/blogs/news/introducing-formula-e-moto-brakes

imo Bike brakes were the biggest limit, cheap tires and e power easily over power brakes. Brake were the limit on all ebikes before.
100%
Formula MTB brakes where some of the worst at the shop 2015-2018. I hope these hold up to hard use but I dont have high hopes
Formula has always made great moto brakes. These are closer to full moto than MTB
damn got to spend more money on brakes lol
That's a cura4 caliper. Nothing special. Still a mountian bike brake.
