Width. 39.3mm
Lug to lug. 48mm
Thickness. 13.9mm
Lug opening. 20mm
Crown. 6.5mm
Here's how I remember which direction to rotate the crown when adjusting the date or the GMT hand on the 4R34.
It's "DOWN" for "DATE" (D for D) and "UP" for "UTC" (U for U). UTC: Universal Time Coordinated = GMT. At first you might not know which direction to rotate the crown, and change the date instead of the GMT hand and/or vice-versa. Hope that helps.
Had this 2 months, never taken off apart from shower. It is excellent! Hardlex not a problem. Its been around along time...
I have this exact watch coming in from Trifecta today. Jake is the man.
Ordered one but with white dial from Japan. Cost a little more, but really like the white dial variant.
That's one good looking 5KeXplorer.
These new Seiko 5s are really nice!
Seiko done a great job again.
Just picked up a used one at $215 and receiving it today in the mail, excited to put it on wrist ! :)
Great deal
I did think I was done, but NOooo. But happy to work with Jake and Trifecta on this.
I was "done" about 30 watches ago 🙄
I have smaller wrists and this watch still works very well with the size and even height. It doesn't look big on my wrists at all.
Really love this one.
I'm waiting for grey market to get the jdm white dial variant.
Do you guys think a brown, tan dial variant will get made ?
Looks amazing and oldscool👌🏻
Damn I miss those 2017 times where I bought my first Seiko Samurai new for 260$
We had a competent president in those times
@@user-pn3im5sm7k Not even close.
@@user-pn3im5sm7kTrue words, agree.
@@user-pn3im5sm7k😂🤡
Not doing this in BLUE was a big mistake on Seiko's part...
What is the purpose of the numbered bezel, and does it rotate?
It's for the GMT hand to track a second time zone
Put a brown strap and it's the perfect field watch.
Nice looking watch, but should have saphire and a proper clasp at this price.
They never will for their 5 watches. Part of their marketing, otherwise less people will be inclined to buy their prospex watches.
It's available well under $300
Still no saphire crystal.99% off micro brands have it..would not cost seiko much to add it...
You could always mod it with one.
Rock the hardlex until you scratch it, then upgrade to sapphire
Agreed, in this day and age, even aliexpress Chinese specials come with sapphire.
They don't want it to get too close in specs to the mid range watches thats why otherwise hurt the next level sales.
Ive never seen or held a domed Hardlex, just the “regular” flat ones. Are they just as susceptible to scratches? I looked at my Hardlex-equipped BFK one time and I’m pretty sure it got scratched, they’re ridiculously non-robust. I don’t understand why Seiko (or everyone) doesn’t include sapphire on every model, when it’s affordable, AND one of the most beneficial features one can have on a watch. Not everyone knows or cares about the movement, but immediately one can spot the clarity and richness of sapphire. I guess it doesn’t really matter, when that afore-mentioned movement runs about +- 3 minutes a day, yes, minutes. This is a really nice-looking watch. Thanks for the review.
I got this in white and honestly did not like it, it was so small and flimsy, I even wondered if I got a fake one but the bracelet feel cheap and bites hair, and the dial is so reflective. the watch looks way bigger on camera in person its tiny, well to me
The speedmaster has hesalite crystal and costs 20 times more, stop the hardlex bashing, this is annoying
The Speedy has it because some hardcore fans want it, not for cost cutting. Different reasons
@@horlogemecanique they do everything themselves the cost cutting reason is irrelevant,
Hard to find. Everywhere is sold out.
why beef on the hardlex.... its shatter resistant, sapphire is not. its a field watch... designed to be worn in rugged environments, epxosed to wear and tear. seems to make sense to me. id take a scratch on a hike in the mountains before a shattered watch.
My hardlex Seiko watches have held up great. But I am pretty easy on my watches. Also I have to say, I have seen many scratched sapphire crystals.
20mm....not 22mm
I get the use of the hardlex but no lume on the Arabic's is lame. Kinda of kills it for me.
I like the minimalist lume approach. I can tell what damn time it is, but I can't read a book or be seen from low Earth orbit at night.
@@ShepherdsSheepdog I have bad night vision I need it to be as bright as possible. Have the numbers lumed helps
If it just had a screw down crown and lumed arabics, I'd probably have one yesterday. And I'd be complaining that it's not sapphire. Maybe seiko should just raise the price and fix everything.
Jake is nice!
1st position adjustment should move the HOUR hand and not the GMT hand. I want my ‘GMT watch’ to allow easy TZ changes while leaving GMT (reference) unchanged.
Other Seiko calibres do this - so this one is a fail.
I like it, except the bezel has a 24hr time in 24hr increments and the inner track have a 24hr time in 12hr increment. Not looking cohesive. Could've been better with a 24hr time in 24hr increments for the bezel, then 60min time for the outer dial, then 12hr time for the inner dial just like in the SNK809 or no bezel inscription but a 24hr time in 24hr increments for the inner track like the MWC GMT 100m G10
The lume - pointless putting lume on the GMT hand but not on the numerals. You're just going to see this as a regular lume shot in the dark but plus one random lumed hand. I don't get it.
Seems to be a slight gap between the crown and side of case.
The new Seiko's aren't a patch on the older models.
Haven't bought a Seiko since my Sarb in 2019.
You're my new purist hero.
I love this watch. Tried it on, I have 8.25” wrist and it looked silly. Bummer
U have a fat wrist. This is for tiny Asians
same I literally just commented this, I got it in white and man it looked like a toy and the dial was so cluttered
This watch is so close to selling me on it. Can I get a 42mm version please.
Noce pilot watch
Wish it was slimmer
*were 😋
The quality of new Seikos for the price is pretty Bad i must say, No Saphire, No screw down crown, stamped Clasp... i dont know but other Brands to that for much less Money and hey lets be true, Its a Rolex Explorer 2 Clone.
Sorry seiko but for around $140.00 you can get a 40mm Pagani Design PD-1762 with an nh34 and sapphire. Yea it's a clone of the explorer 2 but this model is not far off from that explorer 2. Nice watch but way over priced. Hard pass.
Hardlex = No! Sapphire is inexpensive.
Stamped clasp = no
No Lumed Numerals = no
4R35 movement = no
Seiko less quality more expensive more exploiting old fans more disappointing Will be sorry very soon
Oceaneva GMT is a far better value over all
San Martin dumps on these
True but they have no overhead so it's easy to give more. Big box brands spend more in all directions. It's not apples to apples when comparing
@@WINDINGCROWNS cool as a consumer no one cares about overhead... Seiko charges you more for much less. San Martin makes a better watch than Seiko period. So if you care about Seiko's overhead and want to pay $600 for a mineral crystal super thick caller GMT go for it...or by San Martin or a micro brand.
@@bobbybodybagz I like name brands. I stopped buying AliExpress
@@bobbybodybagz I didn't disagree with your statement. I just mentioned WHY it's possible for San Martin to dump on Seiko. They spend less than Seiko. I like San Martin too. Yes they give you more bang for your buck. I had my microbrands phase. No value retention. So I don't buy many of them for my personal collection. I don't need a hundred value watches.
It's still a seiko that's the problem.
