I've always been a big fan of them since I first heard their music in 1979, but for some reason, ever since I lost my job in February 2024, I keep playing the Mutiny Up My Sleeve album over and over..... I'm stuck in a Max Webster vortex. I can't get enough.
Head on over to my all Max channel - you'll be busy there for weeks ! Sorry to hear about your job. But in such times, music cures all. www.youtube.com/@MaxWebsterArchive
That girl's fist pump at 3:33. LOL. Party on Garth. Party on Wayne. If im not mistaken part of who Mike Meyers was writing about was Max Webster. What a great band. Really appreciating their sound much more now. I believe its Keyboardist Terry Watkinson who sings on 'Let Go The Line'? Such a great voice.
@@bobwegner I cant really other than Ive heard Meyers describe the Wayne's World thing as his experience growing up in Scarborough in the late 70's, observing his older brothers friends and his own adventures going to the 'Gasworks' seeing local bands. Mike himself was more of a punk fan who was waiting for 'The Sex Pistols', ' The Clash' to come into Toronto. In the meantime he saw all the bigger local rock acts and made a parody character which he started doing as bits on Muchmusic in the mid to late eighties. The guys he was portraying loved Triumph, Rush, Zeppelin, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Max Webster. Max Webster was just one band he cited as being accesible and were possible to meet in person or had a Toronto connection. On SNL it became Aerosmith and In the movie it became Alice Cooper.
Great find! I had the pleasure of seeing Max many times both a few years before and after this performance. Always a great show...especially Gary ripping it up at the end of Hangover.
I remember them lypsynching this and how dumb it looked. It wasn't their choice and since they can perform it live quite well then they should have been given the opportunity

Brilliant stuff Bob!
This makes me wonder where the time has gone, seems like last week I saw them in Owen Sound.
Kitchener Ontario remembers it well!
HIGH CLASS
Man...that was amazing!!!!
Haven't heard this in 40 years!!!
The more distorted it is, the better it is.
Best I've heard Terry sing LGTL live! Way to go Terry!
finally really live, all others are follow along
This is awesome! I saw this when it aired live on TV. Thank you for posting.
To me, this was the best Max lineup.
I wonder whatever happened to Reiner Schwartz. He was one of the best Toronto radio DJs back in the day.

Yep, that's Terry on lead vox.
Can you elaborate on the Wayne's World connection to Max?

@@finnibertlunchiken7792 thanks for the insight - that all makes a lot of sense.

Lucky you. Where and when did you see them?
Thornlea Secondary School in 1975/76 and CNE Stadium in 1978 (opening for Brand X and Genesis).
@@ShakingTwoTrees2012 that brand x genesis show has to rank as a perfect line up with Max opening , very cool
Awesome! Thanks for digging this up & posting it on YT. Brings back great memories! :)
My Dad directed that show.
WOW! Awesome! Lucky YOU!!!!
SERIOUSLY? WOW!!!!! I am so FRIGGING HAPPY right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Lest We Forget, Thanks
Saw Kim and Terry, 'Let go the Line" back in the day prior to the "Block head" album. Always a great night.,
before he led an expedition into the misty mountains, gandalf paid his way through hogwarts as lead singer of a canadian rock band.
This version of Paradise Skies sounds tougher and could have fitted on the Universal Juveniles Album.
Favorite Max Webster track.
Internet GOLD Bobster!!
WOW!!
79? I've seen clearer footage of a Bach gig.
You're welcome to seek out a better copy then. Surely one must be out there.

I was at that show and nobody lip synced. It's easy to tell by looking at the video and listening to the live variations of the studio recordings.
hmmm musta been a different show they aint lippin anything here man
