  • My Lubitel 166b shutter stopped working one day and I thought all it needed was a simple CLA.. Well I tore down the entire shutter and even cleaned the blades to realize I had a broken spring in the shutter unit. I'll be replacing this shutter with a spare one from other body sometime.
Hopefully this teardown helps someone with a shutter that needs a CLA or for general information.
Shot on my disgraced Sony Xperia 1 iii while my 1DX II was being serviced.

I also would be keen to see how the circlip/retaining ring is reinstalled without damaging the lens. I have not had good luck with these.

I typically apply some scotch tape in the center of the lens to prevent scratches when putting it back. Once the clip is put back then the tape can be removed hopefully preserving the lens

Please how do you remove the black plastic toothed lens cover? (It' missing between 1:09 - 1:14)

You spin it off counter clockwise and it comes off.

Which ring? Focus ring on the viewfinder or photo taking lens?

@@AleksUsovich @AleksUsovich i don't know how to say. To remove the lenses, you must remove the locking rings (3:40). But it's really tricky to put them back on afterwards without risking scratching the lenses.

Use a piece of scotch tape in the center of the lens when putting the c clip back in. That will prevent scratches in the middle of the lens and use tough plastic trim tools like for plastic trim pieces on cars for putting the clip in which will not scratch the glass.
