    Read up on the background of the devs who made this. It's so nutty how even something like this came out of Estonia. Made with literally no money whatsoever as well, a small team of 25 people who had never made a game before, failed on previous projects. Lead designer mentioned in an interview (gameanalytics) it was "make this game or become a penniless bum on the street" for him. Lead VO director is the singer from the british djent metal band SikTh. Everything about the creation of this screams "wtf" hahaha.

      I think it's cool how the game takes the cliche and just ups it to another level, where it just becomes ridiculous which in turn coincides perfectly with the tone and the story this game goes for.

    • @christopherlowery3797
      @christopherlowery3797 4 года назад +12

      Allan Kaliel the purpose is so that the player can learn what they call their currency, & how it’s measured. Even if it is a trope, I feel like this is one of the more clever ways to integrate it into a story. Even asking questions about things I already know (like politics) yields interesting answers, as things are much different in this game world.

      Disco Elysium is a table top RPG without the combat that's usually associated with the genre. Combat comes in the form of an interactive novel instead of hacking away at an enemy's health bar like you would in a traditional RPG. It's very similar to Planescape Torment, if you've ever played it!

    I bought the game today without watching this review, and 40 minutes in I'm absolutely in love.
    When do we gamers get to see the unsettling nature of H.P Lovecraft's unnerving writings, the absolute craziness of a Malkavian in Vampire, the intrinsic attention to detail as in Planescape Torment, and the morally ambiguous and offensive Fallout 2 into one?
    Sorry, I just really like it so far.

    I’ve been watching your video reviews here in the uk for a while and am now subscribed. Your writing is engaging, informative, witty and a real pleasure to listen to. It shows the amount of work you no doubt put into the writing of each one. Keep up the good work that fellow!

    Seems like you normally play pc titles but I’d really like a short “is it a good port” type of review for Baldur’s Gate on console. I want to get it but I’ve seen how bad console ports can be control-wise.

    Wasn't on my radar, but now it is. Sinking City and now this. Feels like detective RPG is starting to turn into something of a new sub genre, and I would love more of this clue finding and multi ending type games with well written mystery. I will be buying this now. Thanks ACG!

    One problem ==> Game-stopping bugs / glitches + the save system is really weird / wonky:.
    Start of day 2. Get out of bed & go downstairs. Try to talk to Kim, but nothing happens. I can talk to others, but can't get out of the place, as the front door isn't clickable.
    Reload. Get out of bed & go downstairs. This time, trying to talk to Kim or anyone else does nothing. Still can't get out of the place, as the front door isn't clickable.
    Reload. After this, I can only click on 3 places and then, I'm totally stuck & can't click on anything. And I do mean literally anything as "mirror + door (go out) + door (get back in)" = Now I'm stuck in my room.
    = How the hell can it get worse and even worse, when I reload???.
