But if you lookin' for me I'll be on the block With my thang cocked, possibly sitting on a drop now. Because I'm a rider. Oh, yes, a Jedi survivor. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Would you ever be willing to do how powerful video on Quinlan Vos? Also, what is your opinion on the legends counterparts of a lot of characters? Personally, I really do like legends and it will always have my heart, but Canon has been impressing me lately, though I just ignore the sequels (it’s my personal opinion, and it’s nothing wrong with the actors themselves I just find the writing atrocious as well as the story presentation).
When the Ninth Sister appeared as the first boss and how Cal beat her rather easily~ i really liked that taking a enemy from the first game Cal barely was able to escape from and defeat for the time being was perfect to show just how much stronger he has gotten over the years!
It also explains why there isn't a bigger inquisitor presence in the game. Cal just wouldn't have an issue fighting them. It also sets the stage for the antagonists in this game. "If Cal can beat the Inquisitors this easily, then who's the threat going to be?" "Why a renowned High Republic Jedi turned to the Dark Side and his lackey that took several other Jedi of the era to take down of course."
@@Kjf365 yes, he is low master to be honest probably nihil is his nxt stop and other kind of force users... he might meet some random inquisitor like theres 2 unacounted for and maybe a fallen jedi.
I do want to add in, when Cal uses the dark side his force powers were especially enhanced. Being able to send force resistant enemies like Purge Troopers flying, crushing security droids with just one hand, as well as bringing Dark Troopers down to their knees. I don’t know how impressive this is compared to other Jedi Knights in the universe but for Cal’s growth himself, all of those feats are pretty crazy.
When I pulled a big ass droid towards me I expected it'd just let me wail on it. But when it then proceeded to be crushed into a ball I felt a power I havent felt since force Unleashed
@@MAJIMAXKIRYU69 If you use the force with it, it's pretty insane. You can push away enemies HARD and elite enemies get thrown like baseball. If you pull them in you force choke them I think and if you force pull robots they gets crushed. You can also kill slam enemies too.
@@mrplayfulshade THANK YOU for telling me this I’ve always wanted to force choke in a Star Wars game currently on ng+ but now I can feel even more like Vader with the choke and the red lightsaber
I think Cal is on the same trajectory as Obi-Wan. In both canon and legends. Obi-Wan struggled with his Jedi stuff, barely passing the trials to become a Padawan, and had to work his ass off to get to where he was by Phantom Menace. He became such a powerful jedi from honing his skill and experience, so much so he was the first person in centuries to take on a sith and win, before even being a jedi knight. I think Cal is similar, he had to work hard just to bring himself to where he was before the purge, then build it up through experience, to the point where he's one of the few who can take on purge troopers like they're idiot separatist droids, and make a hell of challenge for even the best inquisitors. That's what I like about Cal, as well as Kenobi. They aren't freight-trains in the force but worked to be powerful.
I agree with the trajectories but Obi-Wan is absolutely levels above Cal. He defeats Grevious, Maul and Anakin and later Vader. Not many if any Jedi's have feats like him
@@mattj1829 Obi-Wan was 25 when he dueled Maul and 38 when he defeated Anakin. Cal survived peak Vader at age of 18, and he is 23 at Survivor's timeline and already killing off inquisitors, fallen jedies, semi-immortal dude like Ravis, not to mention numerous imperial bases and dangerous wildlife, so it's not so clear. I think 50 year old Cal would be equal to 50 year old Obi-Wan.
@@tj3603 Surviving Vader by running (can't blame him) he posed absolutely no threat to him. The inquisitors are renowned for being barely above a decent padawan level. Ravis is a great shout to be honest, that's impressive but none of them scale to even Grevious never mind Anakin, Maul and Vader. He'll never be Obi's level but that's not exactly an insult, very few jedi are. I like Cal but he's probably a rung below them, he'll never be able to beat a peak Vader like Obi did.
if we compare obi and cal at the same age... in terms of feats cal is stronger. as for him reaching obi's lvl... I don't think he'll reach obi's power traditional way. I think cal's gonna toe the line between light and dark and create his own way... windu sort of did it with vaapad but stuck with jedi customs and tradition... I think cal would resort to doing something like what malicos did but never fall.
@@mattj1829 not so sure about that. All duels between Vader and Obi-Wan always muddled with their complicated relationships, it's never certain question of sheer power. I think we can all agree Anakin is stronger than any jedi or sith ever lived and may be bested in honest duel only by his own son. Maybe. If Luke really meant it. Maul was beaten by several people, including Asoka and certain band of pirates without any force powers, so he may be really challenging boss, but not exactly unbeatable. Not to mention Cal have a lot of practice killing zabrax on Dathomir. As for the Grievous, I think he is comparable to Ravis. They both freaks of nature with extensive military background, replaceable limbs and a lot of experience dueling jedi.
Cal is a beast in Survivor. Facing a High Republic Jedi knight is not somethint any other Jedi has had to face as of late. His duelling skill is insane with a huge range of versatility. His dark side rampage is super crazy too, even without it he has a hell of a lot of force abilities. He's definitely my favourite jedi.
@@polketex5043 is that relevant? Just because you loose doesn’t mean you’re worse. I doubt cal is 100% equal to Dagen, but he likely is close enough. Maybe story wise, he made a slight mistake that screwed him over. Also, he didn’t just force hallucinate him, he performed a counter force hallucination. Apparently, Dagen was one of the strongest mind manipulators of his time, breaking even the strongest minded people. Yet cal counter Hallucinated his attempted hallucination/mind manipulation. That’s certainly a massive feat. I might be wrong though.
When you go back through in the post-game, there are force echo points in the major encounter rooms that emphasize just how savage and terrifying Cal was in that rampage.
To add on to everyone's points, even Rayvis, who was known to be so strong that it took so many Jedi to put him down and capture him, acknowledged that Cal could most definitely be equal to Dagan.
@@mykellederickpalad7883 I wouldn’t say significant, but definitely outclassed regardless. Dagen is himself very versatile in saber styles and can manipulate lightsabers in more creative and powerful ways. Cal has mastered more lightsaber forms, but he still is worse than Dagen in saber combat from what I know.
I reckon the Jedi Order probably would have frowned upon his saber as it is now. They already kinda took issue with saber staffs. A saber that can be adjusted on the fly to the degree that Cal's can? I doubt they'd like that. Who cares though, that shit is awesome.
It's worth noting Dagan is actually a Jedi Master, or at least was by the time the Nihil invaded Tanalorr. Yes, Santari Khri does call him "renowned Jedi Knight Dagan Gera," but a force echo on Tanalorr set during the Nihil invasion has Oppo Rancisis call him "Master Gera." Now, while Anakin was never made a Master but was called a Master by Sors Bandeam (the youngling) in ROTS, it's worth noting he was both on the Council and the person in question was a youngling. Oppo Rancisis by comparison is himself a member of the Jedi Council, and I *highly* doubt he would call Dagan "Master Gera" unless he was actually a Master. This just serves to make Cal more impressive, though. Even if he did need Bode's help to put Dagan down near the end, he was able to best a High Republic Dark Jedi Master who was at his full power.
People also call Anakin “Master Skywalker” all the time; although, you are correct, I am assuming he’s a knight. I’m comparing Dagan to other masters, regardless. So, it works out. Great input! Thanks for commenting.
Also, grammatically, "Master" is a form of address. It's possible that he's just being called it in the same way you would call him "Mister Gera". I don't know his exact age, but he was clearly under 30, which is when you would refer to someone as "Master" instead of "Mister".
It's typical of younger or lower ranking jedi to refer to those above them as "master" it was just a thing of respecting their rank, still an impressive feat on Cals part regardless
@@1KQ_ The problem is that Oppo Rancisis is both a Master and a Council member. Dagan isn't above him in any way, so it wouldn't really make sense for Oppo to call him a Master if he isn't actually holding the rank of Jedi Master. Anakin got called Master a few times, but that was mainly by Ahsoka (his Padawan) and by Sors Bandeam (a youngling), so I don't think that's quite comparable to a Council member calling Dagan a Master.
@@realmileshall Well, Master is also a rank in the Jedi Order. Typically you only call a Jedi "Master" under three conditions: 1) You're their Padawan (see: Ahsoka, Anakin was her master and she therefore called him Master, but Anakin didn't hold the rank of Master) 2) They hold the rank of Master (see: someone saying "Master Yoda" or "Master Windu," etc) 3) You're a youngling (see: Sors Bandeam was a youngling and called Anakin "Master Skywalker," albeit Anakin was also a Council member at the time) Point being, Oppo Rancisis, being a Jedi Council member, has no real reason to call Dagan "Master Gera" unless he actually holds the rank of Master.
Agreed, when you're a playable character the feats just come rolling in. It's refreshing to play as someone who isn't the top of the verse(Though he is very strong).
I think becuase Cal was a scrapper for so many years, he learned to be extremely resourceful; and it shows, because he's able to adapt his lightsaber in an instant after finding something new, like he did with the cross-guard. Thats something no other jedi I've heard of has, and his force powers aren't lacking either.
Something I think is going to go very overlooked is that Cal is proficient in all forms of lightsaber combat. All Jedi are trained and dual combat, single Saber combat and even double saber combat, but the fact that he's so easily able to master each one and use them proficiently and as his main style, is absolutely astounding. Obviously he's probably not the best at each of the styles that he's acquired, but balanced wise, he probably has the most versatility out of any Jedi ever, and that may be a stretch, but I genuinely believe it. I guess this is mostly due in part to the fact that his lightsaber so easily malleable and he's able to switch Styles mid combat whenever he pleases, rather than going into combat with only one style in mind. Most Jedi would have to choose what sort of saber they going to use going in, while cow can decide mid-fight if he'd rather use to sabres, a single, a cross blade, or a double side. Very dangerous
his main form is form 6 which is niman so he could adjust easily but in the game he looks like he had not just mastered the 6th form. and yes mastery is not the end there's like tiers above that like how kenobi's mastery lvl of soresu is not normal and ahsoka's attaru is. Cal probably hasn't just mastered the 6th form with all the feats he was doing in single blade and double blade he has probably mastered attaru too with high degree of accomplishment in soresu. as for fifth form I don't know he has some good heavy blows and so on... just not that sure... but probably the crossguard, but he was doing some sort of makashi in blasterstance but looked clumsy. so he is probably one of the most talented in the lightsaber of his generation which makes sense cuz he wins and keeps up most of his fights just because of his lightsaber combat ability. all in all he knows form 1 - 6. he might go master all 6. if he lives long enough. I'd say in the next game he might master one more. probably soresu or 5th form. then heighten his mastery of 6th form and fourth form. aside from that he might be able to stack force on himself to make himself stronger... cal adapts whatever he sees into himself.
One really cool feat of his was when he deflected a warning shot at Caij Vanda. The fact that he could've taken her out with a single stroke of his blade like that is really impressive
It’s the lines afterwards. Caij: “Little bit off target though…” Cal: “No…it wasn’t.” Like if he wanted to he could’ve ended her then but didn’t, it was such a cold line.
@@chazo1367 such a great portrayal of a Jedi. Merciful, patient, values sentient life, but still an ice-cold warrior who is able to kill you at any moment.
@B463L I think that's a bit of a mischaracterization of Jedi. They aren't "ice-cold killers," they are just kind and merciful. They know they could just kill you in an instant, but they choose not to. The big difference between Sith and Jedi. It's a word choice/order difference, but it makes a large impact on the point.
Cal and Ezra are two characters I cannot wait to see more from. Both of them have insane potential. They've both pulled off things that most other Jedi could not dream of with very limited training. Although Cal definitely had more to work with than Ezra.
Honestly it’s the limited training that lets them do those things. Jedi who came up during the empire didn’t have dogma to limit their view of the force.
@@butterflymage5623that’s perfectly stated, really the prophesy of anakin (Vader) bringing back balance to the force is the reset of the Jedi order and the rise of the sith empire, which eventually is taken down and set to a blank slate by Luke, ( a Jedi whom is not afraid to use his emotions and accepts and loves his father despite even Vader thinking he was irredeemable) Obi wan, yoda, and all the other Jedi stood against forming attachment or letting emotions sway them, Then the sith consumed with anger and hatred were on the other end of the spectrum, both Jedi and sith were too far left, and too far right (not politics just an analogy) The Grey jedi (Luke, Leia, Ezra, Cal, Ahsoka) are the product of restoring balance and setting the universe right.
Cal became a force to be reckoned with in large part because of his willingness to bend the rules, his ingenuity. Stuff like always having bd around who is capable and extremely useful in fights, willing to use a blastsr, essentially uses a unique trick lightsaber that allows for completely unique dueling that no one expects or has trained any counter for. Cal is my favorite Jedi full stop. He is by far the most relatable. Hes the spiderman of star wars.
I think he would be in between, he has renounced the Jedi ways, he draws from the dark side and uses it against the Empire, (well till now). Merrin is the only person keeping him from falling to the dark side.
He's going to use both sides, def a grey jedi he fit's that role very well, he's giving someone a second chance at the very first battle, but he won't hold back from killing you if you don't take it he won't play any games just how most Jedi's do.
The dark side boost is strong enough that people that looked sort of like a blur are essentially immobilized from his view, that’s how much stronger and faster he gets, honestly I love that from the game, it is a great visual showcase of how powerful even slightly dipping into the dark side is.
Fantastic video mate. I loved getting to see the love for Cal. I was kinda sad to see him be sort of nerfed in Battle Scars but I am really glad to see the glow up he had in this game same with Cere who is crazy stronger now. Also the inclusion of the High Republic in Dagan Gera was awesome. I can’t wait to see what you guys cook up next.
@@superjlk_9538 at first I didn't know then I got the excerpt, watched the interview with starwars explained, spoke to people who read the book on comment sections and watched reviews then I realized just how bad the book was and where Sam Maggs priorities lied. That book was disgusting and I decided not to buy it. Character assassination of both Cal and Merrin.
In the next game, I want to be able to play Merrin at least part of the game. Like they did with Cere in _Jedi Survivor,_ or, even better, like they did with Ciri in _The Witcher 3._
Regarding his stances I think it would be nice to know if he actually has to modify his lightsaber every so often or if he has all 5 built in at the same time. Because if all are in there and completly fine he probably is one of the most confusing lightsaber combatant for anyone trained to fight jedis. Just imagine pulling up to a jedi in "hiding", you look him up and he carries a blaster probably to look more authentic as a non jedi and a lightsaber with a really long hilt. When you attack he uses a single blade lightsaber, but mid fight he turns on the otherside. No worries you think just a change in slight tactics but shortly after he just splits the lightsaber in two and attacks with them. He now rotates between these three forms until when he is in single blade mode he grabs his waist and shoots your abdomen. Now really strugling you go for a last swing with your own saber but they clash. Desperately you think why dont I just slide down and cut his hand off. But before being able to do that a crossguards block even that attack to which this jedi reacts and decapitates you. As skilled as the person fighting Cal is he will probably always get atleast one hit in.
After looking at the previews in the lightsaber customization, the only one he would really have to modify on the fly is for crossguard, and even then it would be pretty fast. He could have the actually crossguard emitter attached at all times, the two saber hilts would then connect as they do for the saber staff, and then the emitter for the secondary blade can be taken off and replaced with the pommel for the crossguard stance. Maybe not feasible in the middle of a fight, would require an opening or a distraction.
That crossguard issue could be fixed in the future with a replacement pommel which doubles as an adapter to the second saber which can funnel energy into the first saber to boost its length and power (requiring the vents).
I think in terms of powers he actually is on edge of becoming Jedi Master, he still may lack knowledge and wisdom to be one though. As I see it, Masters get their badge not only because they can lift mountains with their mind, but because they can lead and teach, and pass judgments according to the will of the Force. Suppose he had to cover it in next game, since they set him up to be a mentor to Kata.
In Fallen Order he started out as Padawan and by the end tipping into Jedi Knight In Survivor he started as Knight and by the end gaining power and wisdom and tipping into Master rank. The third game we could see something like Anakin and Ahsoka, where Anakin is still a Knight but has an apperentice. And by the end Cal could very well be a full fledge Jedi Master.
@@redace4821 Back when the Jedi Order was still functioning, you became a jedi Knight from a Padawan, after you passed the Jedi Trials. @@nnnmmmable Dagan is confirmed to be a Jedi Master from the High Republic days, which is when the Jedi were the most powerful. The fact Rayvis, who is from a race of some of the strongest and hardest to kill warriors, considers Cal a match to Dagan, means Cal has reached that point. The reason we know Dagan is a Jedi Master is through a force echo of a high council member who is also a Jedi Master referring to him as such btw

Cal's final fight with Dagan is kind of reflects his fight with Malicos. Sure, in both instances he had help, but Cal was doing all the heavy lifting in each fight. (Hell, I completely forgot Bode was there until the cutscenes.) What matters is that both Malicos and Dagan were more or less masters and were likely already damn strong BEFORE they turned to the Dark Side. As stated in game and in this video, Dagan was one of the Order's more elite Knights during the High Republic era where the Jedi were considered to be at at their strongest. And Cal was not only keeping up with him, but even managed to pull an uno reverse card on Dagan's trump card AFTER Dagan's turn to the Dark Side with its power boost. To me, that speaks volumes about what kind of Jedi Cal really is because that's before even Cal himself starts tapping into the Dark Side. The man's a beast and if his rate of growth is anything to go by, he's going to become absolute nightmare fuel for just about anyone who isn't Vader. So when my Dad (we are both big into Star Wars but he's a little behind me on anything outside of the movies and shows) asked me who was Cal Kestis while we were watching Ahsoka together I said he was basically the Jedi equivalent to John Wick.
Not really. Dagan lost one arm a huge disadvantage in a duel . He’s able to make a phantom limb but that takes concentration and focus using the force. Also Cal had help from Bode during the fight which while not a ton is something. All those factors combined Id say he’s weaker . And him being pushed to the dark side and his own anger made him far more susceptible to force illusions and acting rashly which cost him. And even after Cal stabbed him he choices Cal. I think you forgot about one significant detail. We can actually take notice of the fact that Cere is much more powerful than Cal. This reveals itself in several different ways, such as Cere's ability to one-shot most imperials, as well as her ability to use force heal instead of healing stims. While it might come as a surprise, this perfectly shows the power of an actual Jedi master who had completed the full jedi training before the taking up the fight with the Empire.
Most of the masters in Star Wars are below the best Knights in power/skill. You don’t need to be incredibly strong to become a master. Very little known/acknowledged fact in the fandom.
@@KeyIssues if i remeber correctly, the rank of master was granted to jedi who successfully trained a padawan, not the ones who were stronger fighters.
@@gabrielcarrasco9078 True. But Kanan, who was still technically a Padawan at the time, managed to best him. That puts Kanan above Jocasta as well. Which just goes to show how irrelevant the rank of master is when it comes to power scaling.
I think Cal’s greatest strength is definitely his dueling. He’s able to keep up with opponents who are seemingly way out of his league, such as malicos and Dagan, and his versatility in different lightsaber stances make him a very formidable duelist. When Cal fought malicos, he was putting a fair amount of pressure on him until malicos gripped him with the force, which I think is where Cal falls short. He’s a skilled enough duelist to keep up with some of the best, but struggles to resist his opponent’s force powers at times.
If jedi 3 comes… Cal will have to face the darkside as they mentioned it in the end of jedi survivor. I hope when he does he finds out that he has yellow force lightning with a new lightsaber „Spear lightsaber stance“ aka „pike“, similar to the old republic once’s yet again
@@XSL17XThose Inquisitor blades are cancer.😅 One of the few things I enjoyed about the Obi-Wan series.. Was when Vader pointed out how that silly spin motor thing does nothing to someone with real power.
I think Cal is up there with the best Jedi and as he makes sure to make full use of his potential (unlike many other Jedi), I wouldn't be surprised if he got up to the ranks of the strongest Jedi (and force users in general) in the future, not only because of his strengh and constant refinement of his abilities in the force but also because of his wide versatility in other areas, he'll widen even further over time, as well as all the tools and gadgets he has in his repertoire.
I fear for Cal because his power won't go ignored for too much longer. Eventually Darth Vader will take notice and make it a top priority to defeat him.
If he dies to Vader then that would be the dumbest thing they could do. We know he can't kill Vader for obvious reasons so he'd just become another random jedi killed by Vader.
@@demonintellect9834 it wouldn’t necessarily be dumb. You can have a tragic hero. I could only imagine how traumatic they could pull it off of proper storytelling beats. His death doesn’t have to be pointless either. I could’ve been a sacrifice to keep his loved ones safe.
@@demonintellect9834 In a universe and era this brutal on the Jedi, just what kind of death do you think would not be "cliche." There are only so many ways to die. And _everyone_ dies. The heroic sacrifice makes by far the most sense, particularly for a hero and particularly for a Jedi and particularly in this era.
Its worth noticing that "rage mode" cal utilizes the same moveset as cere, and he can brute force in a similar way too. i wonder if that is the game saying in this mode Cal is at least average jedi master level...
jedi master is actually a downgrade to cal. Master often in star wars refers exclusively to knowledge and experience. It also require you to A) Be a Padawan whom gets promoted to Jedi Knight and B) As a Jedi Knight you must train a Padawan to Knighting in which you can now be promoted to the rank of master. In lore Jedi Knights are consistently seen as the greater warriors of the Jedi and masters are the knowledge holders. so the high skilled Knights are actually stronger most often (anakin, starkiller, ahsoka)
Important tid bit, the one time Cal canonically taps into the dark side against Bode he immediately overpowers him with seemingly little effort, despite Bode ALSO being amped. Like Bode had finally pissed Cal off to the point Cal had a moment where he thought "okay, that's enough." Which makes sense when you remember Cal does that almost at the end of Bode's health bar.
never have I seen a Star Wars channel so casually and passionately talk about High Republic Jedi before. I love this! Consider me a fan and subscriber now :)

I think that’s just a nerf going from Legends to Canon. They changed it so that if you struck the central nervous system, Gendai can die. I was really expecting a second phase where you have to melt him in a reactor or something.
@@superjlk_9538 it doesn’t make sense that way. If a being like Durge or Rayvis was that powerful then the race could just come out and stomp the empire entirely. Like Vader wouldn’t be able to fight a horde of nearly indestructible beings who can regenerate like no one’s business.
The best way to quantify his dark side power is with the Cere gameplay section where she's pulling the same gameplay feats at all times. It'd serve as a highball that essentially sets him on level with the massively stronger than last game Cere that goes toe to toe with and outright damages and hobbles Vader himself. It puts Cal in a tier with Rebels Ahsoka and Maul. Highball for sure but it's an interesting comparison I noticed in the gameplay that gives a hint at where he is.

We also have to remember that Being a "Jedi master" is something like a promotion that the council has to approve. So without the order itself any knight who takes their time like Cal has will obviously reach and surpass masters.
Not to mention it seems very possible he will augment his powers with Dathomir Magicks. He already uses a charm to phase through some barriers. Also let’s not forget Cere was able to go toe to toe with Vader and not only injured him but was very close, inches from inflicting a potentially fatal blow. Sure it is clear in game Cere is a a bit more powerful that Cal but he did train under her and is years younger. Now that he is at Tanalorr, a place very strong in both the light and the dark side. He probably not only will be able to dómine with Cere but train with a very powerful Nightsister. I’d say he is on track to be one of the most powerful Jedi ever, but to be fair, it’d be in large part his tapping into the dark side and other “forbidden/looked down upon” styles such as using Magicks and a blaster. Maybe they could write his story to go post episode 9 as Tanalorr being within a Nebula/anomaly, time could be slowed or the powerful force presence could slow aging. How cool would it be if somehow the compasses were lost again leaving Tanalorr isolated with its residents and when Cal finally returns its when Rey is rebuilding the Order and Cal would be like a Yoda but with ancient knowledges of ancient force techniques of Dathomir and Zeffo (if he returns to that journey). He would be kind of like the Armourer of the Mandalorians in his leadership, being more mystical and priestly authority and not the leader per se. Anyway, he (along with most other characters) are way better than Rey and all would deserve more to help rebuild the order than her
I'd also like to add that Cal is pretty skilled at primarily utilizing the Force to augment his phyiscal prowess (lightsaber technique, parkour, etc.) His Force powers itself are impressive, but nowhere near the scale of Vader, Luke or any "traditionally trained" Jedi... Which is why he is very dangerous, becauses he's nothing like even the most seasoned Sith, Jedi or any sort of adversary Cal comes across. He uses the Force like a tool, rather than really letting the Force flow through him (in combat at least).
Cal Kestis is basically the DA2 Hawke of the Star Wars universe. He is a lowly Jedi with no special lineage who has become a major threat on the board simply by never giving up.
One thing's for sure, Cal has one of the highest body counts of a Jedi since the Old Republic wars with the Sith. He killed a ton of raiders and Stormtroopers. Clone Wars Jedi mostly killed droids. Not sure how many sentients were against the Jedi in the High Republic.
He's gotten powerful because he needs to be. He's a survivor and he's spent alot of time outside of the temple learning how the current world actually works. His mindset is what allows him to be strong IMO.
I think it’s worth giving him extra credit on his sheer resourcefulness. He’s a survivor first and foremost, and will find a way to continue to survive almost to uncanny limits beyond the force. His adaptability and sheer scrappiness is something that would push him a few levels even more for me.
I think in the next game cal will be way overpowered and possibly at his full potential, including him getting in touch with the dark side, that'll be badass to play
This game and cal kestis are the one who make me interested to star wars and deep dive to star wars world, back then im just watch them and not understand anything. I love gaming and i randomly watching youtuber gaming playing this i watch it and invested to the story. Cal is my favorite jedi ever.
I really want them to make the 3rd one, and see become even stronger. I feel like he is willing to use both light and dark side, but not lose himself thanks to support of Marrin and people around him, balancing both sides of the force could make him super strong
The Skywalkers and some others are sorcerers, tapping the force with a high potential and raw inherent capability and talent. Others like Cal and Obi Wan are more like wizards, through study and skill, they have mastered the force.
I would love to talk about Cal's future! He basically denounces the Jedi Order and its teachings by letting himself be with Merrin. He can tap into the darkside to gain strength and let his anger fuel him temporarily. I would love it so much if Cal became a Grey Jedi. I want him to obtain an understanding that while the darkside can corrupt and whither you, so can the light side! The Jedi of The High Republic became passive, philosophical, and grand standing in my opinion, making their self perceived greater power moot. They aren't as obviously evil/bad or corrupted as someone like palpatine, but I believe depending solely on one side of the force is foolish. To be one with, and at balance with the force, you need to use both sides. It's like if you were passing through a massive ocean, and simply because one half was very stormy and full of sharks, you call it evil! When really it is all one ocean. To use the Darkside, in moderation, along with the lightside is true balance. This is what I hope Cal thinks about and understands in the next game. Would love your thoughts, love the video!
Wow i never actally thought about it but ahsoka really was still a Padawon her entire run on clone wars and even then i would consider her stronger than a lot of the other masters in the council at the time. Thats crazy
Great video! I will say, after completing the game, I’m not 100% sure that Cal and Dagan were equals by the time they fought. After all, Cal required assistance from Bode and BD-1 to be able to defeat him. Dagan still nearly able to win after being stabbed and lifting Bode and Cal up with the force, with Bode having to shoot his back before Cal landed the finishing blow. They’re still obviously on comparable levels though at the very least given Rayvis’ comments and Cal still being able to fight against him at all, but it’s worth noting imo. This is also before Cal’s Dark Side Boost (which notably is the same moveset as Cere’s, making me feel the two are comparable) however, so I’d say by the end of the game they’re at the very least equals.
Cal is easily, the most interesting Jedi in the entire Star Wars franchise. And yes, he’s more interesting than Luke Skywalker or Anakin. He’s an underdog, someone who had to earn everything in his skill set and survivor status. He’s a relatable character that shows true emotions and character growth. It’s a true shame that Disney since taking over Star Wars, hasn’t been able to touch a candle and storytelling that these two games do.
I hope that in the third Jedi game we'll get closer to Force Unleashed levels of crazy force powers and stakes. Maybe not quite at the same absurd level, but certainly leaning more towards bigger enemies, larger enemy clusters, and stronger force powers.
I'd place him on High Jedi Knight, bordering on Master, but not quite there yet. I use the fact that he was able to contend with people such as Dagan and Malicos, but he just wasn't there yet in terms of knowledge and power in the force. He's close and he'll probably be there in the next instalment, but I don't seem at the peak of the mountain yet, more like he has one more climb to make before reaching it.
In the start of the game Cal was a mid Jedi Knight. In the late game when he unleash his dark side probebly on Jedi Master level and after when he can controll his feelings again become a High Jedi Knight in the endgame....
@Ghøst mid knight is more where the majority of the inquisitors are, that's why I'd place him at High Knight. Especially with his feats and abilities. I'm going on a limb and saying Cal might actually reach council level. A recurring theme in the series is how powerless Cal truly is when confronted by the true power of the empire (the Sith). So I think his arc is going to end with him actually giving Vader a fight.
I think it’s safe to say at this point Cal is a special character, he’s not just an average Jedi. I could only imagine how powerful he would be if Jaro Tapal training him fully and order 66 never happened.
I would say he would probably be weaker. Experience builds power in a way training never can. The experience Cal has had has molded him into the Jedi he is now
@@goldenghost2001 I don't know about that, considering that you can learn a lot from others while still learn as you go on your own. The more knowledge you have, the more powerful you become, only limiting you to the midichlorian you have.
I love how Cal can mindtrick Purge Troopers who are designed to hunt down Jedi but not the Hammer bros in the raider faction on Koboh even when fully upgraded. Gonna just assume they all wear a Star Wars version of Magneto's helmet. Afterall, Disney owns Marvel and at the end of the day the greatest Sith Lord is The Mouse.

I’m pretty sure there’s gonna be a third game, so I’m really excited about that. If he can throw around strong imperial troops with ease while having semi control of the dark side, imagine his strength at the end of the trilogy when he masters both the dark side and that light side.
Cal is one of the best new characters in the lexicon of lore. From his upbringing to how we see him in Survivor. He's a fantastic character and even better Jedi.

I don’t know how impressive this is compared to other Jedi Knights in the universe but for Cal’s growth himself, all of those feats are pretty crazy.

Cal killing an inquisitor after saying “it’s time to set you free” is frikn EPIC
@@TeenWithACarrotIDK Cal most likely on par or stronger than Dagan in the force but I think he's outclassed in saber combat by a significant amount.
It's not entirely relevant, but I personally think Cal has the coolest, and probably "factually" the best saber just because of how malleable it is.
Most definitely the coolest lightsaber maybe ever
I reckon the Jedi Order probably would have frowned upon his saber as it is now. They already kinda took issue with saber staffs. A saber that can be adjusted on the fly to the degree that Cal's can? I doubt they'd like that. Who cares though, that shit is awesome.

It's worth noting Dagan is actually a Jedi Master, or at least was by the time the Nihil invaded Tanalorr. Yes, Santari Khri does call him "renowned Jedi Knight Dagan Gera," but a force echo on Tanalorr set during the Nihil invasion has Oppo Rancisis call him "Master Gera."
Now, while Anakin was never made a Master but was called a Master by Sors Bandeam (the youngling) in ROTS, it's worth noting he was both on the Council and the person in question was a youngling.
Typically you only call a Jedi "Master" under three conditions:
1) You're their Padawan (see: Ahsoka, Anakin was her master and she therefore called him Master, but Anakin didn't hold the rank of Master)
2) They hold the rank of Master (see: someone saying "Master Yoda" or "Master Windu," etc)
3) You're a youngling (see: Sors Bandeam was a youngling and called Anakin "Master Skywalker," albeit Anakin was also a Council member at the time)
Point being, Oppo Rancisis, being a Jedi Council member, has no real reason to call Dagan "Master Gera" unless he actually holds the rank of Master.

Yea he seems like the jack of all trades. Master of nothing. Above average in every form of lightsaber combat and force abilities.
I believe Cal is a strong force user but he isn't someone to be known when it comes to dueling skills
his main form is form 6 which is niman so he could adjust easily but in the game he looks like he had not just mastered the 6th form. and yes mastery is not the end there's like tiers above that like how kenobi's mastery lvl of soresu is not normal and ahsoka's attaru is.
Technically he cannot do all four in mid fight...Has to mediate...

@snappedsquire8479 I mean, we actually see him swap between stances while in game. It's not that difficult, just need a moment.
@@Kjf365 True, but realistically the change to crossguard would take a more than a single moment
In Fallen Order he started out as Padawan and by the end tipping into Jedi Knight
In Survivor he started as Knight and by the end gaining power and wisdom and tipping into Master rank.

(Hell, I completely forgot Bode was there until the cutscenes.)
What matters is that both Malicos and Dagan were more or less masters and were likely already damn strong BEFORE they turned to the Dark Side.
So when my Dad (we are both big into Star Wars but he's a little behind me on anything outside of the movies and shows) asked me who was Cal Kestis while we were watching Ahsoka together I said he was basically the Jedi equivalent to John Wick.
you forgot that Dagan is now also amped by the dark side in all his fights with Cal, meaning he is on an even higher level than he originally was.
If anything Dagan is weaker now than he was before

10:35 You’re not slick Cal don’t think I wasn’t gonna acknowledge that force blicky🔫
With the darkside he was strong enough to crush a K-2SO battle droid with relative ease.
There's Jedi master, but then there's Jedi MASTER, guess which category they're lol
Cal is powerful, but Cere is just on another playing field
I would not call Cal a Master, but an Experienced Jedi Knight. Which is a compliment
Most of the masters in Star Wars are below the best Knights in power/skill. You don’t need to be incredibly strong to become a master. Very little known/acknowledged fact in the fandom.
@@KeyIssues Facts. Jocasta Nu is a prime example. She was a master, but she got dogwalked by the Grand Inquisitor.

Dude this is an excellent video, thanks for including the sources where you got your information 👍🏻
Appreciate it!
Thanks for this. Cal is quickly becoming one of my favorite Jedi.
That or the double bladed spinning lightsaber that the inquisitors use but modified for cal

Cal is definitely much more proficient than previously depicted and I’m happy to see it.
One of the force echos actually refers to Dagen as a Jedi Master, meaning he got promoted to Master sometime after discovering Tanalor.
@@Faceplay2 So basically another random Jedi killed by Vader? Like I said. Heroic sacrifices are just as cliche.
That's probably what the next game will do and vader would probably mock cere's death to try and turn cal to the darkside completely.
@@demonintellect9834 In a universe and era this brutal on the Jedi, just what kind of death do you think would not be "cliche."
There are only so many ways to die. And _everyone_ dies.
A pointless death. An accident. A disease or old age. Being put down after turning to the dark side. A heroic sacrifice.
The thing is Cere is normally that op. So I think when Cal draws from the dark side he becomes insanely strong for a short period
jedi master is actually a downgrade to cal.
What I like about these games is that they use actual lore in the game , for example the ninth sister was meditating at 1:23 for those why don’t know both with and Jedi meditate at standsills like these to gain extra strength and energy
Cal has the ultimate power: he is the player character.

all im going to say is that council members died by a few clones shooting at them while cal can block and deflect mulptiple miniguns and gun mans while running and fighting multiple close range targets as well
In legends, it took Anakin launching Durge into a nearby Star to defeat him. The fact that Cal was able to defeat another Gen’Dai speaks volumes.
We need Cal Kestis in a movie, he would be such a badass character
He's down to play Cal in live action, but only if the story is right and he's not just standing in the background
Yo it'd be an insane fight to see Maul vs Cal

Anyway, he (along with most other characters) are way better than Rey and all would deserve more to help rebuild the order than her
I'd also like to add that Cal is pretty skilled at primarily utilizing the Force to augment his phyiscal prowess (lightsaber technique, parkour, etc.)
His Force powers itself are impressive, but nowhere near the scale of Vader, Luke or any "traditionally trained" Jedi...
Which is why he is very dangerous, becauses he's nothing like even the most seasoned Sith, Jedi or any sort of adversary Cal comes across.
He uses the Force like a tool, rather than really letting the Force flow through him (in combat at least).
That its time to set you free line was COLD 🥶
Cal Kestis is basically the DA2 Hawke of the Star Wars universe. He is a lowly Jedi with no special lineage who has become a major threat on the board simply by never giving up.
One thing's for sure, Cal has one of the highest body counts of a Jedi since the Old Republic wars with the Sith. He killed a ton of raiders and Stormtroopers. Clone Wars Jedi mostly killed droids. Not sure how many sentients were against the Jedi in the High Republic.

Funny to think about it, but Cal is to kids these days what Kyle Katarn was to us back in the day.
This game and cal kestis are the one who make me interested to star wars and deep dive to star wars world,
back then im just watch them and not understand anything.
Cal speaking like a true jedi is awesome !
"As the last remaining member of this council I grant myself the rank of jedi Master" 😂

I think Cal's power level in Survivor is probably just under Ahsoka from Rebels. He did get beaten by Dagan, but only managed to outsmart him to win. I think by the time the third game comes around, Cal will probably be on Kenobi level of skill.
He’s a ways away from Rebels Ahsoka still
A lot can happen every 5 years
Dagan at one point was considered a Master. On Tanalorr one of the force echos near the entrance to the temple reveals the Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis was on Tanalorr and a part of the Council.
In the echo Master Rancisis say’s “Master Gera we have to evacuate now” when the planet got invaded.
Back in fallen order people said ashoka would stomp cal but now i think he can go toe to toe or even defeat her
Defeat? No. Ahsoka is close to Vader. Cal ain't there yet.
@@redace4821 she is not close to Vader lmao
Stop this bullshit
@@redace4821she's not close. She lost the duel with Vader pushing her off the temple and she came back with a sneak attack (a strike she fail to deal without his attention being diverted). Ahsoka was on the back foot even with her training.
Let's look at that Cere did to and how close she actually and the state she left vader in before dying.
@@baki484 vader was toying with cere and his priority wasn't to kill her. not really comparable. ahsoka is relatively equal to cal and cere, all her feats are highballed
I gotta say that the backflip hand slice was clean.
I'd love to see how strong is cere, especially after the events in survivor. She seems quite strong
Well she had Vader on the ropes until he had to resort to a dirty hit. She also feels significantly stronger than Cal for the section you get to play as her.
I wonder if Cere became stronger in survivor compared to how strong she was while she was a Jedi Master
@@elektra8535 forsure Vader even acknowledges this in their fight
@@TransDrummer1312 I wouldn't really call it a dirty hit. She definitely gave Vader probably one of his toughest fights though especially since this series is supposed to be canon
@@majora919 i thought he was talking about their little fight he had with Cere and Cal in fallen order, where Cere was still conflicted with herself and was abusing the dark side to hold Vader on the ground. I don't think Anakin meet Cere before that encounter, maybe when she break from the Prison she was in
I hope Cal gets a chance to show up in a movie someday, such a talented actor.
Cal is going to be an absolute monster by the next game, likely on par with young vader
Probably just barely below an early vader. Both are still fodder anyways lmao
@@slattslattslatt bro really called Vader fodder💀
Best way to describe cal is at first in the beginning of the game is a promising jedi Knight entering levels of being a jedi master. The last 2 steps are council master level (obi wan, EP3 anakin and plo koon) and grandmaster level (yoda and mace windu) which i think we will see in the 3rd game if we get one. It's really nice not only to see this character we play grow strong but we ourselves grow w them

Yes I will!
