2024 is the redemption arc
It's super clear... time wasting with sitting around, chilling with influencers, dancing vid, eating vid... unfortunately this is western mentallity... Korean and Chinese teams would never allow something like this. They rather beat their players with woodsticks. There is only Caps who's really good on G2, the rest ist just under average for the worldstage. You need 2 people who lead and carry the team like Caps and Perkz back in the days, this might bring Micky to shine. BB unfortunately chokes on worldstage. Hans... cares more about looking cool instead of good gameplay at worlds.

我的母親今年發現三次的癌症，我一直陪伴她，她的痛苦讓我感到我很傷心和憤怒還有些失望，我S3開始遊玩英雄聯盟，這是我唯一最愛的遊戲。因為母親生病讓我好長時間沒有遊玩和關心MSI與世界大賽的到來，我一直困在很低落和沮喪，我甚至沒有心情看比賽轉播，但我還是關心世界大賽因為這是我最喜歡的遊戲，所以自己打開手機瞭解新的瑞士輪制度和賽程，直到我的英國朋友問我了”Hey Gracie, you are watching it alone?” Then he said “Let’s rooting for G2 together” 我想到了，我們都是熱愛G2的朋友，他甚至2019來台灣陪我看了MSI為G2加油，我知道很多事情或許不順利令人難過，但我不孤單只是我需要一點點的加油和陪伴，當我準備好我會振作起來，開開心心的生活～謝謝你們G2又讓我重拾那份感動和熱情，我真的很開心我每一場比賽轉播都能陪著你們一直到最後，還有很多一樣熱愛遊戲的朋友也陪伴著我一樣，我們也默默在你們身邊

L'équipe actuelle de G2 est mon équipe préférée, j'espère que tout le monde pourra rester dans G2, y compris les entraîneurs. J'espère aussi que Caps pourra gagner un championnat, j'ai suivi Caps depuis FNC jusqu'à soutenir ce petit elfe talentueux, il est vraiment mignon et intelligent. J'ai été honoré que le MSI ait eu lieu à Taiwan une année, j'ai donc pu voir le charisme et le talent de Caps par moi-même, et après cela, j'ai totalement aimé l'équipe G2.....
Parfois, ce ne sont pas les garçons qui sont mauvais, mais un peu de chance et d'opportunité et, bien sûr, votre travail acharné.
Ma mère a été atteinte d'un cancer à trois reprises cette année, j'ai été à ses côtés tout le temps, sa douleur me rend très triste, en colère et un peu déçu, j'ai commencé à jouer à League of Legends en S3, c'est mon seul jeu favori. À cause de la maladie de ma mère, je n'ai pas joué et je ne me suis pas intéressée à MSI et aux championnats du monde pendant un long moment, j'étais coincée dans un état très bas et frustré, je n'étais même pas d'humeur à regarder les retransmissions des tournois, mais je m'intéressais toujours aux championnats du monde parce que c'est mon jeu préféré, alors j'ai allumé mon téléphone pour connaître les nouvelles rondes suisses et les horaires, jusqu'à ce que mon ami britannique me demande "Hey Gracie, tu regardes ça ! Gracie, tu le regardes seule ?" Puis il m'a dit : "Encourageons G2 ensemble". Il est même venu à Taïwan en 2019 pour regarder MSI avec moi et encourager G2. Je sais que beaucoup de choses peuvent ne pas bien se passer et que c'est difficile, mais je ne suis pas seule, j'ai juste besoin d'un peu d'encouragement et de compagnie, et quand je serai prête, je me relèverai et je vivrai ma vie avec bonheur ~ merci de m'avoir permis de retrouver ce sentiment et cette passion pour G2. Beaucoup de mes amis passionnés de jeux m'ont également accompagné, nous sommes aussi silencieusement à vos côtés !
Les tournois sont toujours des imprévus et des accidents, cela ne veut pas dire que vous avez vraiment perdu, il faut en tirer les leçons une à une, ne jamais se décourager et abandonner, après un moment difficile se relever et recommencer, merci d'avoir apporté le tournoi et les efforts. J'espère que l'année prochaine je pourrai économiser et acheter un billet d'avion pour aller encourager les championnats du monde G2 !

I really hope G2 keeps this 5 but adds 2 players to top and jungle to do intern scrims. The perfect plan would be to have 10 players to 5v5 secret scrims and practice strats without leaking info. I bet there are a lot of free agents.

While I actively root against EU every year, because their fans are actually insufferable, I still love the team G2. You can tell they really tried, they put in the work, and they had the right mindset going into each series. It does feel like they didn't respect NRG enough, and at the end of the day, losing to both GenG and BLG means they weren't going to make it far in the tourney anyways, but you I can't say anything bad about the team in terms of their attitude and passion going into this worlds.

most of the time BB was behind in these games was him moving to protect he sacked an entire wave to protect yike they got a kill could not kill Bin the lane is just over. This happened in another game with yone he was up cs they want to do a fight he dies happens.
NA/JP fan here… Thanks G2, for a great year of games, content, personality, everything… from the outside looking in, it’s hard to look at a region you aren’t that familiar with and say “Oh yeah, I just want the best team to win.” You look for underdogs, and upset stories, and you see all the fans and hungry players searching for the kings’ downfall, and it’s hard to think about how much pressure falls on the shoulders of those that have the expectations. For those reasons I took G2 for granted. I didn’t think about Yike being so young and having such big shoes to fill. I didn’t think about Caps being called “the hope of the west”. I didn’t think about Hans Sama’s pressure to do better than he did in NA, Micky’s doubters when he won MVP, or the expectations for BB going into worlds against Bin and TheShy and all these fantastic international top laners. When DFM got blasted in play-ins, I thought “Well, guess it’s let’s go western teams again.” I didn’t even think about who would actually do well or go far. G2 started off the tournament well, I thought “Oh, that’s nice, but it’d be nice to see a different western team do well for a change.” When G2 lost to NRG I thought “Hell yeah, let’s go NA! We finally won a series that mattered and beat EU! Making quarters feels great!” I didn’t even consider how G2 felt, and I wasn’t ready for the sheer vitriol I saw online for this team. I felt so unbelievably awful. I felt like part of the problem, just screaming blindly for outcomes that would involve G2 to lose without thinking about what that meant for the humans involved. I decided to wholeheartedly root for G2 against BLG. When G2 got eliminated from the tournament, I just felt empty. Terrible. I don’t know if I’d be allowed to call myself a fan after everything, but I legitimately wanted to see this team reach their goals, and now seeing this video, after all the hate and terrible things people have slung your way now that you’re vulnerable, it really puts it in perspective. You guys, the players, the coaches, the auxiliary staff, everyone, worked so hard to make dreams come true. Not just for yourselves or for your loyal fans, but also for people like me who thought that a region other than LCK or LPL wouldn’t have another shot to win at the rate we’re going. I find myself wanting to follow your stories, root for your players, and send what tiny negligible support I can for everyone involved. It means very little by this point, but from a pathetic DFM and Dignitas fanboy who feels like they contributed to all of the negative emotions and stress you find yourself in now, I’m sorry. Thank you for a glorious year, and for shining a light in the hearts of fans and supporters everywhere. Like the legendary unkillable demon cactus, I’m sure you’ll fight through the drought and stand tall and proud as ever. Good games, G2. Sending all the love and support.

If the boys and the whole team have really put in the work as Romain said in the video, was this end of the year just the summation of small unlucky circumstances? Or was the approach wrong from the get-go?

Staying with the same rosters, they’ll face champion pool issues again next year then. Champion pool issues in players that have played basically forever isn’t gonna solve magically.

I pray this group stays together. Coaching staff included. They have built such insane ground towards success. The work ethic they put up is unparalleled in the west and they have so much more to accomplish together. The group seems to have a great alchemy also! Maybe there will be strongest individuals to consider, but I really believe in the work they have all put up this year and hope they can deliver next year. And by all means let's keep Romain in the boat, what magic is he able to create with a group, that's insane!

You can blame the talent drain all you want but the bigger issue is that absolutely nobody has stepped up, no player after Caps was even close to challenging top Eastern players in skill. Macro and drafting are straight up horrendous, and G2 don't even have the excuse of lack of experience. Caps and Miky were part of the GOAT western roster, known for excellent macro and read on the meta, Hans has been playing for ages too. Even BB is a veteran now. What the fuck is going on with the region? Nothing seems to be working well. Side note, this last game was pathetic, just letting BLG do whatever they want.

i think this was still one or g2’s best performances since 2019 or 2020. That NRG loss was pure cockiness, since when has any team ever seen a stronger opponent and rolled over and let them win, when will g2 stop underestimating teams bc of past achievements. However that game against blg, and those 2 other wins vs the 4th seeds, those are the highest profile western wins of the whole tournament. So congrats, wbg is top 4 and blg broke lpl history this summer and we almost beat them, had it been a 5 game series maybe it wouldve been different, and versus GenG there were signs of life aswell rarely has a western team not been fighting an up hill battle from min1 and been losing 2-3k gold at 15 with 0 kills in the game. G2 changed that this year, keeping mikyx and caps you have to believe g2 will take this slap to the back of the head and stop underestimating and keep cooking their weird definitive game winning strategies vs every team they face. Its not over.
Romains passion for the game and for the team is something special to see. Run it all back in 2024, this team is very special!

Nah not another excuses video. You had everything to make it work, the roster, the skill, the scrim results, the time. G2 is weak mentally, choking under pressure, that's all. You are never going to win anything until you change that.
And you need to do something about those horrible drafts. Your drafts go from perfect to absolute trash with no explanation. It's like you guys forget or don't know what champions are strong and how to use them.
Hell Hans didn't know how to play Xayah properly vs weibo and still carried. You tell me the best adc in EU in lane that likes to have pressure and play lane domninant champions can't play Caitlyn and has to go Ezreal and Lucian - 2 of the most useless adcs in the meta???? You shot yourselves in the foot vs GenG.

I hope that Romain can contribute more sharpness and objectiveness than what is shown in this video. Wanting to be the best requires great preparation and execution but also the realization of the mistakes that were made. In total we lost on 3 different days, it is not like we mental boomed on one day and flew home. We were skillgapped on every position, if the goal is to win it all then Romain needs to be decisive and calling people out. With a performance like this, especially losing to NRG, we were just to weak to compete and that is how he needs to communicate to the players. There is no way anyone is cocky when this saddles in on them..

It pains my heart to see Caps' expression. I felt like he showed the biggest step up from the whole team and I am proud to call him the GOAT IN THE WEST. Caps I hope you find the right team that can take you all the way regardless of where you end up!
Imo he was top 5 midlane at those worlds at least, which is insane considering the competition on mid + the fact the team didn't make top 8. And now that I think about it, Nisqy and Humanoid really did make a case for themselves too, EU mids still are something. EU's early games are often to be feared of.

I don't think you should change the roster. This roster has the skill to beat asian teams 100%. They for sure deserve another chance. But they have to learn how to play under pressure and not get scared/cocky. Also play more than 2 champs in every role. You guys got easy to read by the end.

I think the problem is not really G2, but EMEA (and also NA) as a whole. For a team like G2 the lack of competition just results in a lack of practise. You don't learn how to play against superior opponents. You don't learn how to play from behind. I'm pretty sure, that if this roster played in the LPL or LCK for 2 years, their Worlds performance would look VERY different.

@@VladivozBro the problem is eu does not really invest in new talent the way china does. I am sure there are enough potential players but they just play solo q and do not even think about going pro. I would argue that BB is just not hungry enough. The way he got toyed with in some games I have seen so many chally tops who would not get shit in like this if they go 100% tryhard. There is a lot of bad decision making and not too solid mechanics with him. Hans Sama is good mechanically but has too narrow champ pool. Lol esports in europe are just dying it seems since venture capital is drying up and in asia there is just so much more money in the scene.
I love the video but I hate the sugarcoating, "I think we can be proud", no, you can't be proud, losing to an Asian team is and honorable way to go out, but losing to NA, which by the way got 3-0d by China 4th seed is not something to be proud of. Every year is the same, you dominate domestically and then get demolished in Worlds.
May I remind you that out of all Worlds tournaments G2 made playoffs they went out not getting swept only 1 time (which was a 1-3 against DK in 2020).
Every year G2 seems to be the only western representative that can compete, but always end up falling short, this year not even competing against NRG.
Just surround Caps with 4 talented rookies and teach them to fit best for G2.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of G2 or the LEC, or the West in general, I don't feel sorry for any G2 player seeing them lose, the only one I feel sorry for is Romain, I wish he could speak Korean or Chinese, have Someone like him on the Staff must be incredible, you can see that he really wants to work to win Worlds and that gives me a lot of respect for him. It's a shame that being in the LEC he's never going to win anything, but all my good wishes to him.

Sorry but how i see it, i dont think G2 should be proud. We should be angry, upset, annoyed that for 3 years we did not manage to lift that trophy and maybe see where was our mistakes.
I mean for me as a competitive player which i played mobas a long time, i was annoyed to lose and i always wanted to improve and become the best, and i became one of the best.
Sure maybe League of Legends its different and you need to keep up with all the changes every year, but as players who does this for a living, where you train and practice almost everyday to become better at the game, and still lose its bad.
Anyways, my oppinion is, if you have a winner attitude, and as a team you have a good strategy and good intuition, and good communication while playing, and determination, you will most likely win every game.
Sure, encouraging and showing support to players, motivating them and helping them to improve, and criticizing them for mistakes, does help as well.
For me, improving and always doing my best, being smart, and knowing im a very good player who can compete against any team, proving im better...
What was wrong with G2? i mean i was annoyed since last year, because i was thinking that you cant play League of Legends for a living, in my oppinion, dreaming league of legends, eating with League of legends in mind, and playing everyday and still be bad at it.
Maybe its bad coaching, bad advices, or some players don't have a winner attitude.
And dont get me wrong, i trully believe as a european myself, that we can beat koreans chinese players, and be better than them, and i know that for a fact.
If you really want that, to be the best, and do your best to win every game, having a winner mentality, this players could win every worlds. Determination is very important as well.

I'm sorry I can't empathize with the last part of the video, which is very emotional. I condemn all the gratuitous and violent hatred that the players, in particular, have suffered, but as a fan I cannot complain about the painful performance I witnessed.I still think, and all this videos from all the lec team didn't change my mind, the huge gap from west and est comes not only from the players but also from the staff. West focuses only on the fast results, don't have the long vision. Draft gap, macro gap etc. Or the changes comes from the org or we will not see top 8 Europe for a long time from now. Just wake up and look what going on out of Europe.
