Rye Playland is actually my home park. Ive lived 10 minutes away my whole life and have been there more times than I can count. I thought I new everything there was to know about it but lo and behold Airtime Thrills surprises me. Time to do some digging! It's a quaint little park that has a wild mouse, a well above average wooden coaster, and unfortunately a Zamperla Volare... Fun fact: Playland is the last Government run/owned amusement park in the USA (for better or worse)
R.I.P. Coaster War 1989-2005 Started when Cedar Point opened the first Hyper Coaster (you know what it is), and ended after Kingda Ka opened. The most likely reason why it ended is because no one could afford going bigger. Plus, the recession kicked off a few years later. Also known as the best time era to be a coaster enthusiast.
The coaster wars actually began when Racer at Kings Island was built. It opened as the tallest, fastest coaster in the world in 72. It has an ACE historical plaque stating this.
Loved the video, the year 2000 really stands out to me, as a great year for coasters and just watching your video reminds me of why, I will never forget that Goliath opened in February of that year followed by Millennium Force in May of that year, I have ridden Goliath at Magic Mountain, I haven't had the chance to ride Millennium Force yet but I can't wait to ride it someday, keep up the good work!!!
@@Stephenp503 I heard it was awesome, but never got around to riding it, unfortunately. I guess that they built but couldn't maintain it would count as a negative.

The Starry Sky Ripper (a B&M flying coaster) at a little Chinese amusement park called Joyland has a somewhat similar layout to the Vekoma Flying Dutchman model, including a vertical loop and the double corkscrews, both taken on your back.

Sexual Tyrannosaurus you mentioned Xbox for the following year but not the GameCube. And the Monday Night Wars practically ended when Mick Foley became champion.
What a grand way to begin the millennium! I got to see Millennium Force in it's inaugural season at the age of 5. What a sight! There were so many things that seemed so cool and unstoppable at that time, but it's unfortunate what had to be sacrificed in some cases because of the absurd amounts being invested.
Here’s my list of ideas for the future of Six Flags! - New Six Flags Parks - Six Flags Over Florida - Six Flags Myrtle Beach - Six Flags Philadelphia - Six Flags Wild Safari Adventures - Six Flags Las Vegas - Six Flags Hawaii - New Rides at Existing Six Flags Parks - Cartoon Network rides and attractions - a Safari section for Six Flags Great Adventure with the Safari Off-Road Adventure - a Safari Off-Road Adventure clone for Six Flags Discovery Kingdom - The Flash launch coaster at various Six Flags parks
I know this is just a fantasy, but some of these are just not done. At least a Six Flags in Vegas will have the best rides in the city and less bankrupt hookers.
Philly isn't too far from GADV, I think it's only around an hour away? I know that's a city market they pull from. Definitely agree with the launch idea. That's the one thing I think SFOG is missing in their lineup!
Loved the video, I think you missed one though. At Knotts on 3/3/00 Windjammer Surf Racers closed for ever. After less than 3 years of operation. Cedar Fair sued TOGO rides (the manufacture) and trashed their reputation in the USA. Since Windjammer closed and the lawsuit, TOGO has not built a single ride in the US. The land where Windjammer sat is now Xelleraror. If you want photos of the demolition I can link you to some from archive.org. Fair warning though they are quiet grousom. Knotts literally tore that thing down violently after losing the law suit.
If there's one I would have added it would have been the debut of Lightning Racer at Hersheypark. As GCI created a unique coaster experience as it was the first racing and dueling coaster, but more importantly while not GCI's first coaster, it really showed off what GCI had up their sleeves when it came to their future in the coaster business.
As a native New Orleanian, its possible to build a successful, protected park in the New Orleans area, just not in the location that they had it. On the northshore of Lake Ponchartrain would have been more sufficient, and its protected from flood waters and Hurricanes... only about 30 mins or so from downtown New Orleans.

son of beast had many issues. during the building, and windstorm knocked down supports, with Kings island claiming everything was ok.
