Thanks so much for the video. Quick suggestion - from your toolbar > Edit > Preferences, Click on the "Default" tab, scroll down and click "Cut to Edge" Then your page cut border with go to the edge and you won't lose anything when you nest it :)
Thank you so much for that video, I have used my Silhouette Studio almost every day for two years and have failed to explore it all! Your instructions are so clear! Thank you, Thank you
I am also new to silhouette and I have been watching your videos and I finally last night learned how to nest I kept on telling my wife to come and see what I did and she was watching TikTok and wants me to make her something for her mother for Mother’s Day so the ideas are already flowing but he told my wife that she must help me with what she wants on there because having the worlds best Bubba ever is a little bit slim Pickens if you ask me
Nesting is a function I’ve rarely used but thanks to your excellent tutorial I’ll be experimenting!! I’m enjoying your videos Becky and thank you for making them! 😃
Great tutorial... I was hoping this would solve my problem but NO... I want to duplicate a shape and have it enlarge incrementally say 25% would you know how to do this I have SS business edition... Thx
Another FANTASTIC lesson!!!!!!! Thank you so much for these lessons! I've just had my Cameo 4 a couple of months and whilst I've played around with the software a bit and figured a few things out, I definitely aren't using it to its full potential. I've got LOADS of questions to ask! 😂🙈 I'd like to start with the different options in the send panel though please? I don't know what they do and I've not managed to figure that out yet 😂
That's amazing Tasha! I'm so glad that we are able to help you along your journey! If there's anything else you want to see, let me know and we'll add it to the list! Thanks so much for watching! -Becky
Love your tutorials!🥰 If wanted to put a phrase inside a half heart (A piece of my heart lives in heaven), would this be the best way? Padding? Rotation? All text in one text box or several?
Hey Shanae, I'm glad you are enjoying the videos! Unfortunately if I'm understanding you correctly, you'll want to place the words by hand. You can use Nesting, but it won't recognize the order of the words for them to read as a sentence. Hope this helps! ---Becky
This is so cool! Is it possible to click on individual words once in the shape and rotate? I was wondering as a few of the words in the N were upside down and my brain wanted to turn them right way up 😅 great video again, thanks. I’m about to upgrade my software but big upgrade because I use a Cricut!
Hi, I follow the instructions for nesting up to the point where it is select shape as boundary, when I select all the hearts the nest stays greyed out , Can You help I have design edition and 4.5 . Thanks in advance
I loved this tutorial and it worked beautifully, until just recently. First I make my shapes like you did that I want to nest inside my bigger shape. Then I create the shape I want, say a circle or heart, etc. The moment I select the shape and click on Custom Boundary button, instantly the Nesting button is grayed out and it will not let me nest my smaller shapes into the larger one. Any idea why? I have search and searched, even tried contacting Silhouette America, and no information and no response. Can you please help?
I'm trying to nest in a capital R and it is only going in the center of the R, not throughout the whole letter. What am I missing? And BTW I love your videos!
Nesting can be a little finicky, but I would make sure that your shapes will fit inside the letter (not too large). Sometimes it takes a few tries, and make sure all your shapes are off to the side of the mat. Those are my first two thoughts. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles I have tried everything I can think of. I really need the letter R. I've changed the fonts, made it large, made the fillers smaller, tried with just shapes going in (not words)...and it only fills in the middle of the R. I used a N like you did and it worked perfectly. I guess it doesn't like letters with circles in the middle :( Oh well off to something else... thanks for trying to help!
This is a great video. I am trying to do the hearts. I draw my big heart and selected all other hearts. I open the Nest panel and click on select shape as boundary. Unchecked only media shape and set other features. But when I click on Nest, all my hearts turn blue and nothing else happens. They never go inside of the big heart. What am I doing wrong?
Let me correct this. When I click on select shape as boundary, ALL my hearts UNSELECT and turn blue!!!! I cant not select them all again after that in order for me to click on Nest!
I bought a pattern but I want to modify it. I want to connect a piece to the outline but there is a cut line in the way so that when I hit send, it shows the cut line and the fold line as one. Is there a way to meld the two pieces without the cut line so only the fold line will now be a part of the pattern?
@@DesignBundles Hmm, I did try weld but the cut line still showed when I tested it on the send. However, I shall now try it again without the fold lines. Thank you.
Hey Mae, for some reason this feature is taxing on your computer system. I would close all other programs and design tabs you may have open, then allow the computer time to do it's work after clicking the Nest button. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Is there an update to this video or maybe I am missing something. I am following step by step and the nesting feature isnt working. The button is lighting up to press.
for anyone having trouble, missed step on the edition that I am using now....I had to group the shapes and place them on the cutting area in order for the nest button to enable. not sure why that is.
I was able to do this within a star, however I am trying to nest within an image I created. It will not let me do it. Is there something that I need to do to the image first?
Hey Mary, it depends a little. What type of design are you using? It does need to be a completed path. If you double click on the line, it will open the Point Editing menu. Look at all the dots and see if any of them are red. If there are red dots, then your path is broken and Silhouette Studio won't fill it with anything. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Janet, as long as the letters are overlapping, welding should work easily for you. I would say to restart your software and try to create the design from scratch again. That way in case anything happened to your file in the designing process that you didn't notice, you can try again with a clean slate. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Great question Vickie! If you want multiple colors, you would change each heart's color before grouping. I would recommend grouping each color together, that way it's easy to separate for cutting. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have additional questions! -Becky
Our apologies for the delay in response and we hope you've found the answer but if you are still having any troubles, please feel free to write in to mail@designbundles.net or join us in a live chat so we can help with your next project! - Brittany
There is, Rhonda! That's a great question. So I use the shortcut for the duplicate function (CTRL + directional arrow on keyboard). So I held down the CTRL button on my keyboard and then tapped which direction I wanted to duplicate. It works for up, down, left or right. We have a video on my top 10 favorite shortcuts in Silhouette Studio and that is one of my most used, for sure! Thank you for the video. I have designer edition, but not the puzzle piece on the left of the screen?? Why will that be?
I believe the puzzle maker is a feature of Business Edition, so it may not display in your software. Hope this helps! ---Becky
