Those cars are in pretty good shape! The fact that they’re in Vegas has probably kept them in pretty nice shape. It’s pretty hard to keep cars like that looking nice in the northeast.
Interesting. I used to drive for UPS, and the color of the trucks is called Pullman Brown. The founders loved the trains so they made UPS trucks the same color. So whenever you see a UPS truck, you can think of Pullman trains.
I halfway wanted there to be a bookshelf in there so he could ask Rebecca over, because I know she'd geek out over that train too. That thing is incredible. I love old train cars like that.
These train cars were owned by Bob Snow, who founded Church Street Station entertainment complex in Orlando. (Eventually Snow sold the Orlando complex and tried a similar venture in Vegas in the 80s but failed, which is why these train cars were there.) I was a waiter at his Orlando restaurant Lily Marlene's in the late 70s, and often walked over to Snow's train cars to serve him his dinner. Bob was known as an eccentric among his staff, most of whom were frightened of him and his outbursts. But I didn't mind, as it gave me a chance to get outside for a few minutes and have a smoke. Life was good.
If I had the means, I would buy those in a heartbeat. I'd even go so far as to buy an old abandoned train station, somewhere that was connected to the main lines, to restore and convert into a home. And buy an engine to pull them. Then all I'd have to do is have a small custom made garage car, and I'd be all set.
Things were made to last back then. Now everyone wants the newest thing and will throw away a perfectly good object just because the next model came out.
It's in nice shape, but without the original box it came in, and you don't have any of the track... what were you looking to get for it? ~~ Anyway, I wonder if the rolling stock, brakes etc. are still in usable condition.

SeeOurWrecks HEP, couplings, glazing, trucks, easily $1 million. $200,000 in wiring, another 200 in wheels, probably some roof work, definitely kitchen work (and that’s the the 1902 CB&Q Car, The our Car is a C&S Car (acquire by CB&Q) and is of wooden construction. That also might hamper this car as well, depending on what percentage of it is wood.
whoever buys it will probably be 2 kinds of people 1. some train nut that will lay tracks down on their property and just have it sit there 2. some train touring company that will fix it up then have it ride people around on luxury trips for money
