- Nigel was not happy about the multiple spa days it took to get him looking presentable for summer.
He is finally looking more like the fabulous little horse he is and less like a hairy goat!

I love watching your videos. Sometimes I have to take a break. My emotions get high in the winter. I miss my husband and his horses so much. It's 12 years this year. I also miss all the smells. I still have his roping saddle. I need to clean it again just from it sitting and getting dusty and dry from the heat. I keep it in the house. Lol. People think im strange keeping a big saddle in my living room and not a horse in sight and with my old bone situation I can only ride very gentle horses. I don't live very close to anywhere to ride too so it's not often I get to ride. I live in the country in TN. When young I really tried to get my husband to move to Montana. Now that the cold is so hard on me Im glad Im still in the south. But I've always thought it is so beautiful there. You have the perfect spot with your view of the mountains. I'm so glad I found your channel. Nigel is my favorite. He reminds me of a pony my husband rehabed and gave to our oldest granddaughter when she was three. The two oldest grands are the only two who got to spend lots of time with their PopPop and the horses. There's a picture of Brook when she was 2 leading Lucy across the field. Steve was close by but cropped out of the picture. He was proud as a peacock.

Nigel actually has some good conformation and is a great mover, more a miniature show horse than a pony. I wonder if he comes from a good breader originally. Yeah, give him a pretty mini mare, those babies should turn out really nice! 😀

Nigel is a full stallion, all that testosterone does make them more stubborn and crabby.
Nigel was at the end of his road, unwanted, unhealthy, suffering, and cruelly neglected. Not many people would have taken him in. What you have done for him, showering him with affection, kindness, and the best care at considerable expense while asking and expecting nothing of him, actually brings tears to my eyes.❤

In fields where wildflowers kiss the sky,
Lives tiny Nigel, with a coat freshly shorn,
A little horse with a giant glint of mischief and distain in his eye,
Trotting away lighter, since the winter coat’s long gone.
His kitty cat barn sister named Tiny, hovers over him like a small, but mighty bodyguard,
With playful headbutts, she greets him each morn,
Together with all their siblings, under Clever Girl's TLC,
Their antics a dance, beautifully adorned.
From Montana's plains to many continents afar,
Clever Girl's voice bridges vast distances with grace,
Connecting tales of four-legged friends that enter our lives and daily thoughts,
Each story a thread in the tapestry she shares.
So here’s to Nigel and Tiny, and the entire cast of beloved horses and Huckleberry too, that soak in the snuggles and scratches like the royalty critters that they are,

We had an ancient pony when I was a kid. We called him our pasture goblin,and he ruled the entire place. I’m so glad this little stinker landed with you. He’s living the life all horses deserve. Love your videos. They make me homesick in the best way. Thank you for doing what you do

I honestly don't know how real influencers do it. I am never clean, the horses barely make it through their baths, only to roll in turds minutes later. I guess that's real life for ya!

Despite having to weather all the grooming, feeding, blanketing and vet visits, Nigel seems to have about as good a retirement as a pony could ever get.

I love this cantankerous little grump so much. The way he was showing off for Prim killed me, I didn't think anything would be funnier than Scarlett watching the bath shenanigans but I was wrong lol. I hope Nigel stays strong and has great quality of life for a long time to come.

Watching C.C.’s videos are always a pleasure while hearing the different kinds music she subtly infuses, but most often I am impressed with her abundance of patience she shows no matter the task.
If there is any one characteristic to emulate and highlight, her patience is the one I witness each time I visit. It does challenge my own ability to keep pace with C.C. who is a teacher I learn from each visit.

Wow! Little Nigel has in indeed become " huge " with us all. When you're small and male both, it can be quite a challenge. Imagine his feelings when having to deal with others larger than him. He shows us he has courage, spirit, pride, and just wants to be acknowledged. He does love you Clever Cowgirl, just he can't show you right now. Sometimes matters of the heart are easier if left disguised, especially in his world where everything is a challenge to his character. Your love, your kindness, your patience, and extraordinary awareness of his health issues are such a blessing to this little guy. You and Nigel have truly captured my heart and so many others watching. I think we can say we learned from Nigel's reactions , that he definitely is telling the world, " I may be small, but I still will have the last decision. " That is BIG!

Nigel has so much pride that he refuses to concede to ANYONE or anything . Look at him prancing around like a peacock, in spite of pain, blindness and old age. I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for his attitude. Thank you for helping him, I bet he is grateful, but doesn’t know how to express anything but contempt 🤷♀️🙏🕊️❤️

I loved the crazy hair and blue tinged tail LOL! I also don't think 'hate' is the right word. Nigel is a stallion which makes him willful and he just prefers to do as he pleases. This situation is more like a woman trying to drag a man along when going purse shopping, he just doesn't want to do all that unpleasant crap. If she had him do things he super loves 10 times in a row on the next 10 catches, I bet he'd come faster the 11th time, part of it is the unpleasant activities of the last few times are fresh in his mind, he's basically saying no, don't wanna go 'purse shopping!' Also he likes his corral so he doesn't want to risk getting put in that boring old stall, he'd rather freeze do death instead LOL! Unfortunately if she has to be careful with his diet, she can't just bribe him with some carrots a lot either. I wonder if he likes walks, she might be able to reward him with those instead. It's harder if you can't find anything that can be used as a bribe. If he doesn't expect to get anything super fun out of it, then he has no reason to let her grab him.

Nigel is such a sweet problem child. He looked so pretty before his mud bath. Really liked his tie-up mane-do when you were shaving him. That fluff crown was perfect. You could have left it. How lucky he is to have you caring for him. Love ya both!
I groom my standard poodles and came across a slipper blade cooling trick. The spray you are using now works but not for long. Get yourself a chinchilla cooling pad. It works so great and not very costly. I have 3 of each size blade so there is always a cool blade ready for use.

Nigel is an uppity little blighter, for sure. He and all the other miscreants are so lucky that you look beyond their personalities and problems and delight in them anyway. And, even more importantly, continue to feed them so well, and keep a careful and knowledgeable eye on tweaking their dietary and emotional needs. I can only imagine how exhausted you are after dealing with the trials and tribulations of shaving off Nigel's wooly winter coat, bathing him, while trying to keep Skeletor calm so he continues to heal. I know you love them all anyway, but sometimes they do not make any of their care easy. (At least none of the geldings escaped today :) They are a bunch of very lucky, loveable misfits. Thank you for all you do for them and for sharing them with us.

Can you imagine how absolutely stunning he was when he was at his peak health? He is still so beautiful even as a cranky old man :)
Our little mini got colic tonight, we have been up all night, he is over 30, and the spunkiest little dude you will ever meet, he loves horses, always the boss, he loves his humans more, he taught all my children to ride, my eldest is about to turn 21, he isn’t an animal, he is apart of the family, a brother, a son a grandchild, a nephew…. He is holding on atm, but never take for granted the things you have, because like a blink of the eye the could be gone x

Wow you really had a tough time with his bath. Reminds me of clipping and cleaning my Persian cats 🐈. They are elderly now so I have to break it into steps to keep stress from hurting them. lol I need the breaks myself! Good luck with adjusting his diet. He is a very very cute little stinker❤

I love how you know what type of feeding regimen each of your horses need to be on and when, and the type of feed needed for that regimen, as well as being able to immediately identify by sight, there is an issue and a change is needed.
Yes you seem to be a nutrition whisper esp for Nigel’s metabolic issues. Just 2! Weeks makes a difference never understood how their feet flounder could you explain that one time?

Ever since I saw a video with Nigel in it, I can’t but every time get reminded of my little old dog, twelve years now. They are so alike, my dog and Nigel. The hair in their eyes, misschieve glinting there, And the absolute determination Not to get groomed, pampered och anything else that they can’t deside for themselves. When you chase Nigel in his pen it feels like I’m shasing my dog through the apartment. He knows my every move even when I try and hide it. He’s the smartest dog I ever had, and I had a few very smart ones, but he tops them all. But then he is a cross between a chihuahua and som sort of small terrier and as street smart as any mott in the town. And like Nigel and other mini horses seem to be, my dog is the most dangerous 😅 dog I ever had and I have concluded it’s because he’s small and awfully cute. He’s the Only dog I ever had that has been so curled and pampered that I sometimes think he’s more a cat than a dog, and maybe he was in his previous life, haha. My heart melts every time I see Nigel looking through his mane and trotting like a king in his pen. You have a wonderful life with all the beautiful horses and stunning Nigel. ❤❤
I was a pro dog groomer for many years and we often used that old fashioned laundry bluing in our shampoo. Once I bathed an elderly Westy whose coat had gotten quite yellow with his age. He turned green. So watch out! Love your videos, love Nigel, but Skeletor is my fave.

Rewatching this, I must say those new clippers are da bomb. Do not throw away the dull blades. Contact the manufacturer to ask about sharpening. Ask about local sharpening services at the local livestock products retailers. It's a lot cheaper than new blades.
Dog groomers usually have a guy who sharpens their blades! Check with sheep shearers too, they go through a lot of blades as well.
