  • In this video we tell you our top 5 best neighborhoods in Midlothian Virginia and we give you all our top reasons why Midlothian VA is one of the best places to live in Richmond VA! If you are curious what it is like to live in Richmond Virginia this is definitely the channel for you! In this video we first go over what it is like to live in Midlothian Va, and we will show you all the nearby amenities, or your bubble as we call it. We will show you what your life could look like if you choose to live here.
    And after our dive into what it is like to live in Midlothian we will show you 5 of the absolute best neighborhoods in the area. If you have any questions about anything you see in this video please leave a comment and we will absolutely get back to you!
    In a previous video I mentioned that the one downside to living in Short Pump is that it is more expensive to live there and that Midlothian is a great alternative to short pump. This is absolutely true. Midlothian is a wonderful suburb of Richmond just south of the James River and Henrico county’s west end. Midlothian has grown into a miniature version of short pump and is a close 2nd for shopping, dining, and entertainment. You might want to choose Midlothian to live in if your work is located south of the river and you want to avoid commuting over 288 to the west end, or maybe you want a little more for your money.
    Midlothian is actually quite large and comprised of 3 different zip codes, 23114, 23113, and 23112. Be sure to go to greatschools.org and check out the school system ratings within those zip codes, you will absolutely be pleased. Since Midlothian is so large, in this video we will focus on the more northern side of Midlothian because we feel that is the best area since you are the closest to all the amenities.
    We examine all there is to do within a 4 mile radius and while not as densely packed as short pump there is still plenty to love about this location. Within that bubble is
    West Chester Commons has everything you could need from shopping, to dining, to entertainment. It has a Target, Petco, & office max. It also has everything from fast dining with chic fil a, five guys, to sit down casual dining at one of our favorite Mexican spots Plaza Azteca. If you want a little more upscale or a parents night out type of place then definitely check out Sedona taphouse.
    But Midlothian isn’t just west chester commons, there is so much more. Also within that 4 mile radius there is the following. Tons of grocery stores including a newer Wegmans, a Kroger, publix, aldi, the fresh market, food lion, Walmart, and the target already mentioned in West Chester Commons. There is a brand new Trader Joe's JUST BARELY outside that 4 mile radius.
    You also have access to some really great gyms in midlothian including a 24 hour Golds Gym in Westchester commons, a super nice YMCA, ACAC which has an awesome outdoor water park, and a huge American Family Fitness right off Midlothian Turnpike. There are 2 movie theaters within that bubble, a bowling alley, and Chesterfield Town Center which is the mall on the Southside. So there is absolutely plenty to love about living in Midlothian. Another spot you have to check out is Wood & Iron Game Day. They have awesome drink specials and really good smoked & grilled wings, so it’s a great place to watch a game and hang out with friends.
    Our top 5 neighborhood picks are Abbey Village, Walton Park, Rountrey, Hallsley, and Tarrington. There is another neighborhood that didn't quite make the list so be sure to watch the video and see why it didn't for yourself. If you want more information on any of the neighborhoods featured just reach out to us. We are always happy to help!

    If you like tacky Christmas lights, choose Walton Park! However, be prepared for a lot of tourist traffic...

    I lived in Walton Park for 7 years and we are going on 11 years in our Charter Colony home. (Not Abbey Village, but another Village.) You can't go wrong with the location!

    You guys are awesome and I love how detailed your videos go into each topic. I just accepted a new job in RVA with my facility located in Midlothian. I want to rent for the first year and take my time to find that perfect property. Can you help?

      Congrats on the new job! We love the idea that you rent first to get the lay of the land before you buy a home, it definitely gives you more flexibility with the house hunt and timing too. Sarah and I don't work the rental market but we can still help answer your questions you might have about the area. We just started doing some videos about apartments in the different suburbs and those will get launched early 2022. In the meantime, email me at Taylor@JeffersonGroveRVA.com with any questions and/or what you are looking to find rental wise and I will see what I can do for you. Thanks for watching and leaving the comment!

    Question: we are considering moving (back) to Richmond for our retirement. Where in Richmond will we get the biggest bang for our dollar regarding home prices? I remember Midlothian being cheaper than the West End (I grew up in the Fan and just off of Staplesmill, behind Willow Lawn). Thanks!

    • @LivingInRichmondVirginia
      @LivingInRichmondVirginia  2 года назад

      Beyond price, what else is important to you that you hope to find. Chesterfield & Mechanicsville are on average cheaper than other areas but Goochland & Powhatan also have affordable options (but won't really work if you don't want rural).

      @@LivingInRichmondVirginia We’re okay with rural, between .25 and .50 of an acre we’re fine with. We would love to have a shed to potentially make into my office (I own a massage therapy company) and/or make an Airbnb.
      Since we both have pre-existing conditions, we need to be close to doctors and hospitals. No more than 1200 square feet, all on one level. We’re planning for the future, in case of wheelchairs and/or walkers. No townhomes or condos. Central air. We’re fine with doing some work, if it’s just cosmetic in nature.

      The East End of Henrico county could work (Sandston areas), Mechanicsville, and Southern Chesterfield County (east of Midlothian) would be where I would focus my search. Those areas will have the nearby amenities and offer some affordable brick ranchers.

    How is Ashland?

    • @LivingInRichmondVirginia
      @LivingInRichmondVirginia  2 года назад +1

      Far more quaint than many of the other suburbs. It has a cute "downtown" area and there is an active train track that goes right through. Overall it is a bit more quiet (except beside the train track) and a bit more rural. Another added benefit to Ashland is if you commute up north you will benefit from its location and proximity to highway 95.

    How about Brandermill? Thanks!

    • @LivingInRichmondVirginia
      @LivingInRichmondVirginia  3 года назад +4

      While Brandermill is beautiful, we didn't include it because of the soil problems that Brandermill is known for. When built in the 80s not all the appropriate soil studies were done and the area is plagued by shrink-swell soil which causes very expensive foundation repairs. That reason alone is why we left it out.

    what about Salisbury

    • @LivingInRichmondVirginia
      @LivingInRichmondVirginia  3 года назад +1

      It was definitely a discussion between Sarah and I whether we should include Salisbury or not. Ultimately we decided not to and it is because for a similar price I would choose a different neighborhood/house. Salisbury is no doubt beautiful, but the homes are expensive and much older so some of the floorplans and layouts feel dated. Definitely a great place to live and lots of people love it, it just didn't make this video. Thanks for asking!
