    Good review, man. I'm glad you're honest. Kind of sick of all the "This is a gamechanger!" reviews. Saw one guy analyzing it with some spectrum analyzer, showing it creates some harmonic distortion and stuff. I mean, fair enough, I guess, if that's what it does. But you can also just use an eq and some subtle saturation instead, if you need to.

  • @petrkorinek9559

    To my ears it does add a subtle low end shift/boost, I feel like it could be replicated with something like pro-q or carve eq matching, however as someone else mentioned already I mostly heard it on the chugs.

    I have the trial version, to me the irs without it feel static, irs are snapshots after all and with it i hear some kind of movement, like adding some kind of randomness to tone, its subtle but its there, like the channel strip emulations from plugin alliance, where you can load different channel of the console, its also subtle but it adds up if you spread it to the mix, still it wont make your tone better, you need a good tone and in the end if you want to put a cherry on top, then you can go for this plugin for the last 5% to the final tone.

    • @vaidotasdarulis

    I've listen few demo and I do hear something even if it's subtle with intense setting at 158%. When it's bypass you hear something is missing. it' a bit tighter with it on the low end with a tad more low mids and a little more gain. it's not night and day for sure but it can probably enhance an already very good guitar sound.

  • @mitchdeathblossom

    I dont know why you can't hear this plugin? I'ts clearly adding an automated movement in the low end, almost like a random sweep at fast cycles to emulate speaker air... It is definitely subtle, but it does help the guitars in the context of a mix.

  • @PippPriss
    @PippPriss 5 месяцев назад +1

    There is a difference in the low end rumble, it becomes especially clear in the palm mutes on the start of your snippet. BUT, it only is apparent on intense mode, 150% cranked. And if I'd WANT more oomph, then I'd simply just make another take where I dig in a bit harder on the strings, to be honest.

    One thing I have noticed is that it might matter if you set it to mono or stereo mode, I think it's set as stereo as standard and if you put it on mono on every track like that it might not work as intended. I have experimented with this both and found it to sound better the way you have it setup, BUT made sure it's set to mono mode and calibrated and all that.

    i like Bogren's knobs and Bogren's IRs (very good for generic and quick go to stuff), but this one seems like emperor's clothes 😊. On the other hand this plugin was asked by users and here it is. I think this is not a new plugin, but an interface upon the cab section already included in the knobs. So, with little effort and known demand, is a no brainer path to take. I would reaaaaaly appreciate other knobs for some exotic amps though 😊

    That is because you focus your attention on the frequencies instead of the dynamics; try to AB test a 2 seconds of the bass drum with two different tracks in your DAW and listen to the attacks difference, you can notice that the wet attacks got more impact.

    It's a very subtle difference. About as subtle as comparing their products to the amps they are inspired by. I think only the tone nit pickers would even be able to tell if it's on, and that's an entire subject in itself. Is it worth it? At 40 bucks I'd say so, but remember it'll go on sale sooner than you know it. I'm getting it, but I love Bogren.

    I am just trying to understand what this does because for recorded tones an amp sim with a cab ir is as good as it gets for me. .what it lacks is for anybody who has actually played thru an actual tube amp with a cab is the feel and response of a an actual amp. So if this does that and i can actually get that missing element when playing my amp sims thru monitors or headphones.

  • @cmd_f5
    @cmd_f5 5 месяцев назад +4

    IMO, it's basically an exciter for guitar. So rather than having a saturator or something on the guitars bus, slap this on each track. Not worth the price really. In the MLC, I turn it off. Makes the tone too fizzy or airy sometimes and not in a good way.
    The funny thing is Kazrog has something similar in Recabinet and AmpCraft 92. I think the difference there is Shane's algorithm focuses more on the lows and high mids, rather than the super highs.
    In the end, this is just another tool for people, but I'm gonna pass for now.

      "Makes the tone too fizzy or airy sometimes and not in a good way." - is exactly what I heard the first time I listened to this demo. The moment it's turned off my ears appreciated the sound more than with it. It hypes 3-5khz too much with harmonic saturation that my ears are super sensitive too and it just hurts. Honestly all Bogren impulses are hyped in that area and I personally find them unusable for that reason, it's just too much, I spend so much time dialing down that area that in the end I just go with another impulse response that's not as processed as his. Maybe they're good for live stuff, dunno, but for me in a mix, it's hard to dial in if I want something else other than tones everyone is using.

    It models cone/driver movement into the way a real speaker interacts with a mic. Try it with it being the very last thing in your chain after your EQ. And make sure it's calibrated. It's not really meant to give a huge tonal change. But it makes IR's (if they are good) respond/react in a more realistic natural way.

    What's kind of crazy isn't any sort of tone shift or anything, but speaker feel. My headphone drivers literally start dancing to the music when it's engaged. It's most obvious for the chords that you let ring out and the vibrations decay with the bass, where the response seems to not change when the plugin is bypassed - it's like it has the same intensity from the initial attack through the decay without it. It's less noticeable on my monitors and I don't know if that's because they're actual pieces of shit or not.

    If you can't hear the difference with this plugin, either, you need new speakers and/or room, or you need new ears. It's subtle, but when used properly it adds something which helps bring guitars to the front and a bit of dynamics to the IR response. I suspect the reason you can't hear a difference here is your guitar tone is pretty bad honestly. Too much gain and hollow as hell.

      Thanks for commenting dude. I'm not gonna spend 40 dollars to have the tiniest difference on my tone. A difference I don't like either.

      @@resingtonI respect that. I'm not saying it's worth $40 to anyone. I'm just not sure how someone could say they cannot hear what it does, it's subtle, but obvious.
      And, I think if you actually did a bit of testing with different sims and cabs you might find it actually does help in some scenarios to add something dynamic that is missing when you're not actually moving air (.ie speaker and mic).

    Yeah. I’d take this baby off the market. It’s a dud. Not sure who is behind their PR whatever or products, but this is a fail.

    Revisandolo, creo que introduce picos de presencia, y ademas, movimientos aleatorios de eq en los medios. Con guitarras limpias y con overdrive suaves, es notorio el cambio, pero con guitarras de pobre dinamica no tiene mucho sentido.
