  • In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. Hi ! I would love to tell you about this " Vision" I received from Paula , my fiance', 5 mins. after she died from Cancer. I was outside her room in the Hospice. Well, I was crying my eyes out, and I HEARD her call my name ! She said " Rick, Rick" , I looked up to the right, and there she was!!!! Like from the shoulders up kind of thing. She was just BEAMING with JOY ! She was soooo happy. Smiling like I have never seen! Very beautiful, looking younger than I knew her. Kind of like Jesus's age. She was wearing her favorite blue blouse. She was just Radiant ! She was surrounded by this hard to describe white light. She said, " There Is A Light , There Is A Light", twice. I was in a daze and just repeated it. I said, there is a light. She nodded her head yes. She just smiled hugely, so incredibly beautifully at me for a while, then looked off towards the Light. She had such a look of LONGING on her face. A look of LOVE, of HAPPINESS. I knew I shouldn't but I had to look, too. There was nothing, and when I looked back, she was gone. That's it.

Rick, without sounding to harsh I think you were seeing what you wanted to see, as I’m sure you do believe what you seen as the truth, but grief can affect us all in different ways, you describe seeing your lovely lady from the shoulders up but then you say that she was wearing her favourite blouse.
I do wish you all the best and yes I may be wrong but the one thing we have in common is that we just don’t know what happens when we die.

I had a NDE in 2002 while on the oncology unit in a hospital in Colorado Springs, dying from septicemia which had come from my chemo port-my drs had told come in and informed me “that without divine intervention I was not going to make it as I was not responding to any of the medical treatments and IV antibiotics (vancomycin, gentamicin, etc), my organs were shutting down & if I had loved ones out of town they needed to be called” and indeed my kidneys had completely shut down, other organs shutting down, & I had swelled up from 125 lbs to over 200lbs and was very very ill 😷 as a result. I didn’t go thru a tunnel-instead I was in a meadow with beautiful flowers 🌸 unlike any colors I’d ever seen (muted brights) with a huge tree in the center like one of those you see in Africa sometimes similar to a live oak tree in its spread but different type leaves. My younger brother was there who had died 15 yrs earlier at the age of 18 from Bone Cancer. No other deceased beloved family members or friends-it was only just him, which was a bit odd as I was closer to my older brother who had been killed 2 years after my younger brother died. Sometimes we were in human form, other times as just entities, but I always knew it was him and we communicated telepathically. Sometimes we ran (glided)& played in the meadow like children, other times we’d sit under/against that single tree and have deep conversations. One of 1st things I asked him was why he had gotten cancer as a kid. He said because he was a comforting spirit for children w cancer-and the only way he could become that is to have gone thru it all himself. Very sensible responses to questions I asked. I know I’ve not been allowed to remember much of many answers to many questions or my experience-how I know that I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ I just do. Back in my hospital room, I was slowly slipping further away with much pain & I’d slip into this meadow more and more. It was so obvious that some of my friends even asked me later if I remembered where I would “go to” during those times. Which I absolutely knew where and shared this with them: This was a meadow with almost knee high beautiful flowers flowing gently on a slight breeze with this one huge tree in the center. The meadow was surrounded by a soft light that looked a lot like clouds. It never got dark, the weather was always perfect, and there was no sky-just that cloud like soft light. At my worst physically when they believed death was imminent, a figure walked toward me in white flowing robes, with shoulder length hair, beard, tanned/olive skin, caring, understanding, knowledge & love shining in his eyes, I choose to believe it was Jesus versus an angel. The closer I walked(really more like glided) toward him, the more of an overwhelming feeling of going home, of peace, of unconditional love so strong-nothing I’d ever said or done or thought bad or wrong affected that love-it was so strong it could make you feel like weeping. He never came into my meadow, just to the edge, which is where I had come over to meet him at. After being told my life had purpose, that we all have a divine purpose even if we get thrown off track by life and/or “sin” & never discover it, it still very much exists....then I was given a choice to stay or return-and only because I hadn’t finished my 3 children’s scrap books of how much I loved them, advice for a future I didn’t think I would be a part of because of my illness, etc.. did I choose to return. I slowly, miraculously to my several doctors, began to recover and after a total of about 4 months in the hospital I was discharged home and even tho I had many more surgeries, treatments, etc...I eventually recovered, having had my last surgery to date in 2006 of 17 surgeries from Nov 1999. I’m left with some health issues, namely a bone disease called multi focal avascular necrosis as a result of some of the medication I was given, but I live and after that experience I no longer fear death, for I know now it’s actually peaceful and you’re not alone. I don’t talk about my experience much, but felt a need to share some bits of it today. NDE is very real and I don’t believe it’s just something our brain makes up. And I truly do believe we all each have a divine purpose. Some discover it and feel complete on a totally different level, some never even know or try & always feel like something is missing even if they’re totally successful in all other areas. And I know that it’s one of those things where the journey is the teacher more so than the destination-that this destination can only be reached thru the discoveries that occur on the journey.

kathleen dobens I took care of my father the last 6 months he was a live. Almost 9 years after he passed on, I had a dream (more like a vision) we were walking together in the neighborhood I grew up in. We did not say a word to each other while walking. My father looked to be in his 30's. After a short time, we sat on a porch step and I looked at my father and asked: "How are you doing?" He replied: "I'm doing great." Then I woke up. I was exhausted, like I had just run 10 miles. He was radiant and this vision was like watching a HD movie. I've only had one other similar vision with someone else who I knew that had passed. These experiences are profound.

Most “main stream” scientists laugh and make fun of it…….but in reality, all it is, is tomorrow’s science. She was jumping around telling me ‘mum this is fun as she did all these amazing flips’’ I replied ‘ that’s nice Michelle’. Then she left. I had an NDE in 1972. When I returned, I shared this with my husband. First, I hadn’t wanted to return. Second, I hated that there are wars here and darkness. Three, we get more than one life. I had never thought about reincarnation, but I returned with an unshakable belief in it. He thought he knew how the brain, mind and consciousness worked. A transcendental near-death experience (NDE), in which he was driven to the brink of death and spent a week deep in coma from an inexplicable brain infection" Thank You for Your comment but this is Your view and I won't change mine because of that. If I may, I'd like to ask a question to any of you who have had an NDE. Skeptics seem to think that when a person who has had an NDE revives, his brain activates and just before he wakes up he has vivid dreams about meeting God, meeting dead relatives, having a life review, and other remarkable experiences. The skeptics interpret these as simply a physiological reaction as you return to consciousness. But since we all have vivid dreams at night when we are asleep, how do you folks know for a fact that what you experienced was not just a vivid dream, but something very real and much more profound? I am not asking this out of skepticism, but out of genuine curiosity to understand what it was that you went through. Any thoughts?

Second, because I had one similar experience myself, except it wasn't NDE, I was just resting in bed and had an amazing vision, and multiple other minor experiences troughout my whole life. In my vision, it was exactly like he described, a sense of eternity, so much love and total stillness and peace so deep that it was shaking the ground. there were also some visuals that since that experience was able to recreate in my artwork but only a part since this experience was beyond my comprehension to put into words. I also was able to see this "place" sort of from a far away and kind of above perspective and it looked like a turned cube. it looked kind of like an angel with open wings.

It is interesting to me that folks often want 'proof' of these experiences. But think about that for a moment: can we prove or explain something that is un-understandable anyway? Can you prove that radio waves exist by turning a radio on? It is as difficult as trying to explain the colours of a rainbow to someone who is blind and has been blind from birth. How do we describe something that can only be experienced? For which the non experiencer has no yardstick to measure and weight against? And for this reason nobody will ever convert a skeptic by way of convincing them with 'proof', because these experiences cannot be proven. I suppose a person can decide whether someone is lying or not, or always dismiss these experiences as some other thing (electrical activity etc), but maybe some people will simply decide to believe these people. I had a similar experience, and I am simply unable to express how much we are all loved - there are no words at all, and no words to describe the understanding that goes with the experience (I don't think I am able to recapture it internally anyway, let alone convey it accurately to someone else).Anyway, one thing I do remember - it doesn't matter. Everything just 'is' anyway. Everything is perfectly the way it should be. Sorry for the windy non explanation, it's futile to try, and frustrating too.

Hello. Please read this article: "Asphyxia-activated corticocardiac signaling accelerates onset of cardiac arrest", in the 2015, Apr 21 edition of Pubmed. This study shows that the loss of oxygen during an NDE stimulates a robust and sustained increase of functional and effective cortical connectivity. The researchers found that “the brain is much more active during the dying process than in the waking state." In the 30-second period after the heart stops beating, the researchers "observed an immediate release of more than a dozen neurochemicals, while high-frequency brainwaves called gamma oscillations increased." An elevated level of brain activity is what gives rise to a heightened state of consciousness, including the visions experienced by survivors of cardiac arrest. A surge in oxytocin (the love hormone) is what gives the sensation of unconditional love; surges in epinephrine is what gives the sensation of "heightened awareness"; the light is caused by "noise" in the visual cortex, etc. Science shows us that NDEs are a chemical experience, not a spiritual experience, and certainly not a glimpse into a spiritual universe. Peace.

If there is a non-physical reality - how can it be explained by physical laws? I could make a model that could explain it and include mathematical equations - but it would not assure its accuracy. Physicists are starting to talk about realty as information. See - the world science festival - If you have a model it should explain all anomalies that occur in reality not just one. See Donald Hoffman from the University of California, Irvine - Try to have an open mind and consider all possibilities as opposed to believing a theory because it sounds good or supports your beliefs.

Do not judge those who have committed suicide. I was terrorized for years by the mob in an attempt to forcibly recruit me, maybe, or maybe they were just being sadistic. My soul means more to me than my physical life thus I would not acquiesce and become a member of their criminal organization. I could not experience a normal life constantly having to deal with their assaults; some minor, some quite harmful. I continually went to law enforcement for help and to expose these criminal’s activities. I was then told if I did not stop going to law
enforcement I would be killed. I got a gun (I'd never before owned a gun, they're horrible things) believing that shooting myself was preferable to be killed in a way that they would choose to do so. Without going into detail, I survived; partially because I got help and partially because I was too frightened to follow through. At the time I thought of young people bullied to death and understood. I have no idea how a young person has the courage to end their lives. I didn’t. Don’t judge.

      Leslie
What these people don't tell you is that death is a lie. Read the book "Hands of Light" written by the physicist Barbara Brennan. She is not the only physicist that writes conscious light waves are at the core of reality. NOTHING is solid. SO, if death is dependent on solidity, which it is, then death IS A LIE.
What has happened to this reality is that people have ignored quantum physics, then they went ahead anyway and built hospitals, schools and colleges. These are built on lies. Atoms spin as light, total light, and nothing but light, conscious light.
From the book "The Quantum World" written by the physicist Ford, I found these words: 'magically bursting forth are quarks spinning billions of times a second as 3 points of light, forming what are called protons and neutrons.'
This means our whole universe is saturated with conscious light, constantly being created by conscious light. This whole reality is constantly created by conscious light. Atoms are constantly spinning into form with the intent of conscious light.
I was severely abused by all of you as a child. All of you said that those light beings I heard and saw and felt were not real. All of you bullied me so much that I became anti social. I have yet to be married and my birth certificate says I am 63 years old. BUT I know that I am an eternal energy being and that this constantly creating me conscious light is my mother and father. These beings saved me when none of you would. You callous, uncaring people that think you know it all.
All of you are just horrible with your death beliefs. You would rather see someone in agony than let them go back home to that light, which they already are. The only difference between this reality and the reality of light that is our home is whether our light is bunched up into frequencies or not. When we leave these bodies we instantly know and see that we are conscious light waves and always have been

It's perfect, God has made it so we can't hack anybody else's experience. If we have the realization and the experience, it can't be given to anybody else without them themselves experiencing it.

Former atheists? I was a devout Catholic at the time of my NDE (back in 1973). The NDE was pretty much the first step toward my leaving Christianity and abandoning any theistic belief. It took me almost 20 years to get there, but looking back it is clear the NDE was the trigger. And while I reject the label of me being an atheist (I do not believe in any god(s) but suspect, based on that very NDE, that our consciousness probably survives physical death at least for some unspecified length of time), I do not see why someone who accepts that label would necessarily have to reject it after an NDE.
Other than that, I completely agree it is impossible to describe the NDE in words to those who have not had one yet because there simply is no common frame of reference.

I had a very near-fatal car accident when I was 31. A guy in his big company car hit me from behind while he was doing close to 100 mph. I remember the initial impact, it was like time slowed down and I was in an alternate reality. My car left the road, went over the crash barrier and hit the tress on the other side of the barrier which redirected the car back onto the road. The car slid down the road on its side for quite some distance before coming to a stop. The crash had caused my head to impact with part of the metal car body leaving a large scar on the right side of my head. I know I was unconscious for quite some time and when I came around, all I knew was that I had to get out. I tried to kick out the windscreen which by some miracle, was still in one piece. That didn't work so I had to climb to reach the driver side door which was above me. I fell to the road surface noticing the warm feeling emanating from the right side of my head, I put my hand to the area and my fingers literally went inside the scar which was seeping blood. Walking back down the road, it felt like I was in another world and nothing made any sense.

an old friend had a "near death experience " when she was younger ! she had an accident , and was being worked on by the doctors in the emergency room ,when her heart stopped beating . suddenly she was nolonger on the table , she was being carried by unseen beings down a long dark tunnel towards a huge iron door . the closer they got the colder it became , she said you could feel the fear emanating from the door , just as they reached the door , she found herself awake on the table once again surrounded by doctors and nurses ,who told her she was going to be ok ! not exactly the "nde "we usually hear about !

Having researched NDE’s over the past 34 years, there are two experiences that can happen. One is of the heavenly kind and the other, is unfortunately the uglier one. If I were your friend, I would be putting more of my focus on Jesus Christ, read the Bible, Pray daily etc. There is absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. 🙏🏻

NDE's are real. If everyone had one there would be more compassion in the world. Like Mr. Geraci said you feel complete love and peace. Its that love that changes you. It makes you appreciate life.

I have committed on this a lot,as I to have had a similar experience,. Mr Geraci has explained this amazing phenomenon so true and accurately. I am not going to put N.D.E . in a religious concept.this is so much more ,I believe this existence we are in is like a place to learn and when we fail as in school ,we must take the course again until we get it right.also there is a joyous feeling that never fades. As for taken your own Life,Don'tEver , Ever, stoop that low . You are Loved ❤️😔🌈😊

Suicide might be only answer and if we are all God his telling us the same... It doesn't mean you want to do it to yourself that's fear...
