The easiest way to get Downy Crake is during the HR 3 quest "Gettin' Yolked in the Waste". Go to the location with the eggs where 3 Apceros are waiting. Put on your ghille mantle and face the wall while crouching(Don't look at the Apceros!). Then you just wait until you start hearing them chirp, which will indicate that they have spawned and can be captured.

Funny story about Downy Crake is that i just found them by accident. Was just looking for the emerald helmcrab (which i manage to catch!) and i suddenly heard some chirping. I stop and when i was by some bushes, i saw some white fluffy things that was just running for it, and because i had my net equip and without thinking i just shot it out and caught two of them and got a trophy of it... so basically i got REALLY lucky~
I was battling a Diablos, I got knocked down and look to the right and saw those little guys running away. I panicked cause I never saw that before and quickly equip my net and catch it, luckily I caught 3 of them.
Ok, so yeah for more info on a couple of the pets, the pilot hare can also spawn at night in wildspire waste almost right outside camp 1. the dapper coral bird, i was lucky enough to find it also immediately after jumping down from camp 1 during the day in coral highlands. As for the queen, it took some time, i feel she spawns in multiple places, as does the dapper coral bird (i'm guessing i was just lucky) and it does spawn at night, and where i caught it was area 3 where all of those wigglers spawn on that slope

Yes that's the one and it only appears during the night. I also recently foung a Bristly Crake which very, VERY rarely appears on the backs of mosswines. The Bristly Crake is one of the rare pets which gives you a trophy/achievement.

I also found a Moonlight Gecko in the Rotten Vale and Elder Recess. It has a pink glow on it back. You can also get a Petricanth in a fishing spot in one of the lowest parts of Rotten Vale, area 15. It's also a rare pet which gives you a trophy.

woodland pteryx is one of my favorite birds,it can jump tree to tree and land on the side of a tree,in your house it can be on the ground or on your colum jumping from white colum to brown colum,and the blissbill which is use to humans and easy to catch,the golden fish which is from a fishing quest,the sushi,blast and hopguppy for the fish and the climbing perch of course that dives into the pool,i mean pond, and the beaitiful floating jellys flying meduso's
Ocho Muerte from what I can't tell, just luck, I'm not quite sure on what time of day, but It seems to spawn in any area that has flocks of coral birds
I tend to find it from camp 1. Jump down from camp, run left then up the step and its sat in front of the pink coral tree with the females. I think its just luck instead of time of day. But it isnt too rare.

I know this is 2 years ago... But um... Just wanna let you know, i put 3 petricanths to my pond, 2 flying meduso at the sky, augerfly and phantom flutterfly to the garden, 1 prism beetle xD and oh! U can put a downy crake on the garden too where he sits by bench with you? And ummm 1 Bristle Crake by the Hearth 💕 u can also put the Queen Wriggler by the pot... She hids tho if u come closer to her
I particularly enjoy the Pteropterix(probably misspelled that): Their like raptor chickens, you can find them in the Ancient Forest gliding between trees in area 11, in fact there's a side quest to catch them from the wildlife professor.
Hey Maddie, so uhh just want to let you know you missed both the Bristly Crake and the Petricanths, along with the Goldenfish, all of which are located in Rotten Vale (P.S. wear your Gillie Mantel they can get scared off easily, and don't get fooled by Goldenfish faking his bite. they are located in area 15 if I remember correctly, you'll find them all in the blue pools to the left of the Odogaron lair)
yup, but using the L1 square/O trick is better while fighting since you can move and even sprint while cycling through instead of being forced to stand still and potentially get hit
Vigorwasps and flashflies are pets to, there's also a giant vigorwasp in the ancient forest. Wildspire gekko in the waste and gloom gekko in the rotten vale also scavantula which are spiders that hang out by bonepiles in the rotten vale. Tyrant hopper also in the rotten vale, I find them pretty much everywhere in the rotten vale, but mostly near plants. Haven't found any pets in elder's recess yet if any
Try to catch all animals in the game and you'll get a unique guild card background! But don't forget that several of the fishes also have large variations that are as rare as the petricanth.
@Maddie Lullaby - Did you ever realize that you wore the Gillie mantle during your captures? Wearing them makes you invisible to all creatures. You can literally get up to any creatures face and they will not see you no matter the distance. Great videos, keep up the good work.
I find this hilarious cause when I heard about these rare birds I was on a quest and I happen to pass some herbivores some, so I sneaked and heard them tweeting and caught two in the end

you should get the big fat crake on rotten vale at zone 15 put your gillie mantle then go find the pig there he's on the back of the pig plus you can get a rare fish there to on the water just use you scope and look for it but its hard cause you need to reload the map to spot both either of them.

I caught one in the ancient forest (area 5). They are more red (head) in color than the regular version and I guess they spawn randomly? But I remember that I got mine at daytime.
ur missing quite a few. some i can think of from top of my head, woodland pterax, forest pterax (rare version purplish in colour, only ever found and caught 1), goldenfry, platinum and gold arowana, tuna, swordfish, augurfly, bristly crake, queen wiggler, fossil fish, the male coralbird black and purple in colour. those are just some i can think of
I was unaware that those bird things were rare i had ine since the beginning i just caught the rabbit thing and ran down then a flock of those white puffballs swarmed me so naturally i shot my net and caught 2 of them i thought they were common things the animal im hunting is a black bird thing i seent it on a pig when i was doing the plunderers side mission but i didnt have my net equipped and it got away so far it has not reappeared in my game

Try finding a giant vigorwasp. I found one fighting the anjanoth and used it to replenish my health before I knew you can capture these small creatures.

You can also get Augurflies that appear randomly in similar locations to Omenflies whenever it is raining.

There is also a Bristly Crake that can be found on the back of mossswines in the roten vale.
This also can be found on the back of gastadons in Elder's Recess

Pro tip: if your aiming thing turns from gray to orange it means you can catch the thing, if it's still gray you're gonna miss

Downy Crakes also have a chance to spawn on top of Grandfather Mantagrells by the cliffs where Legiana tends to be.

Coral Highlands is by far my favorite. There are tons of secrets that you can find.

Just as where you caught them, Downy Crake will prefer high places, thus, the top of the Harp and the cabinet shelf.

Tip: You don't have to hold L1 and press square/O to scroll through items. You can just use on the D-pad.

With Alot of pets you actually have to wear a Gille mantle to capture them and you have to leave your palico behind
After I saw this video, I went into the Ancient Forrest, I found a downy drake on the first one I saw, and caught 4+ downy drakes.

You can't walk to close to wigglers with it tho but all you need is to crouch to get wiggler and not run into it

You've missed queen wiggler but that might be one of the only ones you have missed
I forgot which area it was, but there's a red-faced version of woodland pteryx called forest pteryx that you can catch in the Ancient Forest.

there is a cylecant i dont know if i spelled that right lol, in the rotten vale. but it rarely shows up, but it's there.
pro tip gillie suite will help you get closer without scaring them.
