This game needs a massive update. Fix local multiplayer so that it's split screen! Fix the bosses so that they don't take 5 hours to beat! Fix some of the bosses so that they aren't jank as all hell! How the hell did I die to the press factory boss by getting smushed on the non-existent ceiling? And for the love of God, fix the spin dash physics! Also, can we please shorten the load times on the Nintendo switch version?! How come there is no background loading during gameplay? Developers got that right as early as Grand theft Auto San Andreas on the PS2!
Well, that was certainly a playthrough. All I can say is, can't wait for the Mario Wonder Playthrough, I'm sure this will be a lot less stressful to play through than this
Tip for the final boss: look at the missile patterns when he's launching them because if the blue missile is on the LEFT, you need to go left to find it. When you know that, the fight is so much easier
The fight goes from long to short in seconds. Everytime you face and run with the missile on what side you are guaranteed to immediately run into it as you keep moving.
Unfortunately it took me a good hour to realise it. After the first three hits, you can use Avatar to essentially finish it off too so the boss isn't that bad honestly

To answer John's "where do I know banking rings from?" it was a mechanic in Sonic Dash, every spring you would multiply and bank the product of that multiplication so you could buy stuff with the rings.

Mario Wonder's multiplayer is great because of ONE specific thing... The camera stays on one person until that person dies or is not the first at the flagpole. And nobody can be away from the camera, so nobody can run off.
You can get off-screened in Mario Wonder...what are you talking about? There just has to be something in the way, like in every other NSMB game with co-op. And being honest, not being able to run off screen wouldn't improve Sonic Superstars co-op at all, it would potentially make it worse.

This playthrough was super fun to watch to be honest I didn't think the multiplayer would be this bad but after seeing this playthrough I can see why. Each character is riding the Egg Mobiles from the games they were introduced in. However, Amy's is from the Tidal Tempest Zone boss. Trip does get one, but it's based off Angel Island Zone's boss.

I don't remember that jerky floor glitching stuff when I did single player on my Steam Deck. Maybe it's bugged on whichever console version you're playing. I never even tried to hit the head in the floating phase. Never realized I could. I just turtled behind the step and waited for other hit phases.

Cyber Station has a unique gimmick whatever battle bot you created becomes the Boss of this Zone. Ridley appears in Frozen Base Act 1, watch out buddy a Bounty Hunter is after you. Nice homage to Fantasy Zone and the final zone reverses time and you head all the way back to the beginning. Meanwhile final boss Timmy Turner "RE-DO" Sonic pilots the standard Sonic 1 Eggmobile with the wings. Amy pilots the Sonic CD Tidal Tempest Eggmobile who has a bubble shield. Tails pilots the Sonic 2 Eggmobile with it's slicker design. Knuckles pilots the Sonic 3 Eggmobile which first appears in Hydrocity Zone Act 2. Trip uses the Flame Craft Boss from Sonic 3 Angel Island Zone Act 2. The End is in the background for no reason. Egg Fortress reuses three segments three times. The strat with the missiles is if the blue missile's coming from the left of the background go left if it's on the right side run right. To show how terrible it gets with the multiplayer just look at 45:00 To prevent that from happening don't skip the cutscene for phase 2 as it'll lock you in that spot.
pretty fun LP but while the wild shit because of the co-op was funny, it's a shame the co-op makes the game which is actually good look a lot worse than it is, like I fully beaten the game in solo and I had no where close to the amount of issues & bugs you guys had, it should of had the split screen from battle mode. Also 54:43 Johnny I know you were kinda doing a compare to Origins Plus but the patch that came out when the Plus DLC released was free, you didn't had to buy the DLC for that patch & the one that came later, still I hope the game gets a free patch to make the co-op better to player and actually do free content updates like Frontiers did, though I wouldn't mind paid DLC if the content in it is mostly if not fully original. One last thing, I find it funny that the Sonic series is doing a marketing campaign that is themed around friendship and the major game released during it has the worst co-op mode ever to a point where you guys were getting mad.
Trip’s Final Boss is a bitch and a half… Not only is it a slog, but it’s multi-phase, and if you die in the later phases, you have to start again from the BEGINNING… I wound up using a glitch to just skip the fight… Granted, I didn’t get to play the credits mini game for extra medals because I never even SAW the credits that way, but it was a necessary sacrifice…

I think what's funny to me about this game and multiplayer was that That was kinda a selling point of this game, or something they wanted to be the star of the show. If you look at the trailers, you will see all the instances of fun multiplayer with friends... but this game does look like it wasn't even optimized that well FOR multiplayer, which is funny and bizarre for me.
there is absolutely no way this game was playtested one bit in co-op. that said, i do not like Sonic Superstars very much at all, but i am so happy it exists because it gave us this playthough!
one thing I noticed about the off screen missiles is that if eggman shoots them from the left side of his mech it'll always spawn to the left of you same for the right off screen missiles
I never seen this before since I only did a solo run of the main campaign with Sonic but the fact that all the characters not only get different Egg Mobiles but the Egg Mobile design from their debut game (Sonic 1 Egg Mobile for Sonic, CD Egg Mobile for Amy, Sonic 2 Egg Mobile for Tails and S3&K Egg Mobile for Knuckles) is a very cool touch (even though I have to wonder which Egg Mobile does Trip get when you play the main campaign as her?). I freaking love Egg Fortress as a final zone for this game. Act 1's theme is so good (even though I wish it was more than a 20 seconds loop) and Act 2's gimmick is very creative. The final boss of the main campaign is good if a bit long (music's great, though) but I wish there was a checkpoint between the 2 phases because, on your first run, this boss (like Trip's story's final boss) can be brutal
I actually found the True Final Boss more manageable than whatever the hell was Trip's final boss. Just hope the rings appearing from recurring friends are in your favour.

Greg was the most miserable, and Elliot was the most prone to anger. Also, Greg fumbled that anti gravity hit on eggman too
I believe John had an okay-ish time with this as well, despite throwing most of the blame with the game to the multiplayer experience.

To answer John's "where do I know banking rings from?" it was a mechanic in Sonic Dash, every spring you would multiply and bank the product of that multiplication so you could buy stuff with the rings.
For such a crappy multi-player experience, this was a very fun playthrough.

Mario Wonder's multiplayer is great because of ONE specific thing...
The camera stays on one person until that person dies or is not the first at the flagpole.
And nobody can be away from the camera, so nobody can run off.
You can get off-screened in Mario Wonder...what are you talking about?
There just has to be something in the way, like in every other NSMB game with co-op. And being honest, not being able to run off screen wouldn't improve Sonic Superstars co-op at all, it would potentially make it worse.
The one dash level in Shining Falls might be troublesome if the gang don't stick together.

This playthrough was super fun to watch to be honest I didn't think the multiplayer would be this bad but after seeing this playthrough I can see why. And I thought the likes of the new Super Mario Bros had the worst multiplayer. I'm pretty sure the single-player of this game would be fun to play.... until the bosses but thank you guys for giving us this chaotic let's play of Sonic Superstars. Man, it’s says something that a game that sells its self, on the cover, as a multiplayer game, would have such bad multiplayer, but a decent single player, and this part really is the culmination of it… now to rewatch from the start for even more laughs!
Each character is riding the Egg Mobiles from the games they were introduced in. However, Amy's is from the Tidal Tempest Zone boss.
Trip does get one, but it's based off Angel Island Zone's boss.

The actual rings aren't that useful in Sonic Dash, compared to the red rings, which cost money outside of a single one in a trail.
13:25 - One of the mobile games, maybe? You could bank rings mid-level in Sonic Jump (if you find the safe), all that goes towards buying power-ups you could use you help yourself out during levels.

Ridley appears in Frozen Base Act 1, watch out buddy a Bounty Hunter is after you.
Nice homage to Fantasy Zone and the final zone reverses time and you head all the way back to the beginning.

pretty fun LP but while the wild shit because of the co-op was funny, it's a shame the co-op makes the game which is actually good look a lot worse than it is, like I fully beaten the game in solo and I had no where close to the amount of issues & bugs you guys had, it should of had the split screen from battle mode. Also 54:43 Johnny I know you were kinda doing a compare to Origins Plus but the patch that came out when the Plus DLC released was free, you didn't had to buy the DLC for that patch & the one that came later, still I hope the game gets a free patch to make the co-op better to player and actually do free content updates like Frontiers did, though I wouldn't mind paid DLC if the content in it is mostly if not fully original. One last thing, I find it funny that the Sonic series is doing a marketing campaign that is themed around friendship and the major game released during it has the worst co-op mode ever to a point where you guys were getting mad.
Trip’s Final Boss is a bitch and a half… Not only is it a slog, but it’s multi-phase, and if you die in the later phases, you have to start again from the BEGINNING… I wound up using a glitch to just skip the fight… Granted, I didn’t get to play the credits mini game for extra medals because I never even SAW the credits that way, but it was a necessary sacrifice…

one thing I noticed about the off screen missiles is that if eggman shoots them from the left side of his mech it'll always spawn to the left of you same for the right off screen missiles
I never seen this before since I only did a solo run of the main campaign with Sonic but the fact that all the characters not only get different Egg Mobiles but the Egg Mobile design from their debut game (Sonic 1 Egg Mobile for Sonic, CD Egg Mobile for Amy, Sonic 2 Egg Mobile for Tails and S3&K Egg Mobile for Knuckles) is a very cool touch (even though I have to wonder which Egg Mobile does Trip get when you play the main campaign as her?).
I freaking love Egg Fortress as a final zone for this game. Act 1's theme is so good (even though I wish it was more than a 20 seconds loop) and Act 2's gimmick is very creative.
The final boss of the main campaign is good if a bit long (music's great, though) but I wish there was a checkpoint between the 2 phases because, on your first run, this boss (like Trip's story's final boss) can be brutal
