@LucasThePhantomThief The one complaint I see aside from not having The Answer at launch and no Kotone is how much easier it is, which was admittedly a problem I had with it too.
This has nothing to do with anything, but X6 makes me remember this. One year, I think for St Patrick's Day, Clement played Super Meat Boy. Every time he died, he took a shot of whiskey. (Cherry whiskey, if I recall correctly) Several shots later, near the end of the video. Clement just starts breaking down screaming, "I HATE MEGAMAN X6!!!". In his drunken state, the one thing that surfaced was his hatred for X6.
1. Yeah, it's cherry whiskey. 2. Clement got so wasted that he can't go on anymore and had to finish the game once he sobered up. And yeah, *"I HATE MEGA MAN X6!"* will never get old...
It gets even better: When Johnny did his review he opened up by saying "Unlike a certain someone I have enough sense to not make a drinking game out of it!" followed with a clip of Clement on the floor saying that. He finished with one of his most memorable quotes imo _"Ha-Ha... Poor asshole."_
They don't explain it very well in English, but this game does take place with the infected Zero ending of X5. Also, you are not wrong about your theory of Dr. Light John. The actual translation of "I hid myself to repair myself" actually says "Not sure, when I came to I was already repaired." That line drives me nuts.
I thought it took place after the colony destroyed ending, hence X having Zero's saber - they just went 'Whoops, parts of the colony still fell to Earth and wrecked everything anyway".
@@ThatGuy-tc6uv I believe the maverick Zero ending is the one where the colony does collide with the earth. In all the endings, X ends up with Zero's Saber.
@@Autumchild The colony collides with Earth in the Maverick Zero ending, but in that ending, Dr. Light essentially wipes X's memories of Zero. The colony destroyed ending is the one where X ends up with Zero's saber. Despite that, X6 retcons it so that the explosion from the Eurasia colony still damages the Earth, despite it being destroyed.
@@ThatGuy-tc6uv Then can you explain to me why in the maverick zero ending of X5, X still remembers Zero before the credits and still clutches Zero's saber?
@@Autumchild He doesn't: In the Maverick Zero ending, after defeating Sigma, Dr. Light reprograms X to remove/block all of his memories of Zero. It cuts to X helping to the Maverick Hunters rebuild while the support tea muse about what happened. It ends with X saying that he wants to create "Elysium", where humans and reploids can co-exist. You might be thinking of the final credit image, which uses the image of X with Zero's saber from the other X ending (where Zero didn't go maverick), but that isn't part of the Maverick Zero ending itself.
While he had no involvement with the game at all, Keiji Inafune was obviously not happy with X6. This extended beyond the lackluster gameplay, since its existence also caused canonicity issues with his work on the Zero series at the time. In Mega Man X: Official Complete Works, he outright apologized for the game ever happening. "I had honestly planned for 'X5' to be the last title in the series, but somehow I found myself with 'X6.' I feel like I owe the fans an apology, but I have to admit the series was starting to go in a direction that was out of my control. I plan to reexamine the situation and be more careful with how I handle the Mega Man name from now on."
I've also heard that the reason for the hasty and lack of bigness that is Zero returning is because Inafune was a dumbass who forgot he KILLED Zero before the MMZ series.
The original opening actually uses 2 songs: X5 recap is "Moonlight" and X6 preview is "The Answer", both performed by Showtaro Morikubo aka X's voice actor from X5 to X7. The ending song I.D.E.A. is performed by RoST, their members being Hideo Ishikawa (Blizzard Wolfang/Rainy Turtloid), Rumi Kasahara (Alia) and Shin'ichiro Miki (Blaze Heatnix).
Actually, he's the VA of X from X5 to X7... X4 was Kentaro Ito who voiced Omega-Xis in the Star Force anime... And from X8 onwards is Takahiro Sakurai aka Cloud since Last Order: Final Fantasy VII...
The licensed intro song may've been cut from this version, but it' still plays on the old Mega Man X collection for the GC and PS2! "I'm on the wire, I'll never go down I just know, just know the answer"
18:14 this is one of the alia hints items since you notice there's 2 platroms stacked on top of eachother... well if you go to the lowest platform alia will call you but she won't answer and X/Zero will say "Why do i feel a breeze from behind"
@@Tjoeb123Yeah, I have to agree. Sonic Adventure 3 (I'm still calling it that. Nananananana!) was at least an ambitious title that lived up to its promise of having a grand scale. X6 was just a cashgrab that would've still been bad even without the rushed development.
The game IS fixable. There's this hack called Mega Man X6 Tweaks, that fixes most of the problems X6 has. Examples of what it does: -Health and energy upgrades are shared: if either character gets them, both receive their benefits; -Most hostages have been removed, leaving only the ones who actually have parts and upgrades; -Shadow Armor has an AIR DASH now; -Zero's Sentsuizan is no longer mapped to Up + Square, so no more accidental activations during Infinity Mijinion's secret area; -You unlock both Black Zero and Ultimate Armor in the game itself, by increasing your rank, and the souls dropped by the Nightmares give more points. That's all I remember from what I played... anyway, I recommend it. Oh, for the record, the issue about unlocking Black Zero Matt was talking about, you need to fight Nightmare Zero with a rank PA or higher, which requires 5000 Nightmare souls... but when you collect 3000 of them, it triggers a cutscene where Alia reveals Gate's backstory, which also unlocks Gate's Lab, thus locking the player out of the Nightmare Zero fight.
@@DirectorOfChaos9292 read anything done by Bethesda in the last decade or so. That said, the game looks cool at least and the story is decent enough, barring the zero stuff
@@alexfischer7876 I would LOVE to see an X game take place during the Elf Wars honestly, we only know what happened during that due to other sources of information (though it is in pretty good detail). But being able to play as X and Zero with a mix of enemies from the X and Zero games would be awesome.
The one thing most folks don't realize is that after 1 stage the 'nightmare system' will always be active whether or not the stage is red at the stage select. It being red just lets you know that it's going to have diff. 'nightmare effect' than usual. Matt wasn't getting hurt by the lasers because only the ends of the lasers have a hitbox, you can walk through them as long as you don't touch the ends.
I remember when I was a kid and I saw this game in Toys R Us and I loved the cover with X holding the Z Saber and asked my mom to get it for me. I stopped because it was so hard.
There is one thing I know from the director of X6 Koji Okohara. He also directed X5, Megaman Xtreme 1 and Xtreme 2. He also directed Megaman 2 up to Megaman 6. He was a planner for X4, Megaman Power Fighters and Power Battle, as well as X7. X7 was the last game he worked on while working for Capcom.
Continuing with series that were always implied to come eventually are what I've been looking forward to the most since your guys' revival. Metal Gear, the fabled co-op Resident Evil 5 playthrough, Kingdom Hearts and Pokemon for whenever you guys have it in you to do something longer after FF7, and of course the Mega Man games too. X6 feels like a game that you should have done ages ago, so it's nice to finally see it.
Matt is actually wrong about the dead game scenario regarding reploids dying with parts. The only mandatory part for X is "Jumper", the reploid that holds it is nowhere near any Nightmare creatures, and so they cannot die. Weirdly this is actually one of my most played X games, to the point I've actually learned how to beat Gate 2 with the Shadow armour. I actually really enjoy how many ways there are to play this game, and the fact it's possible to reach Gate's lab without defeating all 8 mavericks. It's definitely not a good game, but I've learned how to make it fun. There's also the X6 "N's edition" mod which fixes a lot of issues and actually gives this game real level design.
This is truly what the SGB Renaissance has been building up to. Very excited for this one! I've been wanting to see an X6 LP on this channel for close to a decade now.
Nightmare System Entering a Maverick Stage affects one to three other stages permanently, unless another Nightmare Effect is triggered that affects the same stage. So if you go Infinity Mijinion, that causes Blackouts for Rainy Turtloid and Commander Yammark. To remove the Blackouts, for Rainy Turtloid you go to Shield Sheldon and for Commander Yammark you go to Rainy Turtloid. Effects are below: Infinity Mijinion: Blackouts for Rainy Turtloid and Commander Yammark Commander Yammark: Dragonflies for Shield Sheldon and Blaze Heatnix Rainy Turtloid: Windy Rain for Commander Yammark and Ground Scaravich Blaze Heatnix: Raining Fireballs for Blizzard Wolfang and Infinity Mijinion Shield Sheldon: Soul Body Clones for Rainy Turtloid and Blizzard Wolfang
Blizzard Wolfang: Icy Floors for Metal Shark Player Ground Scaravich: Barrier Blocks for Metal Shark Player and Shield Sheldon Metal Shark Player: Moving Metal Blocks for Infinity Mijinion, Ground Scaravich, and Blaze Heatnix Parts Equipping a certain number of Parts depends on Rank, which depends on a character's Nightmare Soul count, capping at UH Rank with 9999 Nightmare Souls, allowing both X and Zero to equip up to 4 Parts and 1 EX Part. For those wondering, the Jumper Part is past a spike pit in Blizzard Wolfang's Nightmare Zone, so the Reploid holding it can not be killed. X Saber It is also worth noting X with the Saber can also SDC, which you need to know to make it usable. For those not in the know, SDC is Saber Dash Cancel/Slash Dash Cancel which is a Zero speedrun technique in the PS1 X games, cancelling his Saber with a Dash and using the Saber again immediately after, which X has now inherited.
Oh, goody! It's that game I'm still to this day hesitant on playing for myself. That being said, SGB's Mega Man X Let's Plays are always gold so this should be a fun ride ^^
Been waiting for this! I do actually miss the old intro song in the PS1 version. It was pretty cool, and X actually sung it (which I remember Johnny mentioned back in the BSC playthrough, which is a classic).
I want to say that while Eurasia was effectively stopped from bringing about a total apocalypse, the debris from it is still coming down. It's like reducing the 100,000 Needles attack to 10,000 Needles. That would still ravage the planet here and there severely. Better to lose a city than the entire world.
When the shuttle fails, that's exactly what happens: the pieces of the colony fall on Earth and destroy everything. The only difference between that outcome and X6 is that Zero doesn't "awaken" and they defeat Sigma together, and thus Light doesn't have to wipe out and block X's memories of Zero when repairing him.
To elaborate on what Matt said at the end, it's actually the worst of both worlds: You need 3000 to open Gate's lab and 5000 to level up the Zero Nightmare to the necessary level. Either way, that's a shitton of souls.
Ahhhh. Classic finally doing X6. A game I swore through the Mandela effect for years that Matt and Johnny already did years ago. Honestly, I don't say this sarcastically, I still love the old SGB tradition of someone saying "my next game for the channel will be such and such" and then doing a completely randomly opposite game next time we see them lol. Matt does it the most and it's always fun to see his spontaneousness (ADHD) in action
I finished this game again not too long ago and it ain't that bad, I rescued all reploids and got all collectibles in one sitting. In the first half of the game I played as X and then I unlocked Zero, which I used until the end. Didn't need to use any codes, either, I guess I just got used to how this game operates. Also, Zero repairing himself doesn't surprise me when the Toa Mata in Bionicle assembled themselves from a bunch of pieces.
Level design is one of the most important aspects of any game. Doesn't matter how perfect it has to be, just make it at least solid enough. X6 doesn't do that well.
@@jaretco6423 It's really good with a ton of customization options down to specific things like altering frame data of X and Zero's saber swings. Notably, you have the option to remove the nightmare effects and Zero's moveset has been modified so that he doesn't fly straight down when pressing up and attack (and it's cancellable now too). Also the option for a better translated script, the original color palette of X's ultimate armor, and other quality of life changes. Highly recommend.
do miss that about moonlight being cut from legacy collection as i loved the feel capcom's vocal themes gave for the world with the story concept/commercial of x6 showing x protecting the world from a new threat while missing his best friend. 21:55 with how rushed x6 is really think that is what nightmare zero was going to be a possessed by the nightmare zero that isoc sent(dr. light didn't repair him he doesn't know zero's schematics he only did that for x at x5's end/it's implied the nightmare is an attempt to recreate the zero virus from x5 that also messed with reality in the final levels.) with how gates lab is the destroyed eurasia colony remains & also in dialogue it's heavily implied isoc is dr. wily's spirit in a new body(possibly made during x5 to create sigma's body in exchange.) considering they both have the same jp voice.
The PS1 version uses 2 J-Rock songs as it opening, moonlight and the answer both by showtaro morikubo the japanese voice actor for X since X5. He also was the singer for the song monkey the opening theme song for X5
(In a singsongy tone) Johnny, I'm sorry, you lost. Johnny, I'm sorry, you lost your mind. But what if I told you, you made it? That this is the life you chose? Would you even believe it, Johnny, do you believe in ghosts? What if I told you a story to settle all the dust. He's still the bot you trust. It's Inevitable for us.
This is something I was greatly looking forward to since SGB came back for all the wrong reasons. I played this game for the first time on the Legacy Collection and at first I didn’t think it was that bad. But the more I played it, the more infuriating it became and it’s the only Mega Man game I ever raged quit.
12:54 imo you notice the difference in challenging vs difficult to do with anything when you get older. Somethings are just hard for all the wrong reasons, that's difficult for me.
18:13 So its still bs but the way your supposed to know thats there is when youre close an exclamation point pops up and if you hit select X goes "I feel a breeze from this wall."
X8 references things that happened before but doesn't technically play off of any previous games, aside from having Axl who's the only good thing to come from X7. Layer (the sexualized reploid navigator with the underboob) asks X why Zero seems upset and he tells her about what happened in X5, for example.
22:43 My personal theory and one I share with some friends is that Isoc repaired Zero. A common theory based on his appearance, fascination with Zero vs disdain for X, and somewhat random "death" by his Reploid consciousness/"soul" simply leaving his body is that Isoc is a Robotic Avatar or successor to Wily, following on X4 alluding to Zero's Origin and X5 having implications that Wily or his word goaded Sigma to bring Zero's evil persona out with the Virus. I took this to be a step further where Isoc restores Zero rather than let him be destroyed while X continues (which would make Light's creation superior), and Gate's obsession with Zero's DNA continuing from X5's Sigma fixation on making Zero go Maverick.
Every few years since 20I2, I make a habit to return to Rockman X 06 to do an All Reploids run on Xtreme as Ultimate Armour X, most of the run is spent going for Rank UH (Ultimate Hunter) and while I end up having to test the RNG of Ground Scaravich before I go into the Gate/Sigma stages it is genuine fun trying to remember the fastest route to get to 9999; it must be noted though that this run must be done completely as X Alone in order to get the ending that is most in line with the plot of X 07 and onwards (for those unfamiliar, this means you have to complete the game without ever unlocking Zero), as Zero pretty much showing up late in this particular ending delivers all that the player needs to know as to why the later two entries (this excludes Cyber Command Mission) ended up in the way that they did for storytelling, I am genuinely happy that Clement showed off this as an extra in his commentary back when he did this because it is a welcoming challenge when compared to the X & Zero and Zero Alone runs and in many ways it helps deliver a sense of optimism for having gone through the brutality that the unpolished Retail Build has been notorious for.
"Lol x6" aside, the amount of suffering here will be proportional to how much Matt/Johnny cheat Answer: very I assume this IS the x5 good ending because even in the original x5 good ending, it was implied that the colony remains still fucked up earth beyond creating that crater, things just weren't outright apocalyptic. Still, this does lean on more damage from the remains crashing than the good ending had implied I feel like it should be mentioned that even without cheating, the game basically never expects you to have a vanilla x but assumes he will ALWAYS have at least the falcon armor....that said the falcon armor is still nerfed from x5 and has some weak aspects, and the level design is still utter dogshit and I'm relatively sure you still can't beat gate 1 or 2 without the right parts for it. (Also the fact that the game outright doesn't even design with vanilla x in mind because it auto gives you falcon armor from the start is ...eh, when at least x5 assumed you COULD miss the fourth/force armor) Since Uncle interrupted somewhat, it should be said that it's not just very likely you will be at gate's lab by the time you get the nightmare souls necessary to unlock the reward for a high level nightmare zero fight--getting the nightmare soul number to that amount OUTRIGHT unlocks gate's lab in of itself, thus locking you out of nightmare zero encounters. It is literally impossible because lol x6 rushjob
Not too mention another fun fact originally Black Zero was gonna be unlocked if you beat a level 4 Nightmare Zero but since is impossible to fight Nigtmare Zero at level 4 it got scrapped in favor of the Black Zero code.
The notion that this was play tested only with the Ultimate Armor makes way too much sense to be speculation, it damn near explains everything wrong with the shitty level design and bosses.
I hope Matt figures out that you can use maverick weapons on most nightmare systems, like for example you can use blaze heatnix’s attack to destroy the fireballs in blizzard Wolfgang’s stage
to my memory, another capcom title, an obscure one is Lost Planet where some things filled condensed or skipped, or there are sequences where you are meant to do something specific. More so in instances, some things felt off on repeated playthroughs.
Greg's explanation for the existence of X6 reminds of my explanation for the existence of End of Evangelion. I always felt that people didn't like the last 2 episodes of Eva so Anno was like "You didn't like my ending so f you, here's End of Evangelion".
The songs they replaced were "The Answer" and "Moonlight" which isn't pop (if you count Makenai Ai Ga Kita Aru as pop) but rather Rock, the VA for X in X6 was the leader singer for those songs and I.D.E.A the game's credit's theme Give those songs a listen they seriously kick ass
And so here we are. This game may as well be to me what Sonic 2006 is to some people. It's so frustrating that I can't help but play it. The weirdest thing to the ending debate is that X5 had a third ending between the good and bad ones that more or less leads into this game. I've only seen it once somehow on the PS2 X Collection though so I have no idea if they would have added it in as a retcon or not.
There's technically a great version of Mega Man X6 with MMX6 Tweaks. It restores some scrapped stuff, adds fixes and even reduces the pain of saving Reploids.
Megaman X6 is definitely a game that's too ambitious for its own good. As Johnny said in his review, the timeframe of this game isn't really all that big compared to how other games were made at the time. Problem is, not only there's the obvious problem of more technology means more things to work on therefore more time needs to be invested, this game was clearly trying to do so much more than what we were used to get from previous games. The mechanics added between X5 to X6 are way more than when we jumped between X1 to X2 or any of the Classic games. Unlike how Sonic fans love to bring "ambition" as a positive for games that don't reach their potential, i think X6 had too much ambition to the point where they shot themselves in the foot from the start since they simply added too many things.
The exact number of Nightmare Souls you would have needed to get Nightmare Zero to a high enough level to get Black Zero and the Ultimate Armor is 5000. One of the ways to unlock the Gate stages is by getting 3000 Nightmare Souls. And like Matt said, this does indeed lock you out of fighting Nightmare Zero. The cheat code is the only possible way to unlock Ultimate Armor X and Black Zero.
Yes, This brings Back. memories. I watched Megaman X6 brain scratch commentary. Some Canadian guy called the Great Clementj64 hate this game. At of course, how can I forget about the infamous line Of, "this game cheats hard and you must Cheat back?"
So are y'all going to do a Zero run after this? Because that would be awesome I think this is a much better game when you play as Zero outside of those two rescues in the flea's stage especially if you have that one terrible attack from the dung bettel.
That "!" In the corner is also for your character dialog and not just Alia. Below that platform before the fake wall of Laser Institute if you press...Select? I think? If you trigger the dialog, X will make a comment that "he feels a breeze somewhere" and that is your Only hint to that Dr. Light Capsule. Is it a good hint? Hell no. But it is there...for what little it's worth
For anyone who wants to play a better experience of X6, the X6 tweaks romhack is the most definitive experience of playing it because it can help iron out the rough edges of vanilla X6 such as allowing you to unlock Zero in the beginning (as well as playing him in the intro), making Black Zero and Ultimate Armor a proper unlockable or making Gate take damage from normal weapons to make it a less annoying fight. It even comes with an editor that allows you to tweak the damage values of bosses so you can scale them to be slightly more difficult than vanilla. Only downside is it needs a PS1 copy and a PS1 emulator. As a bonus, it came with a retranslation that the dialogue so that it's less rough to read.
18:11 Apparently, the only clue to let you know that you can go past it is by pressing the hint button(the one that lets you call with Alia) below the platform close to the spikes, & then X just says this: *X: I feel a little wind coming from somewhere near...* That’s basically your only hint to see the light capsule. There’s also one like that in the Infinity Mijinion alternate path where you hit the hint button & your character senses something. I will say that X6, for as awful as it is(because it is), I still enjoy playing it. I dunno if it’s because I’m a masochist, or I have the patience of a saint, but I do enjoy using weapons against what nightmare system you get. I just like the challenge of it, but I’ll still admit that this game is super rough as it is. I’m just weird like that, like enjoying Other M & not digging Legends as much as most people. We’re all different at the end of the day.

Yep. He's probably still saying that out of reflex at least once when someone mentions X6. 😆
That reminds me I need to rewatch his super meat boy let’s play soon
"Ha ha, poor asshole. :)"
Plankton: "Yes....! *YEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!"*
18:14 this is one of the alia hints items since you notice there's 2 platroms stacked on top of eachother... well if you go to the lowest platform alia will call you but she won't answer and X/Zero will say "Why do i feel a breeze from behind"
Won't lie, I started laughing maniacally when this popped up in my sub box
FINALLY, IT'S TIME FOR X6
.....have fun
Just recently binged watched Johnny’s X series reviews and now this lol
Oh boy, it's the Great Clement's "favorite" Mega Man game. Can't wait to witness the glorious rage and frustration from these folks.
"Which do you hate more? X6 or 06?"
"Mega Man X6, I hate that fucking game, but I'd GLADLY play that over this piece of shit."
Examples of what it does:
-Health and energy upgrades are shared: if either character gets them, both receive their benefits;
-Most hostages have been removed, leaving only the ones who actually have parts and upgrades;
-Shadow Armor has an AIR DASH now;
-Zero's Sentsuizan is no longer mapped to Up + Square, so no more accidental activations during Infinity Mijinion's secret area;
-You unlock both Black Zero and Ultimate Armor in the game itself, by increasing your rank, and the souls dropped by the Nightmares give more points.
Which is nice... But kind of make things worse retroactively since Capcom has never gone back to fix it or make a version that works to my knowledge.
Doesnt matter. Just because someone fixes a game and makes it less shit, does NOT mean the game was good to begin with
@@DirectorOfChaos9292 read anything done by Bethesda in the last decade or so. That said, the game looks cool at least and the story is decent enough, barring the zero stuff
Paper Mario TTYD remaster fix everything for no back tracking like in chapter 4 or finding General White
So basically some morons took a perfectly fine game with a slight challenge and decided to nerf everything that made the game fun
The pain is like Sigma. It always come back no matter how sure we put it in the grave.
Btw, High Max’s voice actor is Cell’s Japanese voice actor.
@@alexfischer7876Now I'm just imagining those two meeting up at some point.
The grin that appeared on my face when I saw this.
Also, cheating? Awww no fun. In all seriousness, I would have done the same
Do that for Johnny to suffer on Charityroom stream
@@alexfischer7876 but that's og megaman not X
The OG Showtaro Morikubo songs were pretty awesome.
Nightmare System
Entering a Maverick Stage affects one to three other stages permanently, unless another Nightmare Effect is triggered that affects the same stage. So if you go Infinity Mijinion, that causes Blackouts for Rainy Turtloid and Commander Yammark. To remove the Blackouts, for Rainy Turtloid you go to Shield Sheldon and for Commander Yammark you go to Rainy Turtloid. Effects are below:
Infinity Mijinion: Blackouts for Rainy Turtloid and Commander Yammark
Commander Yammark: Dragonflies for Shield Sheldon and Blaze Heatnix
Rainy Turtloid: Windy Rain for Commander Yammark and Ground Scaravich
Blaze Heatnix: Raining Fireballs for Blizzard Wolfang and Infinity Mijinion
Shield Sheldon: Soul Body Clones for Rainy Turtloid and Blizzard Wolfang
Blizzard Wolfang: Icy Floors for Metal Shark Player
Ground Scaravich: Barrier Blocks for Metal Shark Player and Shield Sheldon
Metal Shark Player: Moving Metal Blocks for Infinity Mijinion, Ground Scaravich, and Blaze Heatnix
Parts
Equipping a certain number of Parts depends on Rank, which depends on a character's Nightmare Soul count, capping at UH Rank with 9999 Nightmare Souls, allowing both X and Zero to equip up to 4 Parts and 1 EX Part. For those wondering, the Jumper Part is past a spike pit in Blizzard Wolfang's Nightmare Zone, so the Reploid holding it can not be killed.
X Saber
It is also worth noting X with the Saber can also SDC, which you need to know to make it usable.
I love that they're yelling in just Part 1, this is going to be a good playthrough
Elliot needs to edit in TheGreatClemente saying "I hate this game" at the start of every episode.
1. Don't give Elliot ideas.
2. I think that's trademarked to Clement so SGB won't allow it.
Been waiting for this! I do actually miss the old intro song in the PS1 version. It was pretty cool, and X actually sung it (which I remember Johnny mentioned back in the BSC playthrough, which is a classic).
FINALLY!!! I'VE WAITED FOR THIS PLAYTHROUGH FOR SO LONG
Clement: “THIS GAME SUUUUUUUCKS!”
Oh hi Spoony
Oh hey we're getting some different vocabulary here, we're finally breaking him.
I want to say that while Eurasia was effectively stopped from bringing about a total apocalypse, the debris from it is still coming down. It's like reducing the 100,000 Needles attack to 10,000 Needles. That would still ravage the planet here and there severely. Better to lose a city than the entire world.
So... Its like if you blew up an extinction causing asteroid but there are still million pieces of debris that's gonna fall anyway
@@DirectorOfChaos9292 CORRECT!
Just gonna drop this hint here: You can dash cancel with the Z-Saber as X, allowing you to do multiple slashes with it much faster than usual.
To elaborate on what Matt said at the end, it's actually the worst of both worlds: You need 3000 to open Gate's lab and 5000 to level up the Zero Nightmare to the necessary level.
Either way, that's a shitton of souls.
Finally, I’ve been waiting for this playthrough for years!
Also, Zero repairing himself doesn't surprise me when the Toa Mata in Bionicle assembled themselves from a bunch of pieces.
nnnnnnnnnNnnnnNnnNnNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Every time someone plays X6 Clement dies a little bit inside
Don't say that, we need Insane Lore of Mortal Kombat!
How to fix X6: Remove the Nightmare system.
That's one...
The other would be *FIX THE GODDAMN LEVEL DESIGN!*
And fix a lot of the bad level design, being able to get to High Max without a Maverick weapon, the extremely poor translation.
Level design is one of the most important aspects of any game. Doesn't matter how perfect it has to be, just make it at least solid enough. X6 doesn't do that well.
@@alexfischer7876 Don't know. Never tried it myself.
Morikubo was from X5 to X7...
X8 onwards is Takahiro Sakurai...
Yes, yes, YES, I have been waiting for this moment for a long time, so glad to see you guys finally doing this.
Beyond excited over this. My most awaited LP since the channel came back. Now hopefully they also do DKC3 soon
@@alexfischer7876 I was going more Inevitable from TGWDLM, BUT LET'S GO WITH THAT!
This is something I was greatly looking forward to since SGB came back for all the wrong reasons. I played this game for the first time on the Legacy Collection and at first I didn’t think it was that bad. But the more I played it, the more infuriating it became and it’s the only Mega Man game I ever raged quit.
Wow, what timing. I literally just rewatched the X5 playthrough last week.
12:54 imo you notice the difference in challenging vs difficult to do with anything when you get older. Somethings are just hard for all the wrong reasons, that's difficult for me.
11:19 How many months!?
Understanding references like the Art Institute joke is the best part of being a SGB fan from Philly lol
I just KNOW that I'm gonna be watching this LP at least 20 times.
18:07 and to think, I found that by accident, just by sliding down the wall!
X6 bonus part of Greg playing the game vanilla?
I know you all returned a while ago, but I am happy to SGB back in my feed.
Damn, one hour and this video is doing very well
I guess a lot of people were waiting for this LP
Idk if you guys will bring it up, but there is the X6 project mod that came out awhile and fixed like everything with the game.
"Lol x6" aside, the amount of suffering here will be proportional to how much Matt/Johnny cheat
Answer: very
I assume this IS the x5 good ending because even in the original x5 good ending, it was implied that the colony remains still fucked up earth beyond creating that crater, things just weren't outright apocalyptic. Still, this does lean on more damage from the remains crashing than the good ending had implied
I feel like it should be mentioned that even without cheating, the game basically never expects you to have a vanilla x but assumes he will ALWAYS have at least the falcon armor....that said the falcon armor is still nerfed from x5 and has some weak aspects, and the level design is still utter dogshit and I'm relatively sure you still can't beat gate 1 or 2 without the right parts for it. (Also the fact that the game outright doesn't even design with vanilla x in mind because it auto gives you falcon armor from the start is ...eh, when at least x5 assumed you COULD miss the fourth/force armor)
Since Uncle interrupted somewhat, it should be said that it's not just very likely you will be at gate's lab by the time you get the nightmare souls necessary to unlock the reward for a high level nightmare zero fight--getting the nightmare soul number to that amount OUTRIGHT unlocks gate's lab in of itself, thus locking you out of nightmare zero encounters. It is literally impossible because lol x6 rushjob
Can't the falcon armor charge special weapons in this game? I don't remember.
Not too mention another fun fact originally Black Zero was gonna be unlocked if you beat a level 4 Nightmare Zero but since is impossible to fight Nigtmare Zero at level 4 it got scrapped in favor of the Black Zero code.
@@theotherkyYes it can but is a big nerf in comparison to having the ability to fly for a few seconds.
And when X7 comes, it will be triple that amount.
I still remember the 100% Xtreme Mode completion run I did with Normal X for this game. I don't think I'll ever get over Metal Shark Player's stage...
The notion that this was play tested only with the Ultimate Armor makes way too much sense to be speculation, it damn near explains everything wrong with the shitty level design and bosses.
It’s funny how I recently revisited X6 and Johnny’s review of the game before this was posted. This is gonna be fun~
I hope Matt figures out that you can use maverick weapons on most nightmare systems, like for example you can use blaze heatnix’s attack to destroy the fireballs in blizzard Wolfgang’s stage
Finally I’ve been waiting for this for years!
to my memory, another capcom title, an obscure one is Lost Planet where some things filled condensed or skipped, or there are sequences where you are meant to do something specific.
More so in instances, some things felt off on repeated playthroughs.
23:09 I legitimately never knew about that part about unlocking Black Zero, I always just cheat to use him. Holy shit, this game is amazing.
Oh no we’re in the suffering era of Mega Man X
Anyone else always goes to Rainy Turtloid and Commander Yammark first, just to make sure they'll never have to deal with the darkness effect?
Greg's explanation for the existence of X6 reminds of my explanation for the existence of End of Evangelion. I always felt that people didn't like the last 2 episodes of Eva so Anno was like "You didn't like my ending so f you, here's End of Evangelion".
The songs they replaced were "The Answer" and "Moonlight" which isn't pop (if you count Makenai Ai Ga Kita Aru as pop) but rather Rock, the VA for X in X6 was the leader singer for those songs and I.D.E.A the game's credit's theme Give those songs a listen they seriously kick ass
This versions rookie hunter makes it so much easier
And so here we are. This game may as well be to me what Sonic 2006 is to some people. It's so frustrating that I can't help but play it.
The weirdest thing to the ending debate is that X5 had a third ending between the good and bad ones that more or less leads into this game.
I've only seen it once somehow on the PS2 X Collection though so I have no idea if they would have added it in as a retcon or not.
I was just listening to X6 music while taking a shower what perfect timing
There's technically a great version of Mega Man X6 with MMX6 Tweaks. It restores some scrapped stuff, adds fixes and even reduces the pain of saving Reploids.
I'm just noticing this while watching this but did they misspell overwrite?
24:05
I usually don't care about it but oh my god wow 😂😂
Gentlemen
Now we pray
You gotta “love” a game that’s such intricate web of problems
Do y'all ever use the in-game borders? (at least for yourselves?)
Yes, This brings Back. memories. I watched Megaman X6 brain scratch commentary. Some Canadian guy called the Great Clementj64 hate this game. At of course, how can I forget about the infamous line Of, "this game cheats hard and you must Cheat back?"
Best of luck, and keep your sanity in check.
It's Select for this pile, the slow pile, and X8 to receive incoming radio traffic.
OH GOD. That didn't take long.
I'll save people the trouble. Play this on Legacy Collection 2 with Rookie Hunter Mode.
At 18:30, if you push the button to listen to Alia she hints at that secret path.
18:11 Apparently, the only clue to let you know that you can go past it is by pressing the hint button(the one that lets you call with Alia) below the platform close to the spikes, & then X just says this:
*X: I feel a little wind coming from somewhere near...*
That’s basically your only hint to see the light capsule.
The Capcom logo jingle makes me rocksolid rooster
what a coincidence that yall are doing this after I've been watching a bunch of videos about mega man x6 lately
