They dropped most of the troops so far off their drop zones, the troops were widely dispersed, making a defensive attack by the Germans difficult. It also gave the impression a much larger force had landed. Hitler insisted on directing troops since his generals retreated too much for his liking, but he sleeps late and it's all over by the time he gets up.
He should have stopped with the annexations of Austria and Czechoslovakia. Their holding a multi-front war defies logic. BTW, what motherland you talking about?
525Lines the pint of the drop was so that the paratroopers would be in bigger groups with their platoons, they weren’t in their drop zones because the pilots refused to slow down, and they had get them out due to the Germans heavy AA defensive

It was the best thing to do in a bad situation. Those paratroopers made sure no reinforcements could counter attack the soldiers on the beaches. If the paratroopers weren't there the casualties could have been way higher and the battle as a whole could have turned in German favor.
The kitbag used in ww2 worked a bit differently. Most pilots could not slow down that much. Many paratroopers took more kit with them as planned so the aircraft became overloaded. So they had to fly at a higher speed than during a training jump. Many pilots were pissed when they heard that the troopers assumed the pilot just wanted to return fast as possible. .
Honestly enemy paratroopers should be shot down so that way the other side of the battle can get the upper hand oh but apparently you also have to be fair in war because your punishment for not being fair is basically a charge of war crime
@@tomas6326 Because like I said there deploying. By your logic an infantry man comes out of an APC with his rifle strapped to his back couldnt be fired upon either. A para drop is a hostile act.
And yet it confused the Germany into believing the force was bigger. In war there is no perfect battle plan. But American ingenuity was what made it a successful operation.
That's why they always got those missions. They spearheaded ww2 and they were some of the finest men to ever walk the earth.

Humanity has accomplished many great achievements. But humanity hasn't yet been able to treat his fellow man with the same way he treats himself. If humanity would do just this alone, this would end racism and prejudice overnight.
So they can quickly let go of it so they are lighter when they hit the ground, it allows them to carry a lot more weight, in theory if you employ the leg bag technique you could suspect hundreds of pounds of equipment and then drop it in the last few seconds to drop your force and terminal velocity speed to a safe landing. It's the perfect method.
The slower the plane went, the easier it was to shoot down, which would equal significantly more dead paratroopers than the alternative of just accelerating to try and evade the fire. It doesn't seem like it was a particularly easy situation to be in.
My grandfather was a machine gunner, Africa, Sicily and Normandy he said i have no idea how i survived. Thanks Walter.
Wow, god must’ve been on his side!
All my grandpas survived the war thanks to God

Russia got invaded through their western border 3 times in 100 years. No wonder they occupied their border countries after the war.

the movie was a shit take on a horror movie, but i gotta admit the brutality of the plane being ripped apart was very intriguing
same watched it yesterday was pretty cool but didn't like the zombies or whatever
These guys are from Band of Brothers, best mini series I've ever watched! Check it out if you haven't seen it already!
The Band of Brothers audio book is actually pretty good, too.
superb season
Idk where I can watch it. I've seen some clips but not even a full episode

BulletSh0t there weren't any female allied paratroopers in WWII , sorry buddy
Brylle Cruz maybe the Russians had?
Joma Champion Max Joma Champion Max there was a sniper division . Not sure about paratrooper division
Brylle Cruz Ah I see. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
No women were in the airborne during the second world war.
What a fatal error and horrible strategy to drop soldiers to easy death.

Ahhhh band of Brothers. A classic...
God bless them all. I can o my imagine how afraid they were. My uncles tell us stories of war. One always says how he was shaking, he was so afraid.
I could only imagine standing on death ground w no way out, but to fight and try to survive day after day.
WWII Paratroopers were superheroes. We’re sad reflections of these men

Of course you are, there deploying. What you cant shot are airmen for example who are bailing out of a downed plane, there out of the fight.

Keep them knees in the breeze
Most jumping into enemy territory are disasters
So we're just going to ignore the fact the pilots panicked?
