  • In 1959, the New York Philharmonic gave a concert in Bridgeport, Connecticut, conducted by Music Director Leonard Bernstein. An avid Bernstein fan, awaiting an autograph after the concert, saw an opportunity to pilfer one (or two?) of the maestro’s batons...and their whereabouts remained a mystery for years, until the thief’s son finally returned one baton to its rightful home at the New York Philharmonic Archives. Jamie Bernstein shares the story.

    I've only seen articles identifying Richard Horowitz as the timpanist who made his batons-- is this one actually by Saul Goodman?

    I guess the outcome of this event would've been "better call Saul!" 😅
