This video makes me feel much better about the purchase I made yesterday. I bought 1000 rounds of the 115 grain to use at the range for target practice. It’s good to know that it’s penetration power seems better than it’s cohorts. I am surprised I would’ve expected a heavier bullet to go deeperbut as I think about it I imagine the 115 grain may have a greater velocity due to the lighter round. Thanks for your video.
Clad you find this interesting👍. I personally have used S&B for many ears with no major issues what so ever.. There is also a velocity test on my channel for these rounds. Few of the many points to consider when looking at penetration are velocity, projectile weight and type, burn rate of propellant and length of the barrel. Good the keep in mind that generally the heavier the projectile, the less propellant one needs, and vice versa. Take care and have a great week
Your welcome Jack. Here S&B is the number one supplier when it comes to the variety of ammo and quality provided. I reload these days but I keep a good stash of 115 & 124g from S&B. Regards and have a great day
Good evening and thanks for stopping by the channel👍👍. Happy to help. There is lots more one these rounds on the channel. See if you find something else of interest . have a great weekend.
9mm heads supplied commercially for reloading such as those by Fiocchi for instance are in .355Ø or .356Ø. For 38 special or. 357 Magnum they will supply heads that are 0.357Ø. I personally have never used heads that are .357Ø on 9mm reloads for several facts. Maybe the most obvious for me would be that they cost more than 9mm heads and the weight is also far more than my preferred 124 or 147 grain. Obviously not a professional advice but my personally view would be to stick to the standard practice of using 9mm heads for 9mm reloads. Regards my friend
Awesome test! Which round would you recommend for self-defense scenario in a region where Hollow Point and Soft Point bullets are forbidden? I guess it's good to go with heaviest bullet 150 gr to avoid over-penetration. Or am I wrong with my assumption?
Hi. Thanks for looking at the content. Due to your local legislations I would say that you should do fine with 124 or 115 grain FMJ rounds. Some people opt for heavier rounds because of the stopping power but based on what I learned along the years, stopping powder is not all one should look at. Penetration seems to have more relevance when one is looking at self defense. Another alternative people look at are frangible rounds because they do not fall under hollow or soft point specifically. Here is a clip for a penetration test for frangible. ruclips.net/video/NC-DO2r0fV0/видео.html Take care and have a great day.👍👍
@@ReloadingMoreAD1966 Thanks! Sadly frangible rounds also are forbidden here. Just for curiousity purposes today I bought a box of 140gr S&B's. 150gr were out of stock :) Not saying it's better than sharp nose FMJ's with 115/124gr but I decided that these subsonic ones is something what I might want to try too! Keep up posting the good content!
@@ReloadingMoreAD1966 Today our local shop got the 150gr S&Bs in stock again. Meanwhile 140 is out of stock already at the moment :) So I ran and purchased a box of 150s also. When comparing side to side 150 vs 140, 150's bullet is just a little bit longer, around 1mm.Other than that, the shape and colour is identical to 140.

Hi. Fort Scott ammo is unavailable here in south of Europe. Fiocchi is available but only one type in 115gr at the moment. Let us see what happens say in the next 2 to 3 months. If more Fiocchi become available than I would certainly make a similar clip to this one from S&B but for Fiocchi Thanks for being an active member
Hi Richie. According to what I tested the 115 grain had the most penetration. Looking at the data from Sellier & Bellot, the 100 grain has superior speed and energy on impact compared to the 115gr but because the 100grain is a soft point I Suspect that the penetration is less compared to the 115gr FMJ. Date from S&B... Velocity: 100gr @ 428m/s, 115gr @ 390m/s, 124gr @ 360m/s, 150gr @ 305m/s. Energy: 100gr @ 595J, 115gr @ 570J, 124gr @ 518J, 150gr @ 451J. Thanks for being active in the chat
