I noticed that the "boss" opponents (Molded Hoffman and the Hoffman with the deep voice and knives in his head) act somewhat differently than the other 8 Hoffmans. They have a different posture, a slightly different idle animation, and those two bosses do something the others don't: They slam their hands on the table when they lose, and taunt the player when they win. Anyone else seen that?
This is the first time I’ve felt bad for winning, they make you feel so bad for winning, which hits even harder because you know little to nothing about Clancy or Hoffman, except that Clancy was a Camera Man, and Hoffman has a family

Since the 2 would have been the "best possible draw", the game had to opt for the 3. Dumb though, as drawing a 1 would have worked (since the showdown revealed the opponent staying with 19 and thus Clancy would win with 20), but it may just be how the game's contingency plan coding worked out. At least he was able to play the "To 24" card in the end.
The deck is comprised of 1 of each card only Since Clancy had both a 1 and a 2 on the table, he could only received the next lowest in the deck which was a 3.

I'm 25 minutes into watching the playthrough, and it's so satisfying to watch you play and win against the past 3 opponents with relative ease. I find myself 'participating' as well, trying to figure out what Hoffman's faced-down card value is. It's morbid for me to say this, but it's been quite...relaxing *hides face* Edit: should have waited to comment; at the 5th opponent, the tone and even the opponent changed, and the stakes are higher. Whoa.
It's pretty obvious that in this situation, "Hoffman" is just a nickname given to these victims by Lucas. It's the equivalent of calling them "John Doe". They're so unimportant to his designs and plans that they aren't even worth calling by their real names. At this point in the story, the pain attraction is Clancy. HE'S the one he's putting all this effort into to fuck with. These other people being kidnapped to use as testing fodder or opponents for his primary test subject don't matter to Lucas. Basic psychopath psychology, LOL.
Before I got super into Resident Evil about 2-3 years ago I watched this video maybe a year after it came out. I just thought this was a standalone game because of how unique it is. Truly one of the best Resident Evil games.

It's true what some guides say about not using trumps for at least the first few rounds, I basically held off using any until I my inventory was full up, then from the 2nd opponent onward I basically had a full compliment of Trump cards to choose from. The Trump Switch+ card is a must, can refill your hand and give you options when you desperately need them. That last opponent lol he almost had me, got him with a combo of Raise bet cards and a Go for 24 card. Not the way I thought my Resident Evil 7 journey would end but hey what a ride!!
My comment is a little late, but he woulda beat him if he used his perfect draw+ Woulda still drew the 11, but also raised the bet by 5 so that big head dies on that round.

An example would have been at 20:05, when you KNOW he can't have anything better than a 14, considering you're holding the 11? Or at 24:29, when he clearly busted...Is there a larger strat I'm not grasping? It seems to me that if you know it's guaranteed, the damage is damage.
