Agadmator is so unintentionally funny, from his slow mo moves to how he casually shuns certain moves and just scoffs at how badly you'd get destroyed if you played them. Absolutely love this guy and watching his vids invigorate my love of chess.
No doubts the queen sac is amazing... But the poor knight on g5 also deserves a bit of a mention.! What a game by Gukesh...all the Indian youngsters are playing spectacular chess and entertaining us..happy that someone suggested this game to Antonio.
I've noticed that the world's top ten or twenty players can push the pawns defending their king, leaving their king defenseless, and amazingly they can get away with it. They are the only ones who can.
I think they're very good at calculating whether their attack is fast enough to survive the weaknesses they've created, and that's the main reason the top 20 players are able to get away with it more often than their lower-rated compatriots.
@@21abhinavpatel Well put! That's true too of many other elements of their strategy. As you say, they calculate precisely how many moves it will take for the attack to succeed, and whether their opponent can overcome their defense in fewer moves than that. The rest of us can't make such a sophisticated calculation. I've lost many games because I overestimated by a move or two the speed of my attack or the slowness of my opponent's attack.
@@21abhinavpatel Exactly. Everytime I try to replicate their strats I get insta checkmated because my king is defended by one pawn against 2 knights, a bishop, a rook, 3 pawns and a queen.
Funny you said this on a video where someone got punished for pushing their pawns in front of the king? But yeah, he's not top-20 so maybe that's what you meant? You can see Gukesh pawns in front of his king is still unmoved.
I really liked the way you recapped the moves again at the end starting at around 9:10. I'm a relative beginner so maybe lots of your other viewers don't benefit from that, but for me, watching the moves again now knowing how the game ended really helps me understand why they're so powerful. I don't think Pakistan ever had a GM. But Bangladesh on the other hand have few GMs and they are good, fought well at chess olympiad recently. Good luck to them both!
I am completely new to Chess and I have been watching your videos for a while now, but I have learned a few things that I see in almost every chess game. Always keep your king behind pawns, never get a check from a knight as you can’t block it with anything, don’t let the opponent’s pawn cross midline, avoid the opponent’s two knights attacking together, and have some space for the king to move.
Antonio, you do an amazing job choosing nice games for us. First a queen side castle into a fork, and now this!! I can't believe how a hundred's of years old game still yields jaw dropping moments in 2022 on a regular basis.
Thank you for the advice. I would have played the knight to c6 with black, called it the 4 knights variation confident it was the best move in the position
@@mridgaf3233 yea but still that guy played horribly exposing his king to the bishops and queen like that. like sure u attack but u gotta defend ur most important piece as well

Amazing indeed from Gukesh. Gawain is also very attacking and so the game between them have to be a great ride for sure. Its just that he met someone who is a juggernaut at the moment. The point where a mistake or blunder happens in these games should be pointed out in my opinion. Otherwise it's really difficult to make out where exactly the mistake occurred.
Agadmator usually does precisely that. In this case, I don't believe there was a blunder. It's just that pushing the pawns defending your king only works for the very top players. You can't really call it a blunder, because they do it and win. For the rest of us, just don't do it!

i noticed you recently started saying "pawn to" before pawn moves, instead of just saying the move. (i.e. "Gukesh plays pawn to b5" instead of simply "Gukesh plays b5"). is that because beginners were having trouble understanding which piece was moving unless you specified "pawn to..." before saying the move? just wondering. love your videos.
It is not explicitly mentioned at 8:10, but QxB2 by black would have resulted in R to H7 checkmate by white, that is why the queen is just completely immobilized and helpless
On the surrender move at 8:15 what would have happened if black played queen captures bishop at b2? I feel like there was a way out but I'm not that good at chess so maybe I just don't see it?
Not to take away from his brilliancy, but it seemed very intuitive that white would be activating the bishop pair from hell. Black opened up his kingside, white had 2 bishops, the diagonals threats were apparent. The queen sac was just a poisoned piece positioned to allow white to pile up alongside the hellish bishop duo.
